Yeah, Bishop technically survived the Xenomorph’s attack in Aliens, because Ripley booted “him” back up in Alien 3, in which “he” asked Ripley to permanently take him offline after their conversation had ended. But, I still consider Mr. Henriksen to be a part of that Terminator/Alien/Predator group, otherwise Bill Paxton would have to be excluded as well. We never actually see Bill Paxton’s character get killed by the Terminator, only thrown against a gate. As far as I’m concerned, they both deserve to be on the T/A/P list.
This one is pretty fun. I love the flashback scene of the temple being overrun by Xenos. I always really appreciated how unique the setting actually was for this one.
Aside from the rating, I thought this was a decent Alien versus Predator movie. You actually get to see the creatures fight each other, and the location looks pretty good.
I laughed so hard when Deadmeat covered this and when the female lead and the Predator both turned to run back to fight the Aliens, he said "initiate slightly romantic interspecies buddy-cop sequence"
Actually I don't have a hate for this movie that many people do. And I like the scene when the Predator's spinning the Xenomorph around smacking its head up against the wall.
That's why i wish we got more of Celtic. Something about a Predator absolutely bashing someone threw a wall or piece of structure is just something I never thought I wanted so badly. Not to mention that he was advertised like the same amount as Scar in the trailers yet he was killed way earlier to BS (That inner jaw shouldn't have been able to pierce through high grade metal). Its the treatment of the main Predators and the time setting that set this movie back for me but I love watching the BTS of this movie.
I thought the idea of a Predator teaming up with a human was cool, it shows that they know when they're in over their heads and when they need help, they ask in their way.
I agree that it was a cheap cop out to make the movie PG-13 since all the other Alien and Predator films had a solid R rating. But nonetheless, I felt that AVP was and still is a decent and fun popcorn action/horror movie. Sure it’s no masterpiece like Alien, Aliens or the first Predator film, but it was still entertaining to see the two titan monsters fight on the big screen.
I remember watching the special features on the DVD, and they said they were surprised when it got a PG13 rating, and that they didn't make any changes in order to get that rating. Could be BS, though.
I haven’t seen Requiem because it’s so dark and I have trouble with those kinda movies, but I have SO much love for the original AvP, it’s a nice contained plot and it’s honestly one of my comfort movies.
AVP uncut is an awesome film, Though I loved the theatrical cut, it's the Director's cut where it really shines as the fantastic monster melt that it is. As for "Critics" no real film fans cares 1 single bit what a "Critic" says.
One good example is the scene with the line: "La luna de cacciatore". That whole dialog was so cringe. Deplorable performance from those two "actors" That scene defined the whole film. As the lowest point of the film.. Some other scenes are completely ridiculous. Adding to the cringefilled plot at some parts. With so many bad parts. Bad acting, bad writing. And it drags down the whole viewing. Exactly the same as the alien queen was dragged down to the bottom in the end.. And I won't even bother with the hybrid "predalien" chestburster scene... Pfft 🤭
Lame rating. Lame characters. Bad looking Predators. It being set on "present" day undermines Ripley's whole goal of stopping the Xenomorphs getting to Earth
The team up at the end where they manage to communicate without having a common language is just so cool. 👍 Also I didn't realize "The Predator" had Lex's spear - that is literally the only cool thing about that movie.😂
I find it interesting the fact that by switching constantly shots from the original alien and this one, shows how well The first one has aged, since over 40 years later still has that timeless look thanks to the excellent cinematography and stunning visuals from Ridley Scott, and by comparison the later feels so dated due to the CGI and it's blonde cinematography!
I'd go as far as to say the original Alien movie has not dated at all. The biggest problem is that when you recommend a film made in 1979, most of the younger generation switch off and call you ''grandad''. I roll my eyes and hope a facehugger gets them 🙂

I liked both Aliens vs Predator movies. Yes, there could be a little more gore in there, but they were still good. I also miss a new game. The last time was 12 years ago. There are so few games on the market where you can be allowed to kill people as a monster.
There’s a lot of negativity towards Paul W.S. Anderson as a director, but you can’t deny that the man can work hard and effective. He shot a lot of his works in a pretty tight schedule (and sometimes on a pretty average budget as well), and those pictures (mostly) look gorgeous. Guess that’s one of the reasons James Cameron admires the man.

