I love the way Jean Reno teaches us how to techno
Haha, so true!
haha not the first one saying that!
@@audioreakt Never realised you were French (or French speaking). I somehow always put you somewhere in Spain, maybe Basque. Don‘t know why. Forgive me for asking, but what region are you from? Greetings!
@@audioreakt Tényleg keményen tolod!
He looks like Rooler also!
The cinematic impact layered with the kick is such a great insight, thank you.
You're welcome ! Cheers
I really like your tutorials man, I've talked with a lot of artists and most of them were saying layering different kicks and percs but this layering idea with an impact is just genius. Keep it going!
yes that's why I wanted to show something different, layering kick with other kick and/or perc every intermediate/advanced producer know the trick. Thanks !
Keep it up, this video is so simplistic to follow along as you're only using the available stock plugins to build your song from scratch into a professional sounding banger!
thanks mate glad you liked it !
Dude this is one of the best organic sound design walktroughs
i feel like every importanty "sauce" got adressed just right
this is rly effect heavy production and i wish more ppl in the techno szene would look at this
much love from berlin
thanks for your kind words I really appreciate it ! Glad you liked the video, cheers from south of france !
This tutorial is mad! Watched it at least 10 times now 😅
Track in the making thanks to you!!!
haha cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it !
Dude I never thought to use an impact as a layer to get that sick rumble. Thank you!!!
door slaming, explosion, gun shot, everuything that slam or explode is fire (no pun intended)
This track goes so hard! Nice work and thanks for sharing
yopu're welcome !
This may be my favourity video of you to date!! Amazing stuff. Please do more of these.
Very 6ejou sounding
thanks mate happy to hear that, I know you've been following me for a long time so this really motivate me ! yes it was inspired by 6EJOU and Niki Estrefi
Yes this video is simplistic straight to the point, love it so much!
This was IMMENSELY helpful. I'm not on Ableton (FL Studio user over here) so I had to approximate most of the actual processing and go by ear at places, but I gotta say: 20 minutes of this got me to where I wanted my sound to go (darker, harsher, harder) and gave me a foundation upon which to keep building. I especially loved the impact + kick pairing - something that I never would've thought about in a million years that almost instantly transformed the whole foundation.
"Thank you" doesn't even begin to cover it, but it's a start, so: thank you!
Haha thanks mate, glad you could follow even though you don't have Ableton! Cheers
You’re a genius dude. Best techniques on YT for techno. Thanks man!
thanks I really appreciate !
never grooved so hard to a turtorial. Awsome work
thank you very much !
Thanks Paul, my whole neighbour and I are loving your tutorial. 💣

Best man!
Thanks a lot!
you are genius :-) thank you nicely inspired !
not quite but thanks anyway !
Bro, i learned so much! many thanks
happy to hear that , cheers !
@@audioreakt I see that with the industrial kick rack, my cpu goes from 8% to 50%, what can i do about that?
Could you please make more of these "From Scratch" type of videos? The newer videos have been helpful but I have learned so much from rewatching this video and having you explain each setting and how it works / exactly why youre adjusting it the way you are. If you made a series of these I would gladly pay for it. Thanks for the tutorials.
yes i really need to, they just take longer to make so that's always had to find time for it, but will def try to do more this year...
Merciiiiiii !!
Avec plaisir !
awesome :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome as always, thank you so much! :D
you're welcome ~!
Great tutorial, very humble of you to give this kind of knowledge away for free!
I would advise to put all the saturation for the kick in a parallel channel and process it there so the kick doesn't loose its dynamic :)
I would love to be that easy but most of the time I don't get the result wanted, it depend, sometime it work with parralel processing, sometime no... Kick are the most unpredictable sound when processing haha 😂😂
@@audioreakt so true, sometimes I spend ages building a chain, scrap the initial sample, do it all over again etc etc
they have to be wild beasts to hit the spot though, so that's ok with me 😄
This was awesome. Would wish more of these. Good work!
thanks, need more time 😅🤣
@@audioreakt I bet you do :'D
Very useful even under FL Studio, thanks !
Happy to hear that! Cheers!
In the voice of King Leonidis from 300 - It depends how NASTY you want your kick - ADD A OVERDRIVE!!! Absolutely LOVED this video!! Merci JULIEN!!
haha cheers, btw my name is Paul not julien
@@audioreakt LOL! Désolé Paul et merci! Much love from Portugal!
Thanks!
thanks a lot for your donations, I really appreciate !
best tuto thx
Thanks a lot?
