I don't like the idea of being in an echo chamber and not even _realizing_ that I'm out of touch, so I try to listen to left-leaning sources in addition to the right-leaning podcasters I actually enjoy. The thing is...most of the left-leaning ones are *_FAR_* more out of touch than I would be if I only ever watched Fox News. Most of them have brain rot and spew uneducated, ignorant talking points, absolutely _saturated_ in vitriol for people they've never met and _cannot_ understand. I like ShoeOnHead b/c (despite disagreeing w/ her politically on most things) she *DOESN'T HAVE BRAIN ROT.* She does her research and even when I think she's wrong, I can tell she's coming from a place of compassion or trying to be reasonable about things.
The funny thing is...the handful of left-leaning people I listen to...have been leaning further _right_ as time goes on. Part of this is just plain ol' _reality_ smacking them upside the head, but the other part is seeing their former values carried out to their inevitable conclusions. It's...definitely an _interesting_ time to be alive.
I used to be a Democrat/Socialist before Trumps first presidency. About 1year in I was still delusional. It wasn't around the 2nd or 3rd year of his term I did a complete 180° flip and realized just how wrong I was and how much i had been lied to over and over for years
The hardest thing it was to convince me of back then is that i was being lied to over and over by people i trusted. When i finally realized i had been decieved it cut deep. Australian here, we also have universal healthcare. It is great for things like free ER visits, and very cheap ambulance coverage (free if on a pension/welfare), but the wait times really do suck. I woke up one morning and couldn’t feel the right side of my body (including half my tongue, which really is a unique experience). I had to either wait 6 months to see a neurologist & get an MRI , or go private and be out of pocket a few thousand for one appointment.
Fearing a tumour, I went private and found out I have multiple sclerosis, then because I’d just spent what money I had, I had to wait 6 months anyway to get into a clinic for treatment.
My daughter was on a wait list for 3 years before she got to see a specialist, in the meantime she would wake during the night in pain.
Universal healthcare is great, but it also sucks. You can get health insurance here, which removes the wait times, but there’s still a copay…and some of us can’t afford the premiums. Especially now that I’ve been diagnosed with a chronic health condition.

A week or 3 is the best possible wait time, in a relatively small country that's established the system recently enough that it hasn't yet purified. Inevitably, such a system will deteriorate over time until you have the government trying to actively off expensive patients so they can clear some line items off the balance sheet, as is already happening in Canada and is on the horizon in the UK.
