This is the kind of music that gives you goosebumps that start from the back of the neck and work their way out from there. I also grew up listening to Flogging Molly, and I believe it's the reason I have an ear for punk rock.
I like how this song works in the traditional acoustic and also with the hard driving live electric version that's on the Live at the Greek Theater video.
A friend of mine asked me, "you're Irish, how would you sum up Flogging Molly" and I said "each line, in every song ends in UH". Cuz We find ourselves UH, in the same auld mess UH singing drunken lullabies... UH. Don't sink the boat UH, that you built to keep a float UH. Yeah. That sums it up UH.
Drunken Lullabies" Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Five hundred years like Gelignite Have blown us all to hell What savior rests while on his cross we die Forgotten freedom burns Has the Shepard led his lambs astray to the bigot and the gun Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies I watch and stare as Rosin`s eyes Turn a darker shade of red And the bullet with this sniper lie In their bloody gutless cell Must we starve on crumbs from long ago Through these bars of men made steel Is it a great or little thing we fought Knelt the conscience blessed to kill Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Ah, but maybe it`s the way you were taught Or maybe it`s the way we fought But a smile never grins without tears to begin For each kiss is a cry we all lost Though there is nothing left to gain But for the banshee that stole the grave Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies I sit in and dwell on faces past Like memories seem to fade No colour left but black and white And soon will all turn grey But may these shadows rise to walk again With lessons truly learnt When the blossom flowers in each our hearts Shall beat a new found flame Must it take a life for hateful eyes To glisten once again Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess Singin' drunken lullabies Singin' drunken lullabies
True. True. Unfortunately most folk cross us in a Pub in the throes of self-regret and loss and find that some stereotypes are all too real as they pick their teeth up off the floor. Slainte'.
Dave is phenomenal song writer and vocalist. Matt is just a really cool dude. But for the record I want to know, where the hell is the beautiful Reagan?
koo music indeed, but checkout dave kings' band he sang with back in the early 80's called FASTWAY now that was the shit still love that music .checkout his hairdo well your at it too. good times.....
+Christy Dolan: Dude, did you even _listen_ to this song? Because it's _literally_ the opposite of "stereotypical shite, crying over misery". It's right there in the title, for fuck's sake.
About carrying the burden of war and hate with you everywhere, and about how the generations pass it on. About how proud traditions, hopes and dreams have been all but fucked completely because of that fighting and hating, and about how hard it is to break that pattern. Or is that just me thinking with my arse again?
HOW THE F ! CAN YOU JUST SIT THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually im british and from nothern ireland ----- would you like to edit your previous comment lol bet you even have a british passport because you didnt want the hassel of changing your sterling to euro to get one
look up the IRA. that was freedom fighters that try to fight for Northern Ireland. There is still some don't want to under British rule even with a treaty. they don't have the numbers or weapons like they use to have
Aaaand it's good to see that our struggle is being taken seriously by the Americans. -.- 'Who the fuck cares?' is unsurprisingly how all of you seem to react when an Irishman gets shot by a British soldier.
i'm an alcoholic, and cant fight for shit , maybe my american side....ALL BULLSHIT... anyone can fight i just was raised around no violence..so not quite used to it yet.. hopefully wont have to..
His voice actually sounds like it does in the studio version

Lonely Potato Luck of the Irish!
This is the kind of music that gives you goosebumps that start from the back of the neck and work their way out from there. I also grew up listening to Flogging Molly, and I believe it's the reason I have an ear for punk rock.
Thank you God for Flogging Molly 🇮🇪
I like how this song works in the traditional acoustic and also with the hard driving live electric version that's on the Live at the Greek Theater video.
I just love irish songs, banjo, guitar, and all the other instruments you may find in an irish acoustic song. :)
This song has my respect.

LOVE FLOGGING MOLLY!

Change "uh" to "um" then move it to the front of sentences. Now you have the American version!

Drunken Lullabies"
Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Five hundred years like Gelignite
Have blown us all to hell
What savior rests while on his cross we die
Forgotten freedom burns
Has the Shepard led his lambs astray
to the bigot and the gun
Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies
I watch and stare as Rosin`s eyes
Turn a darker shade of red
And the bullet with this sniper lie
In their bloody gutless cell
Must we starve on crumbs from long ago
Through these bars of men made steel
Is it a great or little thing we fought
Knelt the conscience blessed to kill
Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies
Ah, but maybe it`s the way you were taught
Or maybe it`s the way we fought
But a smile never grins without tears to begin
For each kiss is a cry we all lost
Though there is nothing left to gain
But for the banshee that stole the grave
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies
I sit in and dwell on faces past
Like memories seem to fade
No colour left but black and white
And soon will all turn grey
But may these shadows rise to walk again
With lessons truly learnt
When the blossom flowers in each our hearts
Shall beat a new found flame
Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies
Singin' drunken lullabies
Jennifer Trippeer You left out the "UH" at the end of each line.
