Yes, sounds about the same as us. Were you able to dodge the rain to get hay baled? We’ve got hay that needs cutting, but it’s been so rainy for the last few weeks we haven’t been able to lay it down yet.
Yea i have the kubota silge special...no knive on mine either but heacier built and has powered scrapers to keep hay from wrapping on rollers....was just curious ty
l love all of your videos especially the hay making videos and I was wanting to know if you could do a video on how to hook up and unhook the hay mowers, hay Tedder, hay rake, and round balers and round baler monitors and how they work and operate and how to operate them and how to maintain them and get them ready for hay season and a walk around and an overview of the tractors and hay equipment this summer?
It doesn’t have knives in it but it has an auger/roller inside that helps feed the higher moisture hay into the baler while preventing clogs. It also keeps the hay from bunching up on the belts. We definitely recommend it for haylage.
Fun fact, if you're driving fast enough in big windrows and your bale size is set at 68 and you don't stop you can hit 73 before the bale is completely wrapped :)
Thanks for the tip! We can usually get a little extra on a bale if we are fast enough. For the most part we do 60” bales but sometimes it would be nice to be able to quickly bump it to max size when we are finishing a row or a field.
@@FarmerHunt I agree with you, the scramble to hit the right buttons can get challenging. I'm just glad we have that ability. My first comment was sort of a joke, you don't want to do it on a regular basis. I'm getting hard of hearing and if I get to daydreaming and forget to watch is how I found out about that. Bales wrap like crap though so not a good thing lol
The air temperature was cooler than normal and wouldn’t allow for a consistent moisture content in the hay without fluffing it. We had rain coming in at the end of the week and needed to get it to our target moisture faster. Had we not fluffed it we would have been in the 70+ percent range in spots baling it and would end up with some squatty bales. We have put the jack both ways. Really doesn’t make a difference.
Baled last week, fescue and Timothy. Fertilized with a perfect wet spring. 3.5 bale per acre. Bet ya’ll get the same. Well done. Sw Missouri.

Nice video,, the hay looked good
Thank you! Turned out to be a good first hay cutting.
I like the video guys. We never wrapped hay I like the way it looks.
Thank you! We try to wrap some every year and also put up some dry hay. The cows really like that wrapped hay.
Open station is the best station
I agree! Sometimes...
Maybe different with netwrap. Hold the retract button till past you tie size. Will bale till you hit the wrap button.
Thank you. I’ll look into that and see if it will work. I appreciate the tip!

Gotcha. Sounds very similar to what we’ve got.

Thanks for watching! We have plans for our next hay video to go more in depth into the equipment and how everything works.
We use an accumulator with our round balers.less trips over the field, less compaction on the grass, more yield on the cuttings.well worth it to us
I’ll have to look that up. Haven’t used an accumulator before. What kind of hay do you usually bale?
Alfalfa and some Timothy and orchard grass.the accumulator will pay back for you immensely
Thanks for the tip!
Hopefully I gave you some ideas!
Oh yeah, you definitely did.
Top notch haying operation. Quality should be great.
Thanks! We sure hope so.
This is really amazing! Thanks for making this one!
Thanks for watching!
Do you guys have knives in your baler chopping the hay as it feeds....been wanting to get into haylage i think

haha I can understand that!
I like your idea bout that button but that's just to hard on your baler
How so?
How to apply sir. Im willing to work with your farm sir.
Thanks! Unfortunately we are just a small farm and do not have any opportunities at this time.
If you wrapped it why did you Ted it? Also your baler Jack is supposed to be sideways, not straight up and down

@@FarmerHunt I gotcha. Yeah I just noticed it dragging hay a bit
Yeah it will pick up a little hay here and there. Not much though unless the hay is just really thick