Putrid. Vile. Straight up horrifying. I love it. 🖤
haha cheers mate !
One of my fav videos from you till now!! Amazing to see the smooth workflow and clear explantions why you do the processing and the video has a nice length to watch it all the way. I am wondering though, I often don't see you match the volume after distortion or compression to how it was before this. Is this something you don't mind?
thanks yeah I try to make it not too long, it's always a bit tricky to balance but I am happy with the flow of the video too on that one. No I usually don't, as most of the time it's for sound design purpose and not mixing/mastering. Usually when I add a new device and see the input is too high, yes in that case I will either reduce the output of the previous device or adjust the input of the device I just added. A lot of time your input level will make the device react differently, so I never change it first, I always see how it sounds first without adjusting and then if there is something off or a problem I will adjust the input. Gain compoensation can be great to see if what you've done really improve the sounds or if you are just fooled by loudness. I will do it more on the mixing stage or if my goal is too make the sound better/clearer, but if my goal is to tweak to death until I find a a tone I like then I don't care about gain staging, I pnly care about the the tone. Hope it make sense
@@audioreakt I understand, makes sense. Thing is not to be fooled by loudness indeed or of it's clipping or something. Great thing about techno you can get away with stuff like this because it's all about distortion and tweaking it till it sound nasty (your words haha) by the way really great that you added the arrangment part, that's what im struggling with to get an general arrangment that you can go further. Thanks again for this!
By the way, was always struggling to get that nice percusive rumble that gives a track so much energy. Now with this video finally it is so simple. I'm actually recreating the whole video right now in ableton and the results amaze me! again thank you so much, going to check out your website to see how i can support you because this is style is up my alley and was struggling a bit to get this sound
as I am working thru this process I did notice some phasing issues with the high frequency percussive channels. I actually had to remove the Haas effect because it didn't come thru when I set it to mono on the master for example.
wow, thank you. this is sick.
you're welcome, glad you liked it !
@@audioreakt if would be curious to use any m4l stuff i make let me know, i send you free code)
@@audioreakt question: did you invent this techique making techno just from kick or is there a tradition like that? is there a man who invented it?
I love the lead sound
happy to hear that !
Thank you very much for this tutorial, really helped me out! 🎛👌, greetings from Ibiza.
You're welcome, always happy to help !
Support for the Champ
haha cheers !
bro you're like fucking professional level lit af
haha cheers mate !
i fucking love this channel
haha cheers !
You always deliver better content with each release, if you could do a "rave loop" techno project or more peak time stuff that would be nice 😃
what do you called "rave loop" ? Raw/hypnotiv techno is next then it will be peak time ;)
@@audioreakt I Heard rave loops too. Its like schranz techno drums and highs or Hard groove beats.
Haha awesome
Cheers!
wow bro
thanks 🙏
What a interesting way to semi-jam, semi-arrange with the session view. Do you have a vid on it explaining it more? It looks really interesting.
coming next wednesday ;)
@@audioreakt awesome, thank you!
Great as always, one suggestion - could you bring your vocal up a bit? It's hard to set a comfortable listening volume to suit both talking and music.
yes i need to re adjust that !
great you are videos! you could make a video where you show how to mix this track, explain if there are frequency problems etc.. some complete things if you do gain staging, when you put an eq / compressor why its useful. because I see that in the insert tracks you clip in the red is that a problem? like that could help several beatmakers because on YT there aren't really any videos where they properly explain their process. it would be nice of your part and a good continuation!
the things with mixing is that each case is differnt so if I told you one thing for a track it can be wrong/completely different for the next track... I am also a big beleiver that 80% of your mix is done with sound selection and having each elelement with the right level, which both cannot be teach and come only with experience... I know it's not the answer you wanted but I am not gonna lie to you and telling you that " YoU NeEd tO kNOw That SeCrEt MixIng TipS aLl ThE Pro Use ThaT WiLl ChAnGe Your Life"... the best thing you can do is download the template, take a screen shot of the template level of each track, then reset all the level to 0 and try to mix and see where you did wrong, basically kind of reverse mixing...
Do you think it was too high, how high?
I need this on Spotify
it's not, it supposed to be an educational tutorial. but a guy kind of remiox it here : soundcloud.com/paralyzednotfound
someone give him an Oscar for that video !! 100%
haha cheers !
