Design by ALA architects, same designers as in Oodi library, for example. BREEAM excellent, so very energy efficient airport. Finavia claimed it to be carbon neutral. Cool airport, it wiped out my nervousness when taking my first flight ever from HEL to LHR and then back 6 days later...

The purpose of this airport is to connect the West with the East, so it makes sense to invest strongly into it. Unfortunately, due to Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and the subsequent closure of Russian airspace, this airport can no longer serve that purpose, at least until the war ends.

It is sad. But in my experience Finnair has such a strong following here in Europe so I haven't seen a change. The folks that travel to Japan still choose Finnair. I'm traveling to Japan in 2025, with Finnair and one of the highlights is showing my whole family this beautiful airport
Really, Lappeenranta Airport is closed? I had no idea! I actually lived in Lappeenranta for two years and have such fond memories of flying from there to Milan, Vienna, and Budapest. It was such a charming, small airport-always a lovely experience. It’s sad to hear it’s no longer open. 😢💔

because it has closed all other airports in the country and sacked all the gov resources/ lappeenranta is an example 🙄 😢🎉❤❤❤
