Very nice tribute to your dad! You're absolutely right, to all those who still have their dads, cherish the moments spent with them as much as you can. Even though I lost my dad, I became one and I try to be the best father to my kids, building good memories is crucial!! Peace

Wonderful list of gifts for dad, thanks. I bought the ballpoint Kaweco for my boss at Christmastime last year, and he loved it. Goldspot Pens based in New Jersey carries these too and offer personalized engravings for pens, and their turnaround is ridiculously fast. The personalized pen I ordered in November arrived in three days. Nice selection and nice people. It was really great what you said about your dad...he must be a wonderful man.

Good list (minus the knife ((though a Swiss Army knife is always handy to have)). Nice handkerchiefs are always welcome as are multi-tools. If your dad already has a notebook they like, it costs less than you would expect to get him a monogrammed leather cover for it. And if they still work in an office - a decent tie hanger might be something they need but never think to buy for themselves.

      Not into the knife choice?

@@CeeAreDee It's not the knife per se but, like you mentioned, carrying one daily can cause it's own host of problems. And for the amount of times when you're not camping that you'll actually need a fixed blade knife, it's not worth it if you ask me for outside of home use. A small Swiss Army knife will do you just fine in your day to day.

In America we love our knives. My grandfather gave me my first knife when I was 5 and taught me to sharpen it. I gave my son his first knife when he was around 12. A simple folding knife with a locking blade. I almost always have a knife on me. You would be surprised how often I use it on a daily basis. Most of my knives however are folding knives. My favorite one to date is the grismo Norseman. Made in Canada. Such an amazing pocket knife.

Completely off topic, but if I can only pick one should I go for a red wing moc toe or a danner mountain light?

Also would like to recommend the white river m1 backer. The ergonomics are excellent if you get one with g10 handles instead of the Paracord grips. I daily mine in a scout Cary. It may not be the prettiest but it really wont disappoint. Here in North Texas almost everyone Carrie’s a fixed blade.

Hmm. I’d go fit the red wing. Just cause they were my first. So it’s sentiment.

Yeah. It really depends where you’re from.

The Kaweco Sport in brass is great, I feel so much more intelligent when using it for crosswords : )
I have the fountain version, which is yours?

I just bought myself a wee Opinel no8 and I love it, plants letter cartons fruit and manner of sliceable shit . But whist making a Mojito at the weekend discovered I was covered in tiny very nippy nicks and slices! Also: Scottish and its wee enough to not get arrested for!
