Amazing!!Papiamento looks like a little with spanish,Portuguese!!!Awesome!
My partner! Of course you beat me to it! 💚 definitely a mixture of languages
60% of Papiamentu's basic vocabulary is mixed of (Afro-) Portuguese and Spanish.
This is amazing how quickly you pick up the language! In just 8 days on the island, very very impressed. I'm from Curaçao but have been living in Los Angeles for the past 6 years.
Hi Danilo, thanks a lot for the comment...I'm a strong believer in certain aspects of language learning strategy, I think we can all learn language more effectively than we may think we can
@@languagematrix I've been trying to learn Japanese for a few years but no luck
I was born on Curacao. You learned the language so quick and well. You have an accent ofcourse but I understood everything you said. Very well done!
Hi Janice, thanks so much for that...highly appeciated
Muito parecido a lingua de Cabo verde

Awesome that you picked Papiamentu in 8 days.
I've been learning Kabuverdianu myself as a native Papiamentu speaker it helps a lot. However, I havent been grinding lately as you did with Papiamentu. So kudos for your effort, man. Respect.
Super fun and expansive collaborating with you, Tony!
This is great Tony!! Inspired! Thank you for the cultural aspect, culture is my heart. I want to visit here now!
as someone who is trying to learn papiamentu(not papiamento important difference is that both are their own unique language) just to broaden my horizons and learn more about the people so intimatly connected with my own regardless of the dark past, this brings me motivation and hope that eventough it may appear daunting it is worth it
Great to hear that, thank you
This is so wonderful to see as a 'ju di Korsou' who is desperately missing home right now.
Hi Nerice, I can totally understand that
Nice video, I’m from Aruba, and somethings from the dialect of papiamento or rather, papiamentu spoken here is different than the dialect spoken in cura, If I met someone from there on the street we could understand each other if we spoke, but anyway nice video. And you had pretty good pronunciation when speaking
Hi Gabriel thanks a lot for the comment
Boso ta bisa e palabra “dushi” nu tiki te mucho. Pero por fin!! Nu video sobre papiamento
I miss curacao so much. I want to get a house or apartment there to live part of the year when I'm not working.
True, I miss it too, really, even though it was only my home for a week
@@languagematrix i hope you get to return soon. ♥️ I most certainly will
I'm from Curacao this is my first time I see this video, you amazing me how Good you speak it, and how quick you learn to speak papiamentu
Thank you very much!
there is a great advantage to multilingual people who want to learn papiamento. For Americans who speak only English it is more difficult.
Hopi bon! Saludos di Korsou!
Saludos!
Amazing! Great content & message felt like I was there!
Thanks a lot
Curacao papiamento has been proven to come from Cape Verde criolu
Similar, I hear
I'm sure ( cabo verde N Guinée Bissau)
You are correct in that. It's just that it has not become common knowledge yet to both Kabuverdianu and Papiamentu speakers. That's why I specically made a video on that topic while also including Guinense creole just a lil bit.
But that's a video for another time.
