    What sonar do you use with your chartplotter

      I use the traditional view. I have a 2kW R111 in hull transducer.
      I made a video to show the exact set up that I have and what has replaced what I have new from Garmin.
      You can see that video with the below link:

      @@pescatarianfishing I tried to find the shift option on my Echomap 94sv, but unfortunately couldn’t find it following your directions. It must not be offered on my model or there’s another way to get to it. I’ll keep trying because that is a game changing feature. Thanks again for sharing.

      @capt.tonydupree it might not be available on that model. It really makes a massive difference when targeting bottom structure and bottom fishing.

    Great video’s Captain. I’m from Australia. We target squid & bottom dwelling fish in the ocean, but not at the depths you’re describing more like 20 to 40 feet. I’ve got a ECHOMAP UHD 95sv. Could this same effect be achieved by zooming in on the bottom.

      Thanks for the support all the way from Australia! You can zoom and in 20-40 feet it might not distort that much but in the depths that we swordfish, if you use the zoom feature it will get very distorted. The shift feature basically excludes any other area that you do not select and the transducer solely focuses on the selected depth range.
      I would imagine that in 20-40 feet the zoom feature should work perfectly.

    Thanks for the detailed explanation. Actually amazed that the R111LH sonar works with gpsmap xsv .. in garmin selection guide it shows the only compatible unit is the gsd26. Is there a separate connection you’re using to make it work with the xsv unit? Thank you.

      You are correct. That transducer will not work without a GSD box. We have the GSD26 on our boat. I love the transducer. The only thing that I would do different is get the 3k for the next boat. This one is a 2k. It reads amazing but I always wonder what an extra 1k watts would look like.

      Just so you know, you can apply that shift feature to any transducer and it will work much better than just trying to read from the surface to the bottom.

    Is this different from running the zoom feature in a narrow range? I run a B175M and obviously can't penetrate like your R111LH, but will absolutely try it.

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing  Рік тому +2

      Yes, this will give you a better image on the screen than the zoom feature because it will not distort the image. The sonar will only focus on the range that you selected. You can apply the zoom after you have selected the range and the image will be much better than if you were to use the zoom feature from zero depth to the ocean floor

      @@pescatarianfishing Thanks! Can’t wait to try it!
      Maybe you could do a short video on how you distinguish hard bottom from the soft that you showed.
      Thanks for the great content!

      That is a great idea. I will add it to our video schedule. We balance charter and commercial fishing with recording.
      Thanks for the idea and the support!

    Can you please do a full video on your screen and transducer set up

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you for the great idea. I cant believe I didn't think about that sooner. When I was getting our boat built I spent months researching what I wanted to go with. I will start working on it. that video idea can really help out a lot of people who are unsure what to install on their boat. Trial and error with marine electronics can be very frustrating and expensive. Thanks again for the idea, be on the lookout for the video in the upcoming weeks!

      👏 I know it would definitely help me out. It seems to have no videos out there like that .

      I started the research on all the specifications for what I have already so you and other people get a good understanding of what I have and if you were going to buy new, what is new from Garmin that is the replacement models for what I have.
      I have a busy week this week and next with fishing but I will work on the video between fishing trips. Should have it completed and posted by the end of this month

    • @pescatarianfishing
      @pescatarianfishing  4 місяці тому +2

      @SWFLOUTDOORS239 I am working in a video now to show exactly what I have installed in my boat, the compatible Garmin devices for what I have in case the viewer wants to retrofit their boat and then it will show the new models that have come out from Garmin that are the replacements for what I have. We should have it out in a couple weeks.
