Hi John .. place is looking great. I think ive said before that in Australia we have our water tanks outside the house with pipes connected from roof guttering to the inlet on the tanks. We collect all of our water from shed and house roofs.

The barndo is going to be lit!. I would keep the rocks off the bark/base of the trees, just make sure there's airflow. Similar to when you mulch around fruit trees, you just don't want moisture/rot to buildup. Cheers. Coooold Beer! 🍺
In my family homestead back home before I moved to Florida. There was a sickle that my grandmother got stuck in the tree and it was there my whole life still there.

The barndo will be kool when it's done. You need a curved sidewalk from the portico to the back porch slab so you can walk around without getting in mud. I'm excited to see what you do for the solar outhouse. When I finally find property, that's my first building I'll need to build. I want to check out your ideas 💡.
Having a flag pole that close , when lightning strikes it, and it will, you will lose all your appliances. I know from experience. Maybe you will have better luck though.

Put them water tanks in the ground for 50 degrees winter and summer and take up ZERO space. Tiny bit of energy to make the h2o hot or cold.
