    Thanks for your review of my favorite concept album ever. I could never say enough about the depth, complexity and moody feel from this masterpiece, along with the wizardry of Tony’s magnificent piano introduction. I do own an original pressing of the vinyls but it does have a bit of wear. So back in 1999, I would acquire a CD copy on the 25th anniversary of its release. I also have a bootleg CD copy as well. I’m such a fan of The Lamb that it’s at least worth considering the Atlantic 75 version. Sounds intriguing !!

    I totally agree with your estimation that this album is not 'dark'. While it certainly has more than a few of the typical Genesis darkish, Goth moments, I think it has a very positive message. 'IT' is a celebration of life and discovering that mystery.

    Hello, I'm new to your channel. I'm a huge Genesis fan, and The Lamb is one of my favorite albums from them. I really want to pick up that 4lp pressing of it. Now that the holidays are over, I'll look into it. I live in Norcal and sometimes travel to Berkeley to vinyl dig. Love how you compare this new pressing to older pressings. Great review!

    Your observation regarding the vocals is very interesting Jeff.
    I come across this also from time to time.
    It usually can indicate a more detailed instrumentation & better separation but sometimes something has got to give in this case maybe the vocals.
    Same thing if they concentrate to much bringing the vocals forward then they lose some detail in the separation of instruments.
    Just my 2 cents 😊😎

    I own an early Japanese pressing of _The Lamb_ as well as a US Porky cut, but I would be very interested in comparing this AP 45 with my Classic Records test pressing dated February 12, 2001, which will probably be a bit closer.

    I live across the Bay in SF and got my copy on Saturday; I've been looking for somebody else's review of it, and your's is the first I've found. I think it sounds awesome, but the thudding bassline on 'In the Cage' was a bit overwhelming; might need to make some adjustments. I was at the 'Lamb' show at Berkeley Community Theater in '75....

      You bet - Just finished listening to it again just now, in fact. I need to ask Acoustic Sounds if they've had any complaints about surface noise, though, because while it's far from horrible, there are more tics on these 4 disks than there were on 13 disks on my Miles Davis box set, which had about 4 altogether; my Acoustic Sounds 'Aja' and Jethro Tull 'Stand Up' are perfectly quiet, too.

    • @JeffersonDD

      @@larsman9169 it’s very “staticy” this time of year, not sure if that’s an issue for you. I noticed a little even after cleaning. A quick brush with a a regular fiber brush took care of it though. However if your noise persists contact AS and I’m sure they’ll make it right.

      Thanks so much for watching. Yes the album kicks ass:). And yes I used VSS sleeves, size 12.75 for the outer jacket, and size 12 for the inner leafs. One trick though; cut a 1” slit in the sleeves so they’ll expand over the wide spine and meet the adhesive edges. I should have included this in the video but that’s what I did at least

    I've got the Genesis bootleg from this album. It's very rare. I don't know how rare, but I've never seen it before. And I'm lucky enough to have found it. It looks just like lambs lie down on Broadway. But it's got different pictures on it and it's called swelled and spent. lambs lie down on broadway live. The normal albums got 3 pictures on the front. Well, this one's got 3 as well but different ; a picture of a doctor with a brain collection, A Man in a gorilla suit trying on shoes and Silhouette of hands in front of the physical graffiti apartments. The 3 pictures on the back have a man with a suit made of peanuts shells and a picture of a guy who's bald and he's got an eyeball in his mouth and there's a Indian woman with a sign in front of her that says positively no trust... I paid twenty dollars for it in baton rouge. I can imagine it's worth more. And the interior of each record just has a white sticker that says side one side two side three inside four, but I suspect this Bootlegg was put out by the band and it's record company. But I would give it a c+ in sound quality. Give me some feedback if anybody's heard of this Or they know how much it's worth and if it's really rare or not. it's called swelled & spent.. The lamb lie down on broadway= live.

    I think the best way to compare different pressings of the same album is to do it blindfolded so you don’t know what you’re listening to 99 percent of the time people will choose the newer version and most expensive version Just my opinion

    • @JeffersonDD
      @JeffersonDD  6 місяців тому

      A lot of folks think that “Blind Shootouts” are the best way to go especially with “confirmation bias”. Since I’m not really equipped to do that, I try to be as objective as I can. Friends Steve Westman and Patrick like to take digital rips of pressings, equalize them and do them blind, which is a pretty good approximation. Thanks a lot for watching.

    Hi, great video. I might get this AP Lamb version. You also mentioned Selling England. There is a second variant of that 2023 4x 45rpm reissue, where CB also has cut the fourth side. Any chance that you might know why it is so?
    Edit: Back to Lamb. I own a 1st press UK porky which has that famous "Lamb hum" on it. Regarding the vocals, I noticed the exact same thing as you talk about in the video of your Porky pressing. The vocal is very three dimensional on my system. I use a 3-way active speaker setup (1000 watt on each side) which are very good at separation. It sounds like Porky has used a lot of mid-range boost which lies in Peter's vocal range, making it come "out" almost as he is with you in your room. I am with you, split thought if it is for the better, but I found other instruments also "come out" like this, and it is definitely better than my other copy which is the 2018 Miles Showell 2x LP reissue (which is not bad), but it has that hum. Mine is a VG+ too.

    • @JeffersonDD
      @JeffersonDD  6 місяців тому

      Thanks so much for those details. I think it’s worth having this AP but that porky is strong too. 1000 watts per side?!? Bet that is insane separation! You must have very understanding neighbors:). Thanks very much for watching!
