Mazal Tov on your Aliyah!!! So happy to hear you're enjoying it! I had my beit din and mikvah last week so now I'm officially Jewish!!!
Hey Seán, that's so great to hear! 😀💖🥳 Mazal tov & welcome!!!
Ive always had a curiosity about Judaism. I am being pulled in its direction as of late but I've been insecure to explore because I'm Latina and Catholic. However, your journey has been so beautiful, the light, love, and respect you feel for Hashem and Judaism is palpable and the fact that you are Korean- American makes it accessible for someone like me. Thank you for sharing💙✡️🕎
Have you looked into your ancestry? Many Latinos have Jewish ancestry because of the fact that many Jews were in Spain and expelled in 1492. To try to escape the inquisition many Jews came to the "New World." My wife is Latina and she and I both converted together. Best wishes in your spiritual journey.
@@kwyatt75 I have not looked up my ancestry but do know that a lot of Jews did immigrate to S. America. You gave me something to think about, thank you! I think it's really great you and your wife converted together. What an amazing experience. I'm grateful for your well wishes and hope you and you wife are happy and healthy!
@@kwyatt75 did you go orthodox?
@@_einodmilvado No, that was not an option for us where we live.
@@kwyatt75 conservative?
So amazing, I can't wait to make Aliyah. Been following you for months now - so happy for you!
Thanks! Can’t wait to have you here 😁❤️
I’m so looking forward to your next video.I check every day because I’m afraid I might miss it.
Hi my lovely Israeli friend. I hope all is going well as you begin to settle in.
Could you make a video on how you found your apt and how you get around and find wherever you need to go - how easy or difficult it is, how it is using public transport if you’ve been doing that, your grocery shopping and shopping in general …etc. ? That would be great!
It would also be really interesting if you made a video where you took us with you as you went grocery shopping - or shopping for anything.
I always adore you and your amazing videos!
I also have a crying in public in Israel story that I’d be happy to tell you sometime - if you’re interested. Looking back now, I think it’s funny. But at the time it happened I was really upset at the Israeli bus driver
that had caused/precipitated (in my opinion - at the time) my tears.
Hi Meorah! I love your content!
I’m an American Jew still in the diaspora and I just wanted to say you are SO valid in getting annoyed at people constantly asking where you are from!
People who only get asked “where are you from” once in a while, on vacation, or during freshman year college orientation when EVERYONE is being asked the same question at the same rate equally will not understand.
I always think of micro agressions like a mosquito bite. Some people get bit by a mosquito once a month. MAYBE. Not a big deal. They probably forget about it.
You are getting the “Where are you from” question 1-3 times A DAY. That’s like getting bit by a mosquito 30-90 TIMES A MONTH. THAT’S AGGRAVATING. I just wanted to send you so so much positivity and tell you I see you, I hear you, and you are NOT over exaggerating.
Mazel Tov on making aliyah! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey! You really hit the nail on the head...I got a bit of pushback from folks who didn't quite understand where I was coming from and the way you put it is so spot on. I know that ultimately, I need to learn to feel more secure so it doesn't bother me, but I'm just not there yet so I really appreciate hearing from someone who gets that too. Really, your comment felt like a big virtual hug, so *thank you* for reaching out!! 🥲
Happy New Year Meorah. I understand that from time to time you may feel uneasy about people asking if you are Chinese or whatever, but remember that through it all HaShem may just be building your character as a woman of G-d. You can never know. You just might be planting a seed in someone else’s life. So stay in tune to the Ruach and keep your focus and praise on G-d.
Yay! You lost it in a bank, now you're really a local 😘. Being a new immigrant is a big deal and you have a good attitude about the whole thing. In general, Israelis aren't so "nice", but they are very kind, which is more sustainable, I think.
😂!! I guess it was a rite of passage. I love your comment on “nice” vs “kind,” it’s so well put! 👍
I wouldn't say they're not "nice" they're just blunt and honest. You reaaaallly can't be sensitive around them! XD
@@hameorah Hahha i think it’s just how middle easterns are in general, it’s tough love basically
I've grown accustomed to the bluntness, so much so that I am very confused in anglo work settings sometimes!
You brought a Korean fan, very cool :) peace from Macau.
Nice catch!! 😄
Dear Meorah. To veganism two links: first the restaurant Nagila, i found it 2017 in "5 Mashiach Baruchof St., Jerusalem". Second Asa Keisar, like in the english wikipedia to read: "rabbi, scribe, and advocate for veganism". I wish you all the best for your arrivel in Israel. May Hashem bless you and your good work. Waiting for the next videos.
