If you don't stand up and applaud this man by the end of this video, there's something wrong with you. That resilience, that determination. Not only in appealing his grade, but in thriving at an institution that has closed its doors to people like us for generations. I cannot articulate proud I am of you, Ibz. You have paved a path for the underprivileged in an elitist world. The main beneficiaries of "affirmative action" in the USA are white women and that's a FACT! No such thing as affirmative action exists in the UK anyway. Why do white people get so bothered when they see working class ethnic minorities thriving? You guys try to make every excuse under the sun, whereas in reality study after study proves that ethnic minorities have to work thrice as hard as white people in order to successfully obtain the same opportunities.

Honestly, I feel as if we're in the beginning of season 4 since we've seen the 3 years of him in University. But I get what you mean. He finally got a 2:1 again at the end of his last year like he did in his 1st year. Congrats Ibz you have truly inspired me to work like a bad b*tch from GCSEs to University. Americans don’t understand our exams r way harder which is why an A is generally 70%
I am also from a european country, and I too find it weird that 70% is like almost the best. Where I am from 70% is good, don't get me wrong, but it's let's say nothing special, 90% + is considered amazing😀 but yeah, maybe your exams are indeed a lot harder, I haven't looked that deaply into it!
Fam my chemistry a level had 50% for an A because otherwise EVERYONE would fail

@@LauraDeFeh because instead of focusing on letting everyone do well they want to let the select few who are truly exceptional to be the stand out people who get top marks.
@@Aelcro well in my mind that doesn't make sense, as what eceptional we can get if it's only 50% after all, guessing like 60% for A*, plus not really a fair judgement of students, as exams should be a mean of testing the knowledge gained in school, not something extraordinary. But then again I do believe that A level grade boundaries fluctuate based on how people do in the specific year, which is not a thing where I am from

I know exactly how you feel. I worked so hard during my A Levels, and I was expecting to receive A grades. I cried so hard when I got BBB, because it wasn't a reflection of the hours I put in. They've since been remarked and I received AAB, but it's a very upsetting experience. Hope it works out for you.

I had a similar experience. I worked my bum off (specifically in english lit, getting full marks in the coursework essays) and nobody could understand why I was upset with ABB. Sent off for remark and didn't budge so I'm re-sitting English and History. It's absolutely heartbreaking when you don't reach your full potential. Congrats on your grades going up though they're amazing xxx

I went through the same thing this year (2nd year)! My grandma died during exam term and I had to go to her funeral on the day of my last exam, so I missed it. My first grade was a 2.2 because the missed exam counted as a fail (and ofc it's Cambridge, no resits UGH) but eventually they accepted my appeal in August and my grade got brought up to a 1st! it was such a weird experience though because I was in limbo for literally TWO MONTHS so I had no idea what to tell people abt my results :/ massive congrats on getting through the process and getting your rightful 2.1!!
Congratulations Ibz! I am so proud of you! I honestly feel like this 'fight' for what you deserve was just a testament to you and another interesting chapter in your life story. Like watching through your videos, it is so clear that you have always had to hustle in your life and a weird poetic way, it is nice that the end of your undergrad journey reflected that. I will defo use this video as a source of motivation and inspiration whenever I need it (i.e. now lol, so perfect timing). Despite only receiving a third-class degree, he went on to write some of the best-selling fantasy novels of all time. It’s your choice as to whether you let this grade define you: talent, passion and hard work will take you further than a first class degree is capable of taking you. All the best!

First and foremost, congratulations on your graduation and your final grade!!! You DID work hard throughout MUCH MORE than 3 years in order to get that degree, through so many, many struggles that we only know some of, not all.
Secondly, congratulations for your continued hard work and determination to see that your hard work was afforded the respect and grade it rightly deserved instead of just shrugging your shoulder and thinking, “Oh well.” Ibz, since the start of your journey even way back in GCSE, it is clear you have had leadership qualities and have had to rely on those qualities to see you through some extremely trying times to ensure you are never treated or given less than you deserve. The fact you took on the “mystic” of appeal because you honestly felt it was the right thing to do, continues to speak volumes about your leadership qualities and your ability to face many more of the stresses and strains that will come your way as you progress in this adult life. So, I congratulate you on this decision and on not baking down from it because it was the right thing to do.
Thirdly, congratulations on receiving all the accolades and recognition for all you have done thus far in just a few short years to try to right the wrongs of the word log for others too and for showing society today that even a young lad from Hackney, with everything going against him, has and deserves a place at the table and is just as capable of achieving new heights as someone more privileged at the start through his own hard work and determination and that class, ethnicity, religion, sexuality or anything else should not limit possibilities but, more importantly, should not limit doors being opened and supported equally in this world. So, congratulations on the awards, on the recognition and on opening the possibilities to others to follow by setting the way.
Finally, congratulations on your experiences to date in your law conversion course and in finding a way to turn the worries of only a couple of months ago into a learning opportunity that will help you to take that next step. I am uncertain which area of law you intend to pursue, but may I suggest Human Rights Law? You could combine your knowledge and experience with education and psychology to help others in that field as well because Human Rights Law included education law and the psychological impact of war and/or totalitarian rule on the rights and outcomes in education of those who are not as fortunate as we are here or other Democratic societies. Just a suggestion though. I believed this is the same field Amal Clooney is in as well, so you could read up on it and her experiences and background.
Congratulations Ibrahim, you are a wonderful example for our young gene hereto on and for how persistence and determination can achieve even the greatest of impossible dreams!!!

Unis make the appeal process difficult on purpose 🙄 I went thru the procedural route (the psych department already hated me) and unsurprisingly, it was unsuccessful 😂

You’re amazing. You embody what it means to be a fighter and you have so much courage, honestly you’re an inspiration and your beautiful soul just emanates and glows from your body. During my undergrad I had it really tough, I had a nervous breakdown, anxiety went through the roof. My mother had psychotic episodes and often at times she’d run away, so I’d be driving around the neighbourhood late at night trying to find her. Then my only solid support system - my dad - died suddenly. So no there was no financial or emotional support from my family. My university was very considerate and very supportive of my work. Without my tutors I don’t think I’d of graduated with a first class degree. I’ve moved onto honours now (at a different university) and eventually I’m hoping to study medicine, but things are very difficult and many people are telling me that I should just give up on my dream. Due to having depression, anxiety and adhd, but I know I can handle the pressures of med school, as most of my issues stem from my family. I’m also a full time carer to my mum, whose moods fluctuate every day, hour, and second. She also suffers from a chronic and painful disease with no cure, so her mobility is limited. I have no one who can financially or emotionally support me. I see a psychologist and Dr. but it’s very hard and takes a lot of energy to change your neural pathways and form more effective and healthier coping mechanisms. I was working full time, but it didn’t allow me to study for the med entrance exam. So at the moment I’m living off benefits. With the extreme pressure to perform well - I need to get averages of at least 80% and perform well on the six hour med entrance exam - and make sure my mum is okay and ensure that I’m looking after my mental health effectively, it just seems so impossible. But, listening to your story has given me so much hope and at the end when you were showing your degree I was smiling like crazy.
