I tried to hate this....I really did. It just brought soo much joy to my heart.

in the big picture the differences were small and I agree with a comment below, that you could use any of them interchangeably, but the 64 and 67 likely had the Telefunken tubes that came with them whereas the reissue has the new stock Russian tube. Tubes matter much in this design. Put a NOS Telefunken EF86/806S tube in the reissue and any differences will likely be even smaller. The Reissue is a winner!

Old U 67 sounds fuller. U67 reissue sounds a little crispy.

Fantastique. J'ai aimé 64. Vraiment un son d'époque.

Should've picked another guy to demo the mic.

I prefer the vintage ones, I think the new ones would sound better with a vintage tube in it like NOS telefunken, if you're gonna spend thousands on a mic of this calibre may as well get that and also an official neumann shockmount and pop filter, or rycote equivalent, otherwise very impressed with the sound of the re-issue, it's at least 95% of the sound.

I suspect the difference is mainly the capsule. You can hear the same types of differences between vintage U87s and the U87ai. Im not just talking about the slightly higher frequency peak of the U87ai. But yeah a vintage EF86s would improve the sound

To my ears, the 1964 is the brightest. The 1967 feels the darkest, and the reissue sits perfectly between them. It is similar to my findings at my studio, where I was able to test mine against vintage ones. One could use any of them interchangeably.

I tend to agree on the 1964 U67. To me it's much more wide and natural sounding. But, everyone will have there own ears and opinions :)

The one that I liked the most is the 1967.

The problem with this is that you did not state if any mic had/has tube changes

The vintage Neumanns always sound better and more 3D, as if the source is deeper in the sound stage. Put differently, the current production Neumann and clones sound one dimension compared to the vintage. That seems counter intuitive as I’d expect the capsule in the older units to be more rigid and worse at transients. The new U67 still sounds wonderful

The bass, lower mid response is also different and preferable on the vintage 67 which also happens with all the reissues and clones of Neumann

The new Reissue... They've made it to sound modern in my opinion... Which I don't like...

I like the old ones. They distort in a way that the new ones can't.

Sonni office Try one in your space with an original, and you’ll realize that your statement is false.

The reissue seems broken!!! The upper mids sound distorted. Compliments to Neumann.... :-) Vintage One is amazing even is old, used, or serviced.

Not great material to do a shootout. Guitar floppy and same notes as voice, drowns out nuances in mic differences. Any chance just do hear solo’d voice?

For me the newest U67 rules. Maybe it's time we stop calling it the reissue?
