Excellent video! Thank you. Please pay no attention to the ignorant comments on here. You have helped thousands of people enjoy kayaking. That's the bottom line.
That was marvelously done! Good clear explanation. When I kayak with my girls we do something like this. But with more hands on multiple paddles. Once one is in, she holds her sister’s kayak still. Then they take off and leave me to fend for myself….kids today!
I have seen more video , but I think this technique seems to be easier and useful, I will try that when I will get my kayak , which I have ordered. Thank you to share with us.
Very well done. I'm an elementary school teacher and appreciate how clear the steps are. Thank you! Sounds like a place I would like to visit with our family.
for someone who has never done this method or even knew how to get in my kayak from shore in a calm and not akward way, this is a step by step and easy to understand tutorial. sometimes people who think they are experts at things don't remember what they didn't know when they started.
Great demonstration! It will be very useful advice for me, as I am overweight with joint problems, and was worried about how much trouble I will have getting in and out of a kayak, but am looking forward to getting one and peacefully floating around and enjoying being out in nature.
Look at that beautiful skywagon in the background. Thanks for the advise. I've been kayaking for years and nobody ever showed me this trick, and I certainly never thought of it.
Thank you so much as a 64 year old male I’ve been attracted to kayaking but thought I’d only end up facedown body floating and arms flailing all about in the water! My mere thoughts have been for years paddling for serenity and pleasure in my local county pounds we have here in our county. No one until my latest research have ever offered a wetless method of mount dismount of a Kayak before. Many thanks. PS: I will follow up on your lodge whereabouts when I’m finished here.
I'm new to kayaking and I try search for get in and out kayak but never found anything helpful until UA-cam recommend your video. Thanks for this video and thanks UA-cam recommend peace enjoy kayaking 😎
Good common sense information aimed at novice paddlers. Entering and exiting a floating kayak can be very difficult so supporting parts of the hull in shallow water can help a great deal. Keeping feet dry is an added benefit.
Cool vid. Fall is coming and I still want to use my yak. Need to stay dry. Never thought about putting the kayak sideways along the shore like that. Good tip
Thnx indeed. Wish had taken getting in and out more seriously. Would have saved the embarrassment of falling in the water and getting soaked to my drawers when our kayak group was about to set off for a long kayaking on Thames.
For a folks with wood paddles or who are a little heavier than the lady in this video, you need to have your kayak in deeper water so that it floats without hitting the bottom of the shore. If you sit on a paddle as demonstrated here, there is a very good chance you will break your paddle.
Explorer Mike If you use a paddle that breaks when you sit on it, then it's not fit for purpose and likely to break in use. I would put it drive face down though.
1st plane i ever flew (1968) was a Supercruiser!! Such a great plane. I stopped at the airport I flew out of 2 years ago and saw a cruiser.. I looked at the numbers N78459 .. THE SAME PLANE!!!
We go on small rivers. Sometimes there is current where we need to get out. I would like to have demonstration of how to exit when current is trying to grab the boat.
You will need to look to another UA-cam videographer to help you with that challenge. Our videos are to help our guests using watercraft on our lake at our B&B.
Hey...Made my day with that entering and leaving the boat using your paddle. MY only problem: I'm in a big lake with big waves. If I put the boat sideways to the incoming waves I get drenched! Well..back to the drawing board!
Nice video and a good way to get in and out of a kayak. One little tip... don't push or sit on the middle of the paddle (especially a carbon or fiberglass paddle).
I'm new to kayaking and my kayak has a skid (Challenger K1). Using your method, once in the kayak the skid would be pushed into the mud. Does this mean the only way to get into my kayak is push it further out and walk into the water to enter the kayak?
04:25 i would never weight down on the paddle like that, that is light material, thin walled, and not made for that; i would put a gloved(or not) hand on the side or on the ground instead.
I'll give this a try, for sure, but with me at 240 lbs, I think my paddle would be a bit too flimsy. My default technique has been to, first, never enter from a dock because you'll always go swimming guaranteed!. I always enter in water so shallow that when I step into the kayak, it bottoms out, like you're standing on the ground. Then get the other foot in and squat down and aim for the seat! Really not a good option with gravel or rock bottoms though.
I just read the past comments. I am sorry for the stupidity of people just trying to find something to criticize. You are giving a tutorial for your guests, if some can find some tips from it, great!! If not, move on!!!! You did a wonderful job explains your procedure. Where is Bear Lake Lodgings anyway?
No one has answered, and hopefully you have seen other videos on that by now... but if not... length of a kayak is not really the issue. Your body build and size/weight will help dictate the kayak size, but not really length. The larger the body size and weight, the larger the volume you will probably want (generality). There are generally three volume sizes, low/med/large. Chances are, unless you are very light, a medium or large volume kayak will work best. The rest (length) really depends on other factors, such as type of kayak and purpose, not your height.
Excellent video! Thank you. Please pay no attention to the ignorant comments on here. You have helped thousands of people enjoy kayaking. That's the bottom line.
The kayak can wait. I'm getting in the plane.
I have seen a few videos that show how to get in and out of a kayak. This is the best one: very clear and visual. Thank you so much.

