Wow!! Great arrangement... You replaced the single notes of the "chiming drones" with two of them, that gave them a really chilly effect! I really love this effect. Also a great spin on the original repetitive soundtrack into 4 minutes of variation!

"Gone is the magical kingdom of Zeal, and all the dreams and ambitions of its people." This song... It's hard to explain - maybe due to being musically illiterate - but it has some undefined emotional effect on me. It evokes some kind of longing, that maybe in the context of the game can be better translated by that quote from Magus, when he was gazing at the ocean after the fall of Zeal. Longing for something that was, or maybe for something that could have been. I ramble. Thanks for posting this. I think the piano suited it really well. Good job.

Well, you did a very good job representing it. Particularly in the repeating section that plays around the 2:30 mark and then onwards. Maybe whatever feeling it evokes is not supposed to be described with words, after all.

This is like the best thing ever. Every time I watch it I'm amazed that the ostinatos remain so consistent throughout the whole piece. SO many great variations on the theme. For a second I thought you might be jumping to an Black Omen cover, but you did your own thing which ended up so so so pretty. I know this would have taken me 100s of hours of practice...if I were given the sheet music lol. I'm so impressed that you could invest in your own arrangement/composition and carry it so far. I have to say this was a big motivator for me to learn one of my dream pieces on piano. Thanks!

That means a lot that you're more motivated now to play this piece :) Chrono Trigger music is ... I don't think there are words to describe it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing the first time I played the game. I'm completely obsessed

I remember playing the game for the first time: being thrown into these completely strange times and environments, where the only clues as to what was actually happening was in the music itself. I used to wander around thinking about why the music sounded the way it did, and every new piece of dialog and story was there to help me figure out what the music was trying to tell me. So many instances: hearing the medieval-sounding Wind Scene when you leave the first canyon. Hearing the bleak 2300 themes. When I got to 12000 BC was when the musical storytelling really stood out to me. No idea where you are, and for awhile all you have to go off is that Zeal theme. SO SO GOOD.
Wonderful playing as always! I hadn't heard this song (maybe sacrilegious), so I went and listened to the original afterward. It has such wonderful and interesting harmony. Bravo!! =)

I'm in awe of the degree to which you captured this theme's pensiveness and loneliness (with every note lingering for 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 long enough) and of how well your embellishment at 3:17ish reaches an emotional apex not present in the original.

I've often theorized that Schala was not Janus' sister, but was, in fact, his mother and Queen Zeal hid the truth of her daughter's pregnancy. It adds yet another layer of tragedy to her already tragic character. Furthermore, I think she had the baby with an Earthbound One, which is why so many of the people of Zeal thought Janus had no magic. I have nothing to base this theory on, but I think there's a possibility.