Insane kick 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 hey Paul i have a question btw - I’ve seen some other tutorials in which people say kicks should be as short as possible so that the woofers in the club can move properly. What’s your take on that? Does that apply to sub heavy style like this? Would it work if there was a constant kick/rumble at around 50 hz in the low end? Should there be some pause and how long?
it's true but it's also depend what are the effect or groove you want...for me there is no one way or right or wrong way..if you look at tech house genre, you wiill have this short kick and almost plucky bass somtime and for sure it let the sub works well as it can move properly, but sometime you want something more linear or continuous like rumbles...the best things to do is to reference to track you like or track that have sound that you want to acheive similar effect, this way you can see how you have to do...but it's true that if you have a very long kick tail + bassline it might sound like your subwoofer doesn't breath, but at some point it might be what you want. Another exemple would be with 808 kick opposed to 909 kick, one might tell you 909 are better because they got more punch compare to 808 that are more boomy kick. But somelse can tell you they preffere 808 kick because it got that nice deepness and roundess that it'a hard to get with an 909 kick which is too punchy/dry...
Really enjoyed this tutorial! But I watched it at half speed lol
haha sorry I had to make it not too long or people will never click on a 2h long video haha
Ok niki isfreti!
yes and 6EJOU was my two ins
this dude goes trough the steps so quick tf
Well people dont want to spend 1h to watch a video so you have to find a faster pace haha
TKS FROM BRAZIL!
you're welcome !
It sounds like niki istrefi good stuff
It is totally very inspired from (especially the melody
Awesome tutorial ! By the way, how did you add the sidechain in a single knob ? i know how to do it with the compresor but in a single knob looks nice
thanks, here : ua-cam.com/video/coKuqMFciVg/v-deo.html
Please do a in depth tutorial of hard techno rave drum loops/ schranz rave loops.
do you have reference track ?
Polish destiny - jan fleck remix
The lead melody is very similar to Hallucinogen - Gamma Goblins :)
haha yes indeed, I took it from a track from Nikki Estrefi - worldspawn
Love it!! 11:18 - what video is that sidechain rack from? Definitely want to use it
link is in the description
Hello, awesome guide, do you have limiter on master?
excellent video ! i'm a bit confused about what you did at 03:08 ? how have you done it to fuse the kick and the ambiant sound ? when i try to do the same it is absolutely not the same thing ahah
I create a new midi track, import the impact sample, group into a drum rack, then copy the midi clip from the kick to the new midi track by clicking and holding the midi clip from the kick track into the new midi track
Would it be okay if I use your audio effect rack on a return channel? It seems to crush the punch and volume when on my kick group
Yes you can use them how ever you want
I noticed you turned the dynamics off at 0% while using the overdrive plugin for almost every element you were processing except percussion. Is this not advisable to do, if so what is the reason? Thanks for the videos. Been following you for a while now. I love how you literally explain everything you do for whatever reason! Thank you very much for sharing!
to be honest there is no reason I usually always try how the parameter affet the sound decide accordingly, there is no rule, it's different for each sound...you're welcome !
why is it not advisable? what can happen?
Hey,man! Thx for video! But what is the tool for sidechain you used? And what is the trigger for sidechain,is it main kick itself or kind of ghost note?
link in the description, it's another youtube channel that create a rack with utility and shaper to create a sidechain tool
where can i get that Kick_punch_v2? also can you slow down a bit and dont jumpcut some controls you are doing, it makes it very hard to follow. (mabe use an exetnsion that shows what buttons you are pressing?
link is in the description (ua-cam.com/video/guzmn4nhfg8/v-deo.html), yes I need to find a mouse follower
YO bro u so good like me in HARD TECHNO 😜
haha cheers !
🤘🤘
yess, where can i find the aynil indus kick rack for ableton 11 version?
all rack I used in the video are link in the description
@Audioreakt at around 5:50, I don't understand how your individual channels are super loud playing at 0db but your master isn't in the red? I'm doing everything the same as you but my master channel peaks at 8.49db (kick peaks at -0.3db, impact at 8db!)
So I downloaded the project template, some stuff is missing for me but I saw you have a limiter on your master channel which explains it. Do you use it for ear safety and always put one then remove it at the end before mastering?
yeah it's mainly for ear safety, once the track is finish it can happen the limiter is squashing everything (my mix basically), so I will redo the mix, I will first select all track, then bring the kick to -6 or -9 until the limiter on the master don't work anymore...because all track are selected, it will bring down all the other track too. Most of the time its fuck up my mix but not too much, usually it works for me, I just need to readjust the volume of few track...I don't recommend to do this method to be honest but that's how I do.... I always forgot to bring the kick a -6 when starting a track therefore at the end of the track I usually need to redo my mix...but it's not a problem for me...