5:21 so to be fair they aren’t an unknown race (I forget if it’s mother or father in the first Alien film) put Ash on the team with the idea of getting hold of one of the Xenomorph’s so someone knew something back at WY HQ it’s also the reason a colony is set up there, the higher ups know something about the Xenomorph (not enough to be scared or smart) they are just making sure that anyone else that knows is dealt with quietly off the books, maybe it’s easy and they can be payed off or made to look like a loon that’s jumping at shadows but if they get too much attention we’ll then they have an accident.
This movie was okay, but I would've liked the movie to be set in the future with the Colonial Marines patrolling out in space and they receive a distress call from a planet and go down to investigate and encounter the Aliens and then a Predator ship arrives as well and there is an all out battle between all three forces. That way, you have the really cool weapons like the pulse rifles and flamethrowers and such.
I actually created a story for a new AVP movie that's set in the far future, but there's no humans at all. I call it; AVP: Survival. It follows a group of Yautja that have captured some Bad Blood and are ready to take them back to Prime through the space rift, till they escape and take over the ship. Heading for an unknown planet, nearly everyone dies in the crash apart from the Yautja leader, that discovers the planet is infested with Xenomorph. Why would the Bad Bloods lead the ship to this dead planet? My story is around the internet if you search for it.
My dad took me to see this when it came out I was probably like 10. I don't remember if I had seen any of the other movies before so this was most likely my first experience seeing Aliens and predators on screen. I absolutely loved it. Still watch this movie from time to time.
I love the original films and was absolutely addicted to the OG "AVP" game on PC; but even though this movie was decent, I didn't expect the aliens to be so sturdy and strong. Like, I always thought they were super fragile and sort of weak, but overcame enemies through massive numbers, speed, and exploitation of their environment.
AvP 1999 had the aliens chasing you even after losing an arm and a leg and maybe their tails and tongue if you were a good shot. They were faster than they were tough for sure though

