Lunch being referred to as dinner is likely a British thing. A lot of British people refer to the three meals a day as Breakfast, Dinner and Tea. They don’t often say lunch.
Third class on the Titanic was actually like the second class on other ocean liners. Second class was first class. First class was the mose lixurious hotels in New York or Paris.
3:53 if you wonder why the text on that tug boat is blurred out its because this was on the news when titanic sank and they didnt want to use the actual titanic on the news so they used the olympic, the olympic is almost identical to the titanic and they blurred out the text because it said new york or something and titanic never got there
The RMS Titanic, the most famous sinking ship disaster since the 1910s. I don’t understand why this decade was chaotic at the time. Love your content BTW. Peace. ❤️
My great-grandfather was one of these survivors of the Titanic and he told my Dad, that he was going to have dessert and then the ship started to sink. XD
You know the meme about the lobsters in the kitchens on the Titanic being freed? Well, actually, it isn't right because the seafood freezers were on the stern of the ship. And those who don't know that part of the Titanic imploded, killing the lobsters.
Thank god! The last thing we need are more lobsters!! I have no idea who thought a water spider looked appealing to eat when they first discovered them...
The Mauretania picture at 12:32 is actually a picture of the Mauretania 2. The original Mauritania, which is the one the vid is talking about, was launched in 1906 looked almost the exact same as the lusitania.
Yeah Mauretania is my favorite ship, I thought it was funny they had a picture of the second one that wasn’t built until 26 years after Titanic had sunk
Smoked herring for breakfast is quite common in parts of the world. In South Africa most days with breakfast I would have a helping of pickled herring.
So to explain the diner, their are many people who call it diner but from what I understand, diner is when you're off work typically during weekend, having a meal with the family at noon is diner. Having a meal at work or school at noon with coworkers is lunch. That's how I remember it.
Man you brought back memories as my grandma, who was born in 1940s, referred to the 3 main meals as breakfast, dinner, and supper up until she passed last year
Fun fact! The third smokestack (or fourth) wasactully a room for people in first and second class to smoke! So it was a fake smokestack! And also possibly a area for kitchen ventilation*! Edit: I mispelled ventilation lol
Fun video :) Does not surprise me they had some caviar, it has been eaten for a long long time, however caviar has to be one of the worst expensive food i've had :D I live by the ocean and i feel i might as well go down to the beach and lick rocks for similar taste :)
Like what Ducky said, The photo of the Mauretania was the Mauretania II. Also, the Lusitania was a Royal Mail Ship (or Steamer), and that abbreviates to RMS, so Lusitania was not SS Lusitania, it was RMS Lusitania.
FYI: Tasting History with Max Miller already did a whole series on the TItanic series last year or so about the food. Check it out, great youtuber and super informative!
The ship at 12:28 on the right is the second RMS Mauritania, not the first one which was a competitor of the Titanic. The one shown in the postcard was built in 1938, 26 years after Titanic had sunk

We most definitely say lunch, saying tea is more of a northern thing or an old fashioned thing
@@edwardliley9547well, it was the 1910s. pretty old fashioned, don’t you think? 😅
Places in the US still have dinner and supper.
Wrong
It's mostly us Northeners that use Tea to describe Dinner
Here's a cool little fact for y'all the last funnel on Titanic was used for extra ventilation and to air out Titanic kitchen
@@haydenmcdaniels6284 it also vents out the first class smoking room. (I think)
@@Crazy_Caleb2009 oh yeah ur right that too
It also vents the engine room, as the engine hatch was often not enough. Especially for the turbine room.
Funnel 4 was also placed to make Titanic look more powerful.
atleast it has a use.
nothing can beat the last meal
The sea water ?

As a kid I just associated third class with being poor, not realizing that you need a formidable amount of fortune to board the Titanic at all

also hardly any photos or videos about the Titanic because the Olympic came out first.
Let's get you 1k subs!
@@Rongreñas also has to do with the fact that Titanic wasnt really cared about much back then, as it was seen as just a bigger olympic

You should’ve had tasting history with Max Miller for this video he did this before
His vedio are interesting and does good job on research as well.
Is this the titanic? "No this is Patrick".
Is there any existing cooking instructions for these recipes? I know the basics like ham, eggs, bread and butter but I’m curious about the rest
I always find it fascinating that the two most famous shipwrecks in history, the Titabic and Lusitania were rival ships.
I like how Motivated the guy on the right is. Xd
The way how the cooks probably got the shrimp was by fishing for them on the ship 😂
We need to show this to Ocean Liner Designs
Okay… now this is SUPER COOL!
it's nice that even those going on the cheapest trip were fed and cared for well~
it kinda blends in the lines!
If only RMS Titanic didn't sink. Would love to board it and taste those meals myself.
Sadly it probably would've been scrapped and it would've just had been a normal ship like everything else.
Or it would’ve been placed next to the queen mary in California or somewhere else
Man you brought back memories as my grandma, who was born in 1940s, referred to the 3 main meals as breakfast, dinner, and supper up until she passed last year
I’m hungry now, good job. This video and the one about the 100 years of military food one made me hungry

2nd class was ignored just like the middle child 😭
Lamb with mint jelly for second class is wild. That’s some fancy stuff to me
Hey sonny how bout a little ice. Waiter:yes ma’am. Thank you *iceberg passes by the ship*
Now eat them underwater for a authentic experience 😂
Finally, death came to no class. Ah, fair enough.

The photo you used for the Mauretania is actually the Mauretania 2 from way after titanic, the original one has 4 funnels
Yeah, the first class was definitely an experience to die for
Another sick video😂❤❤
This is the first video that I came to understand an hour
I felt bad for the third class when the ship was sinking

In the south we still call "Lunch" Dinner and Supper is our final meal of the day. So its Breakfast, Dinner then Supper.
12:22 "Two very very fast ocean liners"
I guess not fast enough to dodge torpedoes
12:25 correction: the picture is Mauretania ll, the first Mauretania has 4 funnels like her sister Lusitania
That thumbnail hurts

No 1st class Lamb. I distinctly remember Billy Zane ordering the Lamb for him and his SweatPea.
The Titanic is so luxurious that God wanted to experience it himself.
And it's crazy to think Cunard still operates passenger ships currently.
