    People just need makeup styles that fit their face AND personality. Makeup can work on anyone but we wont all have the exact same features or personal style.

      @lupitamendiolar5262 Рік тому +416

      Exactly! Personally, as a Latina, I don't fit the standard of having bold facial features, so glammed Latina makeup with full, dark eyebrows, deep lipstick, bronzer and concealed edges isn't going to fit me. My features are soft and semi asian. Therefore, softer, korean inspired and douyin makeup is going to suit me a bit better.

      @@lupitamendiolar5262that's interesting! As a South Asian with an apparently "unique" face, i find that a combination of east asian makeup style and american/Latina makeup style suits me the most. Although i won't lie, i enjoy messy and not-very-perfect makeup sometimes. There's no rules and if you have an open mind, you can feel beautiful in that style no matter how odd.

      @@AdoreableGamingsame! And i naturally have THICK brows. I personally don't like to shave or pluck my brows so i just lay em back, outline how i want my brow to look with a shade matching concealer, not a lighter one. Then i apply a pencil that's a dark brown, not black. After that i use a brow mascara that's a similar dark brown to the brow pencil and voila! It looks great on people that have bushy brows and adds nice balance to any makeup look! Sometimes i also like to use doja cat's advice from a vogue video and put some mattifying setting powder on my brows to prevent the light from "deleting" them.

      @@mahdireza5695 i do the opposite of setting powder with my eyebrows, because i look too severe and intimidating if I don't tone down my extemely dark brown eyebrows. Sometimes I bleach them, other times I just coat them with a light shimmer color. It's really fascinating how many different things people do to get their features to their liking/suit them better.

      Yeah. Her blush is really close to her eyes and a little overpowering. I think it might have looked better if she brought her blush down a little bit. Personally, I feel like her eyebrows are also overpowering her face as everything else is kinda soft and less defined and her eyebrows are very structured and dark. I honestly feel like her lips and the glitter around her eye isn’t that bad.

    Not everyone looks good with East Asian makeup. Lip gradient isn't necessary and it doesn't suit everyone. I look better with lipsticks all over my lips not only at the center of my lips. But this video teaches us that everyone should do k pop idols makeup as if western makeup is the problem. No it's not.

    • @sugarskulls2817
      @sugarskulls2817 Рік тому +226

      yeah i've followed techniques for east asian makeup and have had to concede it just does not work on my western features. I think the glitter in the center does look nice but I think western faces need more 'shading' on their eyes overall too to help them pop, and the lip gradient really only works if you have full lips. if you have finer lips, you need it all over and to overline slightly to get a good look depending on what you're using.

    As a white person who likes to do douyin makeup, it is definitely not the face or the eye shape or anything like that usually. It's just actually knowing where to put it. I've seen a lot of white women attempt to do this kind of makeup and get all the praise in the world even when their aegyeosal looks like an eye bag because they have no idea how to work with that area. Yes, there are some makeup styles that work better on some faces than others, but really I find it to be way less important than the actual understanding of the effect and techniques.

    personal color too. if you wear shades that are too dark, too light, too vivid, too cool or too warm for your skin, you may have a hard time making it work harmoniously with your skin and features

    So if you don’t do east Asian makeup it’s “terrible”?bc some ppl have face shapes that don’t suit that like lip gradient and glitter doesn’t suit everyone like that either and there is no “right way” it’s called makeup because you get to make everything you do up not everyone has a Korean face shape

    it just has to match ur face, button nose contour makes my nose look bigger so i leave the tip of my nose contour open, i dont fill in my eyebrows because it looks to harsh on my soft face, i cant overline my top lip because i have duck lips, inner corner eyeliner looks horrible on me for some reason

    The Lipstick Trend _doesn't work_ on gals like me with *2-toned Lips.* I literally have a different color on the outer part of my lips and this method makes it MORE unnatural! Unfortunately, the old Sultry Lip style is the best I can do on a quick day with no Foundation. [And Foundation doesn't even easily cover it either.]

    I wouldn't say that everyone needs to follow this. Makeup is subjective and more than anything should fit the person's face shape. It takes more than just advice like this for an individual to understand how best to do makeup for them. The art of learning how to do your own makeup is the art of understanding your own features, your own beauty and what would enhance that. Where I would place my blush would be different to someone with a different facial structure to me. How I would do my eyeshadow would be different to how my best friend would because she has monolids whilst I don't. You have to learn how to follow the shape of your eye. The shape of your cheekbones. The shape of your nose and lips. Makeup is individual. Some techniques which look nice on certain face shapes, and just as importantly, certain skintones, may not look nice on others. So when asked why your makeup doesn't look as good as it does on someone else, rather than copying how others do it exactly, use that information and adapt it to fit yourself. And if something looks wrong, if something seems off. Its okay. Just try again. Makeup, just like any other form of art, is a learning process.

    I grew up in a very strict/abusive home and so I never learned how to do makeup. As a 28 y/o woman the most makeup I've worn is eye liner and mascara, I couldn't do it. I'm only now starting to rethink makeup, and have been trying it, but I just didn't know how. This is so helpful because I was making all those mistakes.

    For me,, my eyes are hella hooded, so it's actually better to put a whole bunch and completely cover most of the eyelid,, or you hardly see it with my eyes open(I usually only wear makeup for performances, so this obviously leans a bit heavier than if I'd do it daily,, but for that, I'd still do the same concept, just apply it lighter),, I tend to do gradients tho, usually inside light, main colour middle, and dark outside,,, so its not like its one blob of colour,,, I'd really say what matters with makeup is figuring out what works on your face,,,, also, altering colours if necessary to ones that fit you,, i remember one time for a photoshoot i had been assigned a burgundy sortbof red and it made me look so washed out and sickly even though the way I wore it should've looked good and definitelywould've if I was wearing a red-gold instead,, so definitely experiment with different shades and colours if something doesnt feel like its making you look your best

      Hooded eyes are the worst🥺 i have them too & thought i was always just TERRIBLE at makeup! i searched on youtube for “how to do eyeliner with hooded eyes” and “how to do eye makeup or eye shadow with hooded eyes” & watched like 7 of the top videos got some amazing tips, but im nervous to even try because makeup has always looked so bad on me & i spent so much of my savings on korean (& some american) makeup while i was feeling manic this month😂😭 so if i cant figure it out or make it work for me, ill freak out over how much i spent even more lol😭 Im American but douyin makeup looks started popping up on my UA-cam & i just fell in love with it! But its going to be even harder than american makeup for me so it was probably a TERRIBLE idea🫣