AVP was NOT from a comic. The comic came from the novel "Aliens Vs. Predator," which was a GREAT read. Why does everyone think that Dark Horse created this shared universe? Too bad they didn't stick with the book's world because if they did, then AVP: Requiem would not exist and maybe, the story would have followed the story of "Aliens: Labyrinth" and "AVP: War."
"none of these games are based on this film" - not entirely true. The 2010 Aliens vs Predator game has an entire multiplayer map pulled from the Antarctica pyramid, and that one inevitably became the defacto most played level.
The movie IS pretty good, from a person trying to keep the lore together. However, die-hard fans will disagree. But worse, it's the lack of fighting of Predators vs Aliens. No, it makes sense why so few Predators, but a casual movie-goer would not understand, not until they read the expanded universe and it finally sinks in more why the movie is this way.
The biggest problem I think was setting it on earth, around a modern p1 p2 timescale to bridge the 2 universes, they should have kept it close to the dark horse avp graphic novel.
I really like both AVP movies and the game but i grew up watching these films in the late 90s and 2000s so I like a lot of films fan bases hate things like the Star Wars prequels, the NYC godzilla movie, Jurassic Park 3, Predators, Die Hard 4, the Josh Brolin James Bond films, the Friday the 13th reboot, Rob zombie's Halloween movies, etc. etc. only going back and watching the originals because of these films and thus becoming a fan of these franchises so they all hold special place in my heart even requiem
I actually a spec script for AVP prior to the film film--way back in 2000. In my script the Alien Queen that Ripley ejects from her ship at the end of the second film (Aliens) drifts, frozen through space until she is picked up by a Harvester ship, and--thinking to autopsy her, find her revived and gone from their lab. The Queen is hunted by those onboard, but manages to remain concealed--recovering--until the ship lands on the home world of the Harvesters. Once on the planet, and almost recovered from the damage inflicted upon her by Ripley, the Queen begins to lay eggs. The eggs are quickly discovered by the Harvesters--whose exo-skeleton protect them from infection begin a breeding program, and prepare to use the Aliens as warriors for their invasion of the closest planet to their own--Earth.
While not the masterpiece that is Alien, Aliens, Predator, or Predator 2, this movie holds up. It just came out 10 years too late because action films at the time were ramping down the gore and violence.
This one is a true guilty pleasure. As a fan of both franchises who had read a fair share of the comic books (Aliens, Predator, and Aliens Vs Predator) it was a disappointment: no gore, no scary scenes, the Predators looking like football players, and, above all, WHY ON EARTH WAS IT SET ON EARTH? The AVP comics were essentially set in the Alien universe but had the Predators in it - and it's not like the Earth setting saved them some money on locations, since they had to build everything in an abandoned sugar factory in Prague. If they had the money to build the pyramid, they definitely had the money for a terraforming outpost like in "Aliens" (which was partially shot in an abandoned power plant outside of London). That said, you can tell that it was a labor of love for Paul WS Anderson: I am not a fan of his, but every shot in AVP does show that he cared - it is possibly his best-looking effort when you really take the time to analyze it.
Dude I love that movie, own it as well. I have never really got why it seems to not get the love. It isn’t much off imo from any other movie aside from Predator 2, but of course the Alien movies were awesome…. This was a FUN movie. It is what it is
For a kids horror it's very good. And it's good enough to make Ridley Scott loan big chunks for his Covenant movie. The critics may say that the characters are cardboard cut but it works much better than Ridley's two latest where there are no likable characters at all which harms the possibility for suspense.
I really like this movie. I liked Lex as a lead, I liked the unconventional team-up, and the Alien/Yautja fights were GREAT! I also like the story between Lex and Weyland. It was brief, but it gave some sympathy to Weyland and understanding of Lex. And the special effects hold up today way better than they have any business holding up, considering. The only thing I don't like is the rating and the limitations thereof. I'm not surprised Cameron rates it.
I don't really give a damn what anyone else says, I have enjoyed all of these movies. They are all very entertaining. You need much plot plausibility when you have top notch effects and action.
Not gonna lie Arnold in AVP would have been so revolutionary, the only human known to survive an encounter with a pred and kill it called back to battle to fight another one plus a swarm of Xenos, talk about the money they would have made.

Basing the original AVP script on the comics was not a mistake. The mistake was the moronic Producer insisting it be set on earth. The fact that AVP was such a horrendously bad movie still irks me to this day. There was already so much source material to draw upon among books and comics but Fox decided to drive the franchises into the ground.
Thanks to this movie, Lance Hendrickson was able join Bill Paxton as an actor who was taken down by an alien, A predator, and A terminator.

I like the movie, but my main complaint is that the incubation period from face hugger to chest burster is too fast compared to Alien.
Still think they could build an AvP film franchise around Machiko Noguchi and it would kick ass.

This movie got easily forgotten,that’s what happened
"none of these games are based on this film" - not entirely true. The 2010 Aliens vs Predator game has an entire multiplayer map pulled from the Antarctica pyramid, and that one inevitably became the defacto most played level.
The movie IS pretty good, from a person trying to keep the lore together.
However, die-hard fans will disagree.
But worse, it's the lack of fighting of Predators vs Aliens.
No, it makes sense why so few Predators, but a casual movie-goer would not understand, not until they read the expanded universe and it finally sinks in more why the movie is this way.
Christ, I remember being in the cinema sighing out loud at the Batman/Robin run at the end 😂
The biggest problem I think was setting it on earth, around a modern p1 p2 timescale to bridge the 2 universes, they should have kept it close to the dark horse avp graphic novel.
Sanaa and the streamlined Xeno Queen design were the only things I liked about this movie.
I wish we could get a creeper v predator film.

