THANK YOU! This clear, step-by-step tutorial was just what I needed to get the Hullavator put together. I was referring back to you more than the instructions themselves, and your video was the reason I was able to do everything right the first time, with confidence. I’d recommend your video to anyone looking to install this product.
I could not have done the installation without this video. The instructions are minimal. I watched this video like 15 times during the installation. Super thankful !!!!
I just put together my Thule Hullavator thanks to your video!!!!! There were so many nuts and bolts and the instructions that came with it weren't that great. I just followed you along step by step and it went together like a breeze... THANKS 🙃
I just want to thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was so helpful! Saved my marriage...we were headed for divorce court over this installation lol! Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this. I assemble furniture for a living but the instructions on this product were trash. I wish I found your video before I wasted an hour trying to decipher the instructions. Thank you!
I really appreciate your videos on the Thule Hullavator, especially the installation as the included instructions aren’t exactly clear. Thank you for sharing your unbiased videos. Keep it up.
Thanks so much for the great video. Just enough detail without going on and on. Just received my racks and will use this video to help install them. Thanks again!
WOW - what a life-saver, Thanks. Great Video with careful and well explained directions - well done ! A helpful comment from our local Thule Dealer regarding mounting the bracket to the Wing Bars (@3:00 in the video) was to place the square nuts for the T track just partially on the bolts. With the nuts loosely on the bars, one can then slide the bars (with bolts & sq. nuts on) into the slot from the ends of the Wing Bars. From there the assembly would be much the same as you did - except you wouldn't have to fumble trying to get those bolts entered into the T nuts. Thanks !!
Thank you for this really instructive video. I had the install done at a rack place, didn't know how to install or uninstall the Hullavator from the bracket. Now I do, easy-peasy. Thanks again!
Great video! Thule really needs to work on their instructions. I knew what I had to do, but I ditched their measurements and attached the bar mount similar to the way you did it. Thanks man; really helpful!
Thank you for this video. Question: If you dont have Thule crossbars or crossbars with the T-slots, are there clamps available to mount this rack on regular (no T-slot) crossbars?
It’s a little bit annoying that Thule don’t advertise this. I just replaced Thule square bars with probars because Thule now say the Hullavator only work with probars.
Thanks very much for this video. It helped my greatly yesterday. I probably wouldn’t have been able to assemble my Hullavator without your video as the instructions are rubbish.
Thank you! I've been overloaded and then to open this box.... I hope this works the same with the yakima jetstream bars because I can't find specific instructions on that.
This was very helpful, thanks. Our challenge now is we have to remove our Hullivator on occasion to allow me to install our SUP rack. It's easy to remove the big Hullavator sections but I also need to remove the bottom plate as well. I take it that the best way to do this is to remove the top two center screws for each plate and then just lift it off, does that sound right? The dealer though was suggesting loosening the screws on either side of the plate, removing the end cap, and then sliding it out. That doesn't make too much sense does it?
@@MaysDayz We didn't have to remove anything, we just loosened the two screws and slide the bottom plate out. Very easy. We now switch quite easily between our Hullivator and our SUP rack
I just intalled the 53" Thule wingbars on my new 2023 Honda CRV. Tomorrow I will add the Hullavator, but I'm really worried it's not going to work as I only ave 3.75 inches of overhang on the bar. I know they say 4 inch minimum, but I'm hoping I can squeek it out!
Just want to say that this video was super helpful!!! We just used this to install our hullavator that we ordered last year and came in December, lol! Many thanks! Oh and we used the Thule wingbar evo crossbars.
@@AutoSensation the part I have is very flat. Does it normally come with 2 options? I know it says can be attached to square bars but I only see the aero being demonstrated.
How much distance is between the car door and the hullivator when its down. On another note, have you ever seen anyone install this without the 4 inch overhang onto just a regular factory cross bar successfully?
Good video . The 4 inch bar out is not always needed.Depends on the vehicle being used. I have has as little as 2 inches and the hullavator gets no were near the side of the car. Test it with weight to be sure though.,
Thank you! This helped! I just installed mine on the Thule Evo wing bars. The new evo wingbars are definitely easier as it has a new split weatherstripping so you don’t have to cut anything. Did you get blue Thule branded, ratchet straps or generic black ones?
Great vid! Pretty much helped me install the hullavator from start to finish. One thing to make note of are the size of the bolts when in installing but otherwise everything is on point!
Hi! Just curious as to what kind of bars you mounted the Hullavator to. I have a 2012 Subaru Outback. I ordered the Hullavator along with the bars that Thule recommended for my car. They are not compatible with the Hullavator. I'll be sending them back and may send the Hullavator back too. I'm waiting to hear back from Thule as to whether there's a compatible bar/blade available for my old Outback. Great video by the way!
You did a great job with the demo. I have mostly yakima products but a thule hullavtor...use on an older yakima system. Do you think the hullavator can fit to the aero bors from yakima?

For you mean the pin that secures the lift to the base? If so, make sure you lift the pin up so it's not hitting the bar, gently lift the hullavator then pulled the pin out. May take some practice. Grease pin if needed.
I will be removing the major part of the brackets when we are out in the boat and lock them in our car - by removing the pivot pin. We will leave the other brackets on the locked racks. However, I will buy metric S.S. Torx Tamper-Proof bolts to replace the ones that came with the racks.
Hey bud, remember me? Mark? I was asking you questions about the high 3rd brake light, and how to wire it? Well, I wanted to let you know, I purchased a 3rd light, it came today, and I got everything working? I’d appreciate it, if you have any knowledge, on that? Looks awesome! I’m not a quitter! I really like the look of this mod? Thanks, Mark Ochman
Almost there. Don't quit. The red wire needs to be connected to constant power. Even when the car is off. Most likely you connected the red wire to running lights.
