Just bought one of these to use with Kodi and other things, as this has android and more apps than the Amazon fire stick. Great review. From UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧 Improvements needed are 1. 16GB version 2. a micro SD card slot to expand the storage. 3. More Ram (2GB) would be preferable.
It's more versatile than many smart TV because it comes with an open-source OS, unlike many branded tv OS who does not have access to many apps. You clearly do not understand the advantages.

I have one and i wouldn't recommend it. It's okay for just streaming and you want a cheap device in the bedroom. I use it for Kodi streaming, IPTV and smartyoutube. CEC really sucks, the remote will disconnected when turning the stick off and you can only connect it when the device is turned on. So you need to unplug the power. Save your money and safe a bit longer for a Nvidia Shield (got one in the living room)
About plex: for miboxS someon said, if you disable new player in advanced settings, it may work fine. If I remember correcty, miboxS already got a fix for that. Maybe the stick has a bit older software currently.
Rayza1983 I love KODI on my firestick. I tried to get emulators on my fire stick but once you would load the game it would automatically go back to the previous screen 🤦🏼♂️

I doesn't support 4k...but 4k tv user only affected by this option...but in mi box we can't use 4k option for hd or full hd tv...thats also support depending on tv resolution
Does this connect over BT with soundbar? I want to hook it up to a projector which only has really bad monospeaker. I can do it through HDMI audio splitter but I'd much prefer to use a device which can send sound over BT to my soundbar. Anyone tried it?
I have two Xiaomi products. The electric scooter and their 'roomba'. Both are surprisingly great items. The roomba especially, costed me half the original and it's way better (there are comparisons on UA-cam proving that, I'm not fanboying). PRobably the only Chinese company that doesn't make me suspicious when it comes to quality.
I went from a galaxy note 8 to a xiaomi note 8 pro (funny name coincidence lol) and I haven't missed anything, besides the spen. Amazing performance, perfect refrigeration. It NEVER gets hot.
Have you considered trying to run BlissROM on Raspberry Pi 4? It's basically the ARM variant of BlissOS. It can be considered a background competitor to LineageOS, but nobody attempted to run it on a Pi yet. Any takers?

I myself am more curious with the various "alternate variants" of Android that have the potential for better optimisation on an low-end ARM-based device like the Pi. There's of course the new "Android Go Edition" for very low-end devices, but nobody thought of optimising one for the RPi yet. It would be interesting in the long run...

@@dsmania ok. In india surface transmissions were phased out many years ago. Only way is a wired cable or a satellite hD dish subscription ( both really cheap ) ,under 6 USD a month. So you are able to still receive transmission with just an antenna , without any encryption or are all channels encrypted needing a settop box
i bought one for my kids tv which is only 1080p anyway (dumb tv) mainly for disney+ and youtube. paid 25 USD for it and for the price its definitely worth it
@@adeebs8072 hi, it works fine if you have a good wifi connection. in our old apartment it lagged from time to time but there we had the TV quite far from the router. in the new apartment its much closer and i have not had any lag. Its not the fastest in the menus but it is by no means slow. for 25 usd i think its a good purchase

just save a little bit more and get 32" mi tv 4a. Same spec but with you know.....an lcd. it's just $120, with ethernet, 3 hdmi port, and 2 usb ports. Totally worth it for using it as a cheap general purpose monitor for your pc too.

I have the Xiaomi Mi Box TV S 4K (I settled on it because I wanted *real* Android TV, but was not willing to spend a ton for something like the Nvidia Shield), and I got it for only under $60. I really don't see the point of this Mi TV Stick; at $20 more, you can get the 4K box. Even on the 4K box there's a bit of lag when using Spotify TV, but other than that it's pretty okay. Why would one want to go any lower than "pretty okay"?
I'm quite happy with my Roku express, the device made specially for my old CRT Sony TV and I can watch pretty anything. I wish Showbox is there through hehe.

For streaming like netflix, youtube, twitch, etc. this stick is more than enough. Even with 1gb ram. I've had it for a month now, & it runs well.

The pi3 b+ has been my personal favorite sbc, using it as a learning device to mess around on, pi-hole helped with networking skills etc

you can fix plex by going to sitting then to advanced .... go to (enable new video player ) and make it ( off )...its will work fine

SoC is the Amlogic S805Y. This is similar to the S905 but video output is capped at 1080p.
