- After sheltering in Khan Younis for 50 days, Bisan Owda was forced to flee again. She has now fled seven times, this time to Rafah.
Israeli forces dropped leaflets warning Palestinians to evacuate as they started bombing the areas around Nasser Hospital, the largest medical facility in southern Gaza.
About 1 million people, half of Gaza’s population, is now trying to find shelter in Rafah. Bisan says people know they won’t escape bombing there, but are fleeing anyway because of Israel’s expansion of its ground invasion.

If you are trying to equate atrocities, based on deaths alone, those carried out by the Israeli government are at least tenfold those carried out by Hamas or their predecessors, before Oct 7. Since then, deaths that we know about have reached 20-30 times that of Oct 7, with that to rise if we ever get the chance to search the rubble - and the bombs keep dropping. That is also not accounting for the thousands maimed or that Gaza is now uninhabitable. The death toll from that will dwarf the direct deaths from the bombing. Children are now dying of heart attacks brought on by lack of food, water and sleep - and from sheer terror. There are no medications or anaesthetics, so amputations are carried out without pain relief and infection cannot be controlled.
The bombing campaign is the most intense in history, with journalists and their families, schools, hospitals and refugee camps targetted - all war crimes.
Israel is acting against international law. It has so since it's conception. It has carried out ethnic cleansing, created an apartheid state, has occupied and besieged the Palestinian territories and is now committing genocide on the Palestinian people. Israel is ignoring the world's outrage and demands that they stop.

As a Brit, many of us here feel the same way. Our governments do not represent those of us who see that war, death, and genocide are NEVER the answer.
I've protested, donated to the Red Cross/Crescent and wish I could do more. I used to be proud that we were a country who stood up to the N-zis in WWII. I’m so glad you still alive. Seeing this video today January 11,2024 I hope you still alive. So many places being bombed it’s very difficult to keep track of where they bombed.