Sounds good!! Was Niki Istrefi the inspiration for this?
Yes a bit of that and a bit of 6EJOU
Red armor 💣
@@Flamieee1 I would say it's more like Chambers
Really nice tutorial! How do you get the little sidechain tho?
Link in the description (oneno sidechain)
How do you copy the midi at 3:00-3:09? Because when I copy and paste (Command c and Command v) only the first midi will play, without the effect of the Distorted Tail (99s)
hold control, drag and drop
Ich wünsche einen schönen Tag. Ich habe schon überall gesucht, aber hat es einen Grund das ich das Aynil_Kich_Punch V2 nicht finde? Wo finde ich das? 😁
Wow bro !! First time watching your videos. Sick track u have done🚬🗿. Also, what’s track name ? ❤ listing this from Chile 🇨🇱
thanks, its a template/track for educational purpose, but the track has been inspired by nikki estrefi worldspawn
I would love to see a hard techno inspired by artist: raxeller😍
noted, maybe for teh next induatrial techno livestream ? will see
@@audioreakt would love to!
This was the first ever tutorial i followed using ableton, im a compleet rookie, so when we got to the last part it didnt really work form me, when trying to set it all up, the kick cant go together with the rest. Am i doing something wrong here? The kick doenst have the colored thing with the playbutton. I hope someone can help me as i really want to finish this tutorial.
By the way, amazing tutorial, it was really helpful!
hello glad you liked the tutorial. you can get the project file for free, this way you can compare with that you done and might find out where is the problem
Hi there, I'm completely new to this and it's my first tutorial trying to make something. But I'm stuck at 3:04. I created a new midi track and dragged in distorted tail but after that non of the functions you are showing are no available to me. What am I doing wrong? I don't have an option to group with drum rack.
first I create a new midi track, then I drag and drop the sample for my library straight into the midi track, this is going to create a Simpler device with your sample inside, then I right click on the Simpler device and group into a drum rack
Great tutorial! I just wish you skipped less because it's sometimes hard to follow. Like at 1:33 I have no idea where you got those tune/attack/delay/level controls from? Is it a plugin? I clicked on every button on the drum rack and can't find them
I figured it out, it's only available on Live 11
it's ableton 909 core kit, its a default drum rack coming with live. Indeed the one with macro is with live11 but you should have a 909 core kit drum rack with live 10 thats sound similar
how can i get the sidechain which u are using in the video? is this an seperate plug in which is free to use?
ua-cam.com/video/coKuqMFciVg/v-deo.html
good evening, may I know how do you go from all those clips to the session view part?
I will answer what I answer to someone else : The way I like to do it it's I will do exactly like in the video but with the REC on. I will play around with the scene and maybe automation to have a rough arrangement recorded in the arrangement view, then I will edit and polish the recorded arrangement in the arrangement view. You can also select all you clip hold control and drag and drop in the arrangement view, but this a bit more tricky as you have to make sure all clip per scene have the same length otherwise you will get something weird into the arrangement view. But could make a video actually maybe
I did almost the same stuff that he did in kick top loop part since i'm stil learning and experimenting but when i add the audio track with audio from KICK group somehow it makes an echo unlike in his track which sounds really broken. But it works when i add only the Main kick from the KICK group without the audio with the delay effect. Would you guys have an idea about the problem i'm having?
I don't know to be honest, but you can grab the project for free and compare both to see what you have been missing.
The 4 band on the white noise vocoder, is 4 only to save cpu?
no its no particular reason...probably what sounded the best to me
I’m pretty new to ableton … never created anything to be honest, I just feel limited by the lite version regarding the tutorials… would this project work for me, I would love to get into industrial techno
Indeed the lite version is pretty limited, you can still download this project it's free and see if it's working....but eventually if you really want to use live to it's full potential and really not be limited you will need to upgrade
Can you show how to move the music from session into arrangement view?

Hi, I have ableton 11 but the file isn't working it says it was made out of an earlieer version of ableton. I've tried both files.
That's weird, usually it's the other way around, you cannot open because you have an older version of live 11. You need live 11.3 or 11.2 I don't remember, which versio do you have?
Sounds like Niki Istrefi - Worldspawn
yes was very inspired by that track, especially the melody
