FourEyedBird , you're comparing apples to oranges. 1) Any actual speedrunner will be the first to point out that the any% is an entirely different category from speedkilling tempered monsters with maxed out gear and optimal decorations. 2) Hunting Horn excels in the any% for two reasons. The first is that the optimal progression path for Hunting Horn is the Bone path, which also just so happens to be the easiest to make. This means that Hunting Horn is going to save a shitload of time on farming where that time might be spent farming the necessary weapon. The other reason is because the Self Improvement buff negates deflects. This is huge when you're doing progression since you don't have access to Mind's Eye or white sharpness. On top of the fact that it provides other buffs, the Hunting Horn run can skip entire swaths of farming for items that would otherwise be mandatory. This has no bearing on the fact that when you're talking about solo play, the Hunting Horn is literal miles behind every other weapon including IG. The fact that it excels in a niche permutation of the game that a small handful of people take part in doesn't really do anything for the average player.
