An airport hotel is worth the cost if the location saves you from dramatic transfers to the airport, especially in the earliest hours of the morning. The breakfast did look nice. On 'rained out/too cold' days, I head to museums and art galleries. There will always be some amazing museums/art galleries in almost any city! Thank you for the video!
It was a tough debate; stay in Helsinki, stay at airport but we had to be at the airport at 5a - Yikes 🙈 the deciding factor. When Steve and I are rained out or too cold, we take the “people with no brains or culture way out” - nap or read. 😂 Hee-hee. 😘
I'm so happy the video helped you plan. My channel goal is to help other travelers (as well as entertain 🤣) and I'm excited when videos do make travel a little easier. Thanks so much for your time to view and comment. Best to you, Sheila 😍
Finnish foods and healthy greenish ingredients are the best in Western world. I mean, it seems like Finnish style is plain but deep inside Finnish culture is so amazing. I mean, the honesty, the hospitality, the empathic to people, the authenticity. I do not think in the world, many countries have those kinds of traces.
Hi Wendy. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment. Hope my own comments didn't come across as negative! I love vegetables but have a problem with 'green' at breakfast 🤣 Very best to you and Finland! And thanks for your time to view and comment. Sheila 😍
@@SheilaSimkin I am not Finn but I never experienced anywhere in the world, where people are authentic and honest, and foods are super healthy. Finland might not look so fancy with colors, but the quality of its is amazing.
Looks great! I know it was out of your control but the Scandic opposite the opera house is on the Finnair bus route and will drop you from outside the terminal to the front door. Hope you made the most of your day in Helsinki. X
Never did go into Helsinki again! Had to do the dreaded covid tests before flying home, day was dreary so we said, “Forget about it.” Again, only stayed by airport because we had to catch such an early flight! 🤪
@@SheilaSimkin I know it would’ve got in the way of the test , but Tallinn a easily accessed on one of the many ferries , it’s about 2 hours crossing and they do many day trip options. One to consider next time the weather is better and you’re up that neck of the woods again. X
They also do a an old steamer in the summer called the ‘Runeberg’ that takes you to the old city of Porvoo. The sailing takes you up through the beautiful archipelago and they do mean salmon soup onboard. You can get a bus back or the slow boat back depending on how much time you got.
@@MultiJ4E You always have the most interesting suggestions that I know nothing about. Only fine I had the time and energy to act on them! 🥰 But keep them coming!
So, when will Marine Steve do a breakfast review? And where does he go when you do your buffet walk-around? BTW, I look forward to the Bloody Mary review on your UA flight back to the US.
He never walks around the buffet. Grabs a plate and digs into the nearest platter. Then asks where to find the goodies that I’ve scouted out when I come to table with my choices. He is very AD (attention deficit) which is why you will NEVER see a review from him, David. 👎

Excellent breakfast buffet and I loved the convenience of the hotel to the airport.
Such a pleasure to see an actual and huge buffet! Reminds me of the old days… that seems to have been gone forever 🙈
Beautiful
The lobby is much prettier than the ordinary rooms but not complaining. It was ultra-convenient! Best to you and thanks for your views. Sheila 🥰

@@wendyuskkonen2317 I don't know about the 'colors' but the sunset at the airport was beyond incredible. 👍