I really enjoyed AvsP ! I agree with Cameron it's the 3rd best film in the franchise. I'd like to see Anderson do a follow up.
I really like both AVP movies and the game but i grew up watching these films in the late 90s and 2000s so I like a lot of films fan bases hate things like the Star Wars prequels, the NYC godzilla movie, Jurassic Park 3, Predators, Die Hard 4, the Josh Brolin James Bond films, the Friday the 13th reboot, Rob zombie's Halloween movies, etc. etc. only going back and watching the originals because of these films and thus becoming a fan of these franchises so they all hold special place in my heart even requiem
Having the Alien Vs Predator movie on Earth was the mistake.
I actually a spec script for AVP prior to the film film--way back in 2000. In my script the Alien Queen that Ripley ejects from her ship at the end of the second film (Aliens) drifts, frozen through space until she is picked up by a Harvester ship, and--thinking to autopsy her, find her revived and gone from their lab. The Queen is hunted by those onboard, but manages to remain concealed--recovering--until the ship lands on the home world of the Harvesters. Once on the planet, and almost recovered from the damage inflicted upon her by Ripley, the Queen begins to lay eggs. The eggs are quickly discovered by the Harvesters--whose exo-skeleton protect them from infection begin a breeding program, and prepare to use the Aliens as warriors for their invasion of the closest planet to their own--Earth.
Always viewed this as a fun popcorn flick.
Cameron later said he quite liked the first AVP movie third most of the Alien movies. Which is dumb but I kinda get it.
if they had a reliable more established director , this movie would have been 20x better
Requiem is a horror movie. I turn the lights off, watch it in the dark. I see things just fine and I like what I see.
While not the masterpiece that is Alien, Aliens, Predator, or Predator 2, this movie holds up. It just came out 10 years too late because action films at the time were ramping down the gore and violence.
This one is a true guilty pleasure. As a fan of both franchises who had read a fair share of the comic books (Aliens, Predator, and Aliens Vs Predator) it was a disappointment: no gore, no scary scenes, the Predators looking like football players, and, above all, WHY ON EARTH WAS IT SET ON EARTH? The AVP comics were essentially set in the Alien universe but had the Predators in it - and it's not like the Earth setting saved them some money on locations, since they had to build everything in an abandoned sugar factory in Prague. If they had the money to build the pyramid, they definitely had the money for a terraforming outpost like in "Aliens" (which was partially shot in an abandoned power plant outside of London). That said, you can tell that it was a labor of love for Paul WS Anderson: I am not a fan of his, but every shot in AVP does show that he cared - it is possibly his best-looking effort when you really take the time to analyze it.
Dude I love that movie, own it as well. I have never really got why it seems to not get the love. It isn’t much off imo from any other movie aside from Predator 2, but of course the Alien movies were awesome…. This was a FUN movie. It is what it is

I liked the films, but when they were announced I did hope they'd use the first storyline from Dark Horse.
For a kids horror it's very good. And it's good enough to make Ridley Scott loan big chunks for his Covenant movie.
The critics may say that the characters are cardboard cut but it works much better than Ridley's two latest where there are no likable characters at all which harms the possibility for suspense.
I really like this movie. I liked Lex as a lead, I liked the unconventional team-up, and the Alien/Yautja fights were GREAT! I also like the story between Lex and Weyland. It was brief, but it gave some sympathy to Weyland and understanding of Lex. And the special effects hold up today way better than they have any business holding up, considering. The only thing I don't like is the rating and the limitations thereof. I'm not surprised Cameron rates it.
I don't really give a damn what anyone else says, I have enjoyed all of these movies. They are all very entertaining. You need much plot plausibility when you have top notch effects and action.
It's not the Best, but it is Fun. And Great Battles with Practical Effects....
Not gonna lie Arnold in AVP would have been so revolutionary, the only human known to survive an encounter with a pred and kill it called back to battle to fight another one plus a swarm of Xenos, talk about the money they would have made.

AvP 1 and Predators were really good but the sequels were horrible.
They should know when to stop.
They need a remake now where Dutch says get to the space craft to the predators in the ending 🙄

Nothing happened, this movie dropped, changed the face of reality as we knew it, then life continued on.

Basing the original AVP script on the comics was not a mistake. The mistake was the moronic Producer insisting it be set on earth.
The fact that AVP was such a horrendously bad movie still irks me to this day. There was already so much source material to draw upon among books and comics but Fox decided to drive the franchises into the ground.
If they ever do another Alien vs Predator movie, they should throw in Riddick (from Pitch Black).
