Damn straight, we’re desperately trying to hire people that will help us tap into that young audience. But we don’t want to pay for it or break the mold in any way
As a former Deadhead who followed the band around for a bit and did my share of LSD as well as watched over people who were tripping balls. . . you can't always tell. Someone on a trip can sound and act normal, even a little more subdued than usual. It depends on the dosage and time elapsed. Based on the story, Doc was probably on the way down when he took the mound, meaning his visuals would be weird and sounds would be funny, but he was past the "I can taste colors!" stage. The discrepancy in timing also makes sense. LSD can screw with your sense of time, recent memory formation, and order of events understanding. So for Doc, it felt like he got there 90 minutes before the first pitch because his brain compressed the time. Everyone else saw him wander in on time, and probably very quiet during the team meeting and pre-game warm-ups. Another great video!
I've drank a vial (100-115hits) and went out in public. I couldn't put together a sentence but I was perfectly coherent otherwise. I did lose my motorcycle keys though. Never did find em. Had to change my entire ignition.
idk his description sounds exactly like a teenager who has never done psychedelics describes their trip. i don't buy it for a second, especially for a known liar.
He wasted his talent. He would deliberately get thrown out of games, because he wanted to be with a groupie, not caring if his team lost. When the Pirates needed leadership after Clemente died, he mailed it in.
As a Pirates fans, I can attest that Dock was a wild man, one the great baseball characters of all time. He was also a really good pitcher but unfortunately he had severe substance abuse problems and obvious anger issues. He was also a really good man who turned his life around. A true baseball legend for better or for worse.
Whoa whoa hold up You cannot put "severe substance abuse problem & anger issues" as if they're 2 completely seperate things. The substance abuse, especially the Greenies, exacerbated his anger issues. I'm 7 years clean now off Heroin. So trust me, I know exactly what he was going through in am empathetic way.
As someone who’s done LSD a handful of times, if Dock was taking psychedelics as often as he was doing everything then I’m not surprised no one could tell he was on it at the time. LSD doesn’t make you see dragons & shit lol he was just trippin balls having the game of his life
He was on something for pretty much every game he played in his career. For this teammates, it was just another day of Dock pitching even if he was throwing more walks and more wild than usual.
He was not sober for a single game. And he’s the reason curlers are banned in the league! But the best was the fact that he was SHIRTLESS under a Steelers jacket while pinch running!! He’s my all time FAVORITE baseball player period hands down!!
I would freakin love it if there was players like this today. Im sick of the way sports have gotten so soft and fluffy. Guys like Doc are fucking legends!
LSD was way stronger back then too so that makes it even more amazing. This absolutely happened. LSD isn't a bad thing, in fact for most people it's quite positive, spiritual even. Dock Ellis is a LEGEND and he deserves every bit of that title. He's been through more than most can even fathom and he deserves an apology from mlb among many others. Just the amount of racism this man endured is a disgrace to baseball and our entire country.
I think it depends on the dealer. I get snow some some guys and it's awful, and sometimes the cheaper stuff is just better. That's my predicament at the moment lol. Where I live, there are lots of university students, so drug dealing is rife, and competitive. There's a solid market for illicit substances so the quality is often amazing. Kinda lucky lol
I read Doc's book, he was something...! Actually Dave Parker talks about him in his book, pretty interesting stuff.... I'll say this, I loved watching the guy pitch, even though I was a White Sox fan... He was really smooth on the mound, loved his delivery, he had talent but a heck of a character.... RIP #17
My uncle used to tell a story about being high on acid during a boxing match, he said it was one of his best fights mainly due to the fact he "knew where they were trying to punch before they threw the punch"
The best game I've ever pitched ( 3 shutout innings , with an 8 pitch inning) totally tripping on some very fluffy L. I got the super focus and the curve was with me lol.
I really appreciate this channels dedication to its content by finding and utilizing authentic footage of the subject to help tell the story at hand, rather than using stock footage and a medium shot of the narrator to fill gaps.
For sure. Most of these baseball doc channels popping up are obviously just the person trying to get themselves as much screen time as possible and the videos just barely make the 10 min mark
BDE single-handedly carrying the MLB content community. Two minutes into a video of a player I didn't even know existed until the video and suddenly I'm hit square in the dick by an epiphany. I've never had a favorite Athlete until now and I'm a degenerate fan Dock is my favorite athlete, from any sport I've spent the last 35 years watching. @@fromulus foolish is great, but he's more of a sabermetric/analytics doc type of channel. BDE really dives into a player's entire career. Both are top of the community for sure
This is better than anything on MLB network.
100% FB, Baseball doesn't exist and Jomboy have far surpassed any network TV sports coverage. I feel bad for those who haven't found it yet.
💯 it sure is....wonder when this guy will really takeoff. He should have his own show!
@@hunterjessup So true!
the network stinks now but it was a good run

