As a drummer, i've found that some other drummers seem to be threatened by those like El E.S.
We can choose to be entertained & inspired, or we can choose to be snotty naysayers who can't stand someone else being better than they are.

Those of us who speak Spanish are aware of el Estepario’s approach to drumming from his interviews (some of which are in YT)… he’s just a sociologist who happened to love drumming, and his approach to practicing, structuring solos and managing his career is truly organic. He’s brilliant. Yes, show-offy on the videos, but mostly to sustain the channel; otherwise, he’s a regular dude, humble, self-deprecating at times. He deserves all the praise he can get.

    Greetings.
I played drums from 1984 well into late 90s and as a drummer, I remember something Dave Wekl said about his technique....
"Whatever it is I'm doing, you will notice that if one hand pauses, the other is taking over whether it's 4, 8, or 16th notes."
In short, what one hand is NOT doing, the other IS!
This man has taken that 2 or 3 levels up.
He's very versatile in his technique and has a wide range of abilities in how to play rolls and fills.
I WAS absolutely impressed when I first saw him and he's very entertaining to watch.

I've been able to curate a pretty good feed on my UA-cam but it took literal months if not a year of me hitting "don't recommend channel" or "not interested" to hundreds of videos they try to feed me. Alongside liking and subscribing to channels and videos I'm interested in. I'm not into sensationalist garbage or clout chasers, I'm into creative stuff on UA-cam, history, and silly stuff sometimes.
The algorithm really tries to push you into so much crap but I think with tweaking what you wanna see you can get a pretty good feed. It sure shouldn't take this much effort tho!!

4:48; Anyone who says those things has no clue just how insanely difficult it is to do what he does with such precision. For those who make these sorts of comments I would say; Sure! Ok... Great! So then in that case, now you do it. Oh, and BTW, make sure you do it on a 3 piece kit.............. We're waiting........... Yeah, that's what I thought punk.
He does a couple of videos that are an absolute masterclass on polyrhythms. He makes it look sooooo easy! The thing I think people don't take into account is the extreme coordination it takes to pull off 4 different time signatures (one for each limb) at the same time! When you have guys like Mike Portnoy describing Siberiano as "a once in a generation phenomenon", you can bet he's probably a pretty solid player. Now the question is; (A) Do I just admit defeat and quit, or (B) Do I spend every waking second practicing and hope to become even 1/10th the drummer he is some day?

The only thing more entertaining than watching El Estepario videos is watching reaction videos from professional drummers,
musicians and music industry folks. Most of them basically fall out of their seat which is what I do every time a new video comes out. It’s just sad to think someday we may lose the amazement because we get so used to his incredible talent!

I'm a drummer, too, and I totally agree with all you guys and can see the amazing skills of Esteban. Simply impressive. I just wouldn't wanne be someone who has to cope with him in the context of "real" music. There has never been a point (except for very few people) to be the "fastest" musician ever. But to see it as a gimmick on UA-cam is great fun. I totally adore his abilities, his chops and his endless effort to get more and more perfect and fast. "Musicality" to me is about letting go of everything that's "not" needed. Instead of playing as many notes as possible

So glad with your comment. It is exactly what I see and hear watching him. He destroys the orignial and put his mark on him that will forever be the benchmark. For me it is similar to the guitar players that I could not follow, like Yngwie Malmsteen flying always on the notes.

THIS GUY is astonishing!!! I'm not shooting from the hip here, I started taking drum instruction from a LEGENDARY drum instructor whose pupils went onto spawn their own cadre of famous drummers in their own right at the age of six🤓
When I see Thomss Lang, Vinnie Coluata, or Marco Minnemann play something challenging, I think to myself, "Given enough rehearsal and disassembly, I could play that"...
    But THIS GUY😂

Really appreciate your commentary after the video. Very well said my friend. I doubt the naysayers will be appeased though. Envy of another's talent often runs the deepest. I'm just glad someone finally put into words what several of us were thinking , but not sure how to articulate it as well as you just did concerning what this man is actually accomplishing with these songs. One final quick thought, I believe this man has achieved a level that even those of us that play instruments of whatever type can't truly understand the depth of the talent he has. Some can't understand it because he's playing at a level that's not seen maybe once in a lifetime if ones lucky. Keep doing what you do , enjoy the channel.

Just the fact that he has mastered the "Dualist" pedal just on his own says alot. I have one along with a DW double kick pedal and let me assure you it's no easy task. Just setting that pedal up takes a master of the feel and tension of the thing. And those that think that pedal is "cheating" is sadly mistaken. It's just another tool to take you to another level in your skill. This guy is the BOMB. There are great drummers and different styles but this dude is a technician....

IMHO this is the best ever performance playing drums in the whole music history so far, bar none. The level of precision, technique, crispiness, musicality, independence, mastercraft, speed, art and sound it is unmatched. And I find it even better than his performances of Blinding Lights, Take on me or even The Bongo Song which is playable by 2 drummers and he does it solo. This thing is fucking unbelievable.

I can appreciate differing opinions- otherwise, there'd be little reason to come to the comments section. I thought a tiny handful of his vids were mildly over the top but your point of what can be humanely possible is well received and a great point. Truly excellent reaction vid. El Estepario's total logged hours to the craft are as unmatched as his talent.