Please do - book early so you can get the dates and the rooms you'd like in the B&B! Alaska is AWESOME!
Wow I’ve been kayaking on and off for 40 years and never have seen this technique before. It’s genius. I’m trying it out ASAP!
how'd it go?
@@ChristelVinot it works great! I actually have sit on top kayaks but I taught my kids to use this method.
@@TheFishingMommy thanks
3:21 "...and move your booty on into the boat." classic! the best onboarding/offboarding kayak description i've ever seen. thank you!

Greetings from Poland, thank you for an excellent presentation.

This advice was excellent and will always copy. Thanks 😊
Best video that has my attention and I've learned from!
Got to try that! Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I had doubts about this video. Pure genius.
We are getting ready to receive our first kayak. This is most excellent. Thank you very much.
This is genius! Thank you for the best method I have seen in person or online.
Look at that beautiful skywagon in the background.
Thanks for the advise.
I've been kayaking for years and nobody ever showed me this trick, and I certainly never thought of it.
What an excellent and informative video! Thank You!
Been there, done that🤣😂 the struggle is real! Husband and I enjoyed the laugh this morning😊
Excellent step by step instructions!
Ridiculous!
You made that look so simple, but I believe my husband can do this because he is strong. Great video.

Enjoyed your comment - get out there and PADDLE! Bear Lake Lodgings B&B, Alaska
I'm a beginner, and this technique works well. I'm well into the 200's lbs, and there's no problem with the paddle. Carbon Fiber is very strong.
Yesterday I fell in the river trying to get into a kayak my 2nd time .this is a really interesting video thx 👍
Thanks! Just did my first kayaking last weekend, now trying to learn as much as possible - I'm hooked!
I'm new to kayaking and I try search for get in and out kayak but never found anything helpful until UA-cam recommend your video. Thanks for this video and thanks UA-cam recommend peace enjoy kayaking 😎
Thank you. Great job. Is so easy when you know what you're doing
I enjoyed this video thanks for posting this instructional video

Thx from Finland👍 New tricks for me..
Great advice I learned a few things I never knew, thank you.
perfect, thanks and greetings from austria
Nice vid, any tips are great, just bought a Kayak tonight, after having a great time in Canada using one. Hoping to get a few shots before winter ❄️.
Damn. She makes it look easy!! lol! I always end up IN the water...even doing everything "right."
Wow ! This is very useful thank you !!! 👍

Beautiful entry and exit!!’ Will definitely be using this ,technique. Thank you!
Thanks for the comments and enjoy your paddling! Our lake is out of commission till spring.... currently frozen and perfect for xc skate skiing!
Never seen this before... brilliant!

Super..I just got my first kayak! Thanks. As a aviatior..love that float plane. Friend has red white Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser On Lake Wedowee, Al

And BTW... your lesson on entering the Kayak was GREAT!

Beautiful background, and very informative. You should put together more videos!
It's good
Thanks for posting... this will really help me get started!
Best ever video!!! 🏆
Getting in and out of the boat was done well, but her land-based demonstration she had the paddle upside down.
Thank you very much!
Good job demonstrating this.

From 3:12 to 3:24, that will give you the key body positioning/paddle positioning/body movements demonstration to enter the kayak.

Wanna go kayaking together?
thanks for this tip, I think it is gonna spare me many awkward situations hahaha
What if I don't have a dock with a brown locker past the plane?

It was a great tutorial thank you for showing it. And as for anyone who wants to criticize you for it. Well let's hope they get their feet wet
I second that.
Very cool. Thanks.
I love your plane..since the covid crisis I have downloaded a flight simulator and in the virtual world i have that plane
04:25 i would never weight down on the paddle like that, that is light material, thin walled, and not made for that; i would put a gloved(or not) hand on the side or on the ground instead.
Thanks! We just got kayaks, and was wondering how heck
we’re supposed to get in and out without getting wet or muddy. Know I know!!!
What kayak is that?
Excellent thank you you so much.
Thank you for this informative video. True the audio is low, but I had no trouble hearing.
This is a great video, so that is how you do it, thanks. Will try it the next time I am out. It always feel so unsteady.

I am 6' 2", 210 lbs (yikes!). I have a Pelican Bandit 100NXT sit-on-top 10 foot kayak that has four-position molded footrests. I fit in it very well.
Does this method work for kayaks to?
Wish I saw this yesterday
skip to 3:15
Awesome thank you
Works well if you have good upper body strength
Do you use the propeller to get in the plane?
Most impressive thing here is landing that plane on that pier
Nice coach
Thank you so much for this!!!