He was the Dennis Rodman of the MLB, Dennis looked up to him for motivation
Except Doc Ellis advocated for people with sickle cell and people with addiction.
Dennis Rodman sucked Kim Jung Un’s d*ck
Lmao this makes it even better

Right Doc was justified in his behavior
@@coachtali5151 'Cept this guy seem like a pretty good dude..... and not a complete piece of shit.

They didn’t like this guy because he knew his worth and had self respect at a time when it actually took balls to do so.
Mostly because he was black... along with those things.
💯
I was waiting to come across somebody understanding this. You the goat !!

I mean if you join a team and everywhere you go you get called a N**** I would have quote on quote anger issues as well
Anger issues cause people attacked him based on race? Makes no sense
his anger was due to being hated his whole life for being black. Assholes always judged him before he even got to show his attitude.
anger issues lol... people were screaming racist shit at him his entire career

Thank you for showing us what a leg is. This is the attention to detail I love from this channel.
I wouldn't of known what a leg was if he didn't highlight that so I totally agree.
I too learned that an ankle is actually a leg. Never knew.
😂 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽😂
Absolute legend with a huge heart, RIP
He didn't have a huge heart lol
@@unclejune2839 you dont do all the good he did without one.
Hearing the racism stories hurt me. I met Luis Tiant a few years back and he told me that he used to get called monkey and all types of things

We've come a long way, but need to come much further

Sports fans are honestly the worst part of sports sometimes.

Bingo. Tripping is less about “seeing things” and more about being one with the universe. LSD/Acid in particular provides intense focus
He was on something for pretty much every game he played in his career. For this teammates, it was just another day of Dock pitching even if he was throwing more walks and more wild than usual.
This dude is crazy and a character, interesting to learn more about his career
Same, I only knew about his no hitter before
His kind are always delinquents and causing too many problems
Always a great day when BDE uploads, especially in the offseason when we have baseball withdrawals.
Pure gold. Doc is a legend
He’s a punk
They need to make a movie about Dock
They have one it’s called no no
Ice cubes son was supposed to be playing him but the movie never made it past development
W day, W channel, W life when he uploads
See when baseball doesn’t exist upload all the stress goes away
Doc Ellis is the man, RIP to this legend
he describes his visuals from his trip like every high schooler who has never done psychedelics brags 😂
the 70s were wild days
Hell of a video man. I don’t even watch baseball anymore, but I’ve now seen every one of your videos.
I can't stomach modern baseball
I'm not a big baseball fan, but I love the content on this channel. I'd love to see a video on $0.10 beer night.
Pretty sure there might already be one. Or one on disco night which was a uniquely weird situation.
I've seen beer night. Not sure if it was BDE or if it was somebody like JomBoy, SB nation, or somebody else

I didn't know about this monster. Biggest lad of pirates history.
hes a menace, but still was one of the best pitcher in his era .
Never heard of this guy. He was certainly a pioneer. What a real man, need more like this one
Yessir, Baseball needs more drug addicted bald-faced liars who throw at guys faces
Banning curlers is such a hilarious tidbit of this story.
Strangely, the box score lists this guy as:
Ellis D.
LSD?
Ell-is-dee?
Forshadowing?

I hear that stuff is only as strong as it's dosed to be
I doubt the actual chemical compound was any stronger, sellers are likely j lying about the actual dose nowadays
LSD accessible to the streets was way less pure back then than today. The come down used to be terrible today I don’t even feel a come down.
