SOFT AND MOIST UBE BARS

  • These Ube bar recipe is very soft and moist bread, dipped in creamy ube/ purple yam syrup and dredged in shredded or dessicated coconut. Give this recipe a try and I promise you won't regret it.

    Ingredients
    UBE DOUGH
    4 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
    1/2 cup Powdered Milk
    1 Tablespoon Baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon iodised salt
    1 cup granulated white sugar
    1 1/4 cups water
    1 teaspoon Vanilla
    1 large egg
    1/4 cup canola/vegetable oil or any cooking oil
    1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter
    UBE SYRUP
    1 cup fresh milk ( you may use water or evaporated milk)
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 tsp ube flavoring (adjust as needed)
    1 cup dessicated coconut
    **Baked in a preheated oven at 150 degrees C for 30 to 35 minutes.
    **NOTE: Baking time depends on your oven.
    **Pan size : 9x12 inch rectangular pan
    **YIELD : 24 pieces of Ube bars, size is approximately 3 inch x 1 1/2 inch
    ****TIPS FOR BEST RESULT
    Adjust the sweetness and ube flavor of your UBE SYRUP according to your taste preference.
    DO NOT OVERBAKE to avoid crusty and dry bread.
    You can replace the butter with lard or vegetable shortening.
    Store in an airtight container
