This is one of the songs I can't listen to without crying like a baby. The pathos is palpable, especially given the tragedy of his 4 year-old son's heart-wrenching death. The slide guitar is exquisite. The blues at its finest. Kudos, Mr Clapton.

The first time I heard this song was a few weeks ago on a streaming service while working in my office. The lyrics drew me withing seconds of stopping the song because the tears were welling up in my eyes.
Eric Clapton may have written it for a specific situation in his life but I think everyone can identify with it's tragic beauty as to how it applies to us all.
