Hey sweetie, thank you so very much. I'm an old fart and the brain doesn't work like it used to so I always go to UA-cam when I need help. I wish everybody could take their time and not skip any steps when describing how to perform a task. You just don't know what we senior citizens have to go through. First the sex drive goes or either we are just too tired or just don't care, and then the ability to remember the way to get get home from a doctors appointment... thank you Google Maps. Anyway I love people like you who take their time to explain stuff to us senior citizens.❤❤❤
I bought something at a farmer's market from a seller who used a portable terminal. He said "Tap it," and I started tapping it with my finger! OMG. I was so embarrassed. In my defense, I thought you had to tap something to confirm the purchase or confirm you were about to use your card. I've been avoiding these terminals since. But now that I watched your video, I feel more confident. Thank you for making it.
Don't feel bad, I take some pride in figuring these sorts of things out. However I could never figure out this, so I figured I had to activate something. Turns out I'm just tapping the card instead of letting the scanner read it..... At least with you you followed directions exactly.
@@High5748 Your message was so sweet and kind. Thank you! Here's to both of us making future purchases with ease and teaching other people how to use this crazy, new technology if we come across anyone trying to figure it out. 😀
The first time I tried it I tapped everywhere except where I was supposed to! Finally I just laughed and said “help”! Cashier was very nice and helpful!
Thank you for this video! My bank sent me a contactless debit card, which I had mixed feelings about because I didn't love the chip card and this didn't seem like a step up. I've had several "Wait, where do I tap?!" moments in public that have been embarrassing. Knowing that it's simpler than I thought is very comforting 😊

I tried to do this in the supermarket yesterday and felt so dumb because it didn’t work. Thanks for your video I’m willing to try it again with confidence.
A few days ago I received my new card and noticed that it had the tap to pay option. I have used it several times since and really like it. Your video was concise and very helpful. Thank you for helping out us newcomers to tap out here.
I'm here because my habit is to insert the card, but at ALDI today, it could not read it, so I swiped it. When I swiped it I thought .... ummmm ... time to learn about TAP. Thank You!
Yes. I live in the Virgin Islands so this payment method is pretty new. Usually the cashier took the card and we did the pin or sign etc. Now it’s all tap to pay in the last few weeks. Looked pretty dumb today so here I am. Thank you for the info. Much appreciated!🤦🏼♀️

Thank you so much for this video. I've been having trouble with chip readers ever since I went off to college. You are definitely not alone. I always prefer to know about something before I try it so that I don't feel like an idiot, and I think a lot of us humans are like that! Plus, many times, there are people waiting in line to check out and I didn't want to hold them up while I figured this out. I think maybe the only minor detail that could have been added is that with cards with the chip, you want to tap with the the chip side area of your card. Thank you so much for this awesome video!! ❤
Glad I could help! I'm actually working on another video right now answering more questions about this and found out that there's a little wire antenna that goes all the way around the outside edge of the card, so it truly doesn't matter which end you use. It'll work either way!

Oh Thank God.... I thought I was completely stupid because I couldn't figure this out. I'm a graphic designer and am at my computer all day long - you'd think I should understand technology. The problem, I figure out finally, is that all of the tap to pay or swipe to pay machines are different. Much like when going to a gas station - the pay machines are different - some ask you multiple questions before you actually pump the gas, while others don't. Thank you for your awesome video - I'm so glad that I don't have to be technologically challenged on this one any longer.
I always stick my card in the slot, but I saw on the news that there are these new and improved super tiny card readers that scammers are sticking in those slots to steal your card information and they suggested for people to do the tap and pay instead.