You should check out Hummus Eliyahu in the shuk :)
SO stoked for you!!!
welcome home :)
Kazakstan has Euro Asia area Israel is super diverse so I'm sure they are asking because they are curious, and want to get to know you. I heard Isrealies are very friendly.
I don't eat animal flesh either and I also own a few leather items. However, I don't refer to my diet as "vegan." Instead, I call myself "plant based."
Once the covid insanity ends and Israel reopens, I hope to visit Israel and immerse myself in the plant based lifestyle there.
Right! I forgot that’s what the cool kids are calling it nowadays 😸 “Plant-based” sounds much nicer…more appetizing and less ideological.
Mazal Tov great blessings
Did you go to a Rabanit yet? she will help you do Aliyah
Hi - what kind of work will you be doing? I imagine UA-cam will be a part of it.
Good for you that America allows dual citizenship!
Apart of your conversion did you not have to learn Hebrew?
I am converting and the Hebrew I learned is very minimal and biblical. I wouldn't be able to ask anyone where something is, but I can tell you random blessings 😅
No, but I do know how to read/write and pray in Hebrew. Learning modern, conversational Hebrew isn't required to convert so I'm still working on it!
@@hameorah oh wow! Here in the U.K Reform is basically the same as the American form of Conservative Judaism. It's mandatory you must learn how to read, write speak Hebrew.
@@hameorah hey Meorah, enjoy your channel…I lived in Israel in the 70s. Went to ulpanim there and got pretty conversant in the language. I’m trying to keep up my Hebrew and I’ve found the channel “Piece of Hebrew” - you might want to check it out. Aloha, Kevin
@@KevinRoddy Nice, I'll check it out!
your bank experience will toughen you up for the post office
thats a real shit show
and dont go anywhere near the dmv if you not ready to throw down
I am getting flashbacks from volunteering in JLM and needing to apply for a bank account at the post office. only one lady spoke a very broken English. I was just using hands and noises to communicate... 😂
From when I lived in Boston, they are not nice but they are kind. I wonder if Israelis are similar?
That's exactly what someone else commented! And yeah, I think that's a great way to frame it...not "nice" but "kind," which seems more genuine if anything.
It's almost impossible to get by in israel without knowing hebrew .
If you know arabic or russian you can survive. Mostly arabic though if you absolutely do not speak hebrew
Most Israelis don’t understands Arabic or Russians ,and in Israel most adds abs announcements abs roads signs are in Hebrew only .
My suggestion for her to is to everyone she meets that she don’t speak Hebrew ,then everyone will assist her and understand makes a mistake .
Its challenging to not speak fluently - but daily functioning (even at a lower level than one is used to) provides an acquisition of the culture and language. Ulpan will be helpful - but obviously don't worry if you do a few!
Also, French helps depending on your hood
Not sure if this is personal im not trying to get personal but thinking for my sake also wanting to make aliyah. How do you survive financially
Ask me again in a few months! 😅 I brought a bit of money with me and will get another $5k from the government as part of Aliyah benefits so that will cover me til I figure things out.
Baruch HaShem
Did you need to work in IDF?
No, G-d bless them, but I'm too old so they don't want me. 😄
@@hameorah I'm 31 and I'm considering making aliyah. I'd like to work in IDF, even if it's something not related to front battle itself, like a cook, or washing the the facilities, I mean, I just wanna be useful there. Do you think they would allow me to work there?
@@triconex4816 I think 24 is the cutoff for men unless you're a doctor (36), but you should ask around to make sure!
@@hameorah I think I'm a bit late then... Thx 4 answering.
Are you going to live in Israel 🇮🇱 for the rest of your life with occasional visits back to the United States 🇺🇸?
Yes ma’am! G-d willing ☺️
@@hameorah Mazel T'ov!!
Are you married yet?
Why is your hair dyed like that?? It’s weird.
😂
Love your content, thanks for the update! I’m not sure if you check your Instagram messages but I sent a private message on there, would love to connect! (I’m gay, I promise I’m not a straight guy trying to flirt 😂)
Oh man, I think I really gave off a harsh impression like I don't want any guys to talk to me or something...live and learn I guess, but I didn't mean to come off like that lol. Anyway, I'll look out for your message! 👍
