Have been drinking this brand since the late seventies. And will continue to drink it until I am dust. I will say I don’t buy anything under 90 proof from them and the older stuff is better. It’s funny I believe that the hate is just a train most jump on because their favorite bourbon channel says so. I’ve given friends this bottle blind and no hate at all. The amount of product they source out is amazing. Again I would take George Dickle over all of the JD standard bottles and have. Now the new offerings from JD really can’t be beat but that I believe is proof point for sure. I think if GD would up the proof point to barrel proof it would fly off the shelf. Great review. Enjoy!!
Anything over 100 proof in the 15-year Dickel line is to be treasured. This is a bottle I always try to keep on hand, but typically I can only find it in the 80-84 proof range, so I also keep a bottle of their 13-year Bottled-in-Bond on hand, which is almost as good and yet will always have 100 proof. The lightness of the mouthfeel is from the Lincoln County process - a lot of the oils stick in the charcoal. I love the fruitcake notes that well-aged Dickel whiskey presents. I wish higher-proof 15-year Dickel single barrels were more common!
I have two bottles I bought for 70 a piece. They have a tag on them with a barrel date of January 20th 2004. 19 year old single barrel. The only down side is that it is only 80 proof.
I have not tried the fancier DIckel whiskys. Ive only tried the No 8 and No 12 varieties. I drink the No 8 all the time as just regular drinking whisky. Wasnt fond of the No 12. They are not as sweet as bourbon, as they are not bourbon. Sour mash. They are a bit more sour tasting and I like that sometimes. At other times, I drink Evan Williams BIB...cheap and tasty and potent....albeit a little sweeter than I like. I am no connoisseur...just an avid drinker of whiskey....cheaper whiskeys. Hillbilly!
I have >325 bottles of bourbons and ryes and tried at least 1/2 of them. The only 2 that I will not buy again are Blanton’s and Dickel 13 Year BIB. Have had 2 recent bottles of Blanton’s that tasted moldy and skunky. Gave them both away. I cannot stand the taste of the Dickel and gave it away also. I let it open up and tried to like it 3 different times. 🤮
Love Dickel products, the older age bottles are Awesome 👌 👍💯 , better than most BT products in my opinion 😉

Why do some of these 15’s have different ABV’s? I always look for the 50%+ ABV. Some are 40% and change

I've read that the 15 year is good when the abv is at least 50%. I bought a 40% abv bottle of the 15 year and it was bad.

Only 19 yrs if they it get pulled from the barrel until 2023
