Slight rules mishap at 23:16. Force of will pitch card is put into the graveyard instead of exile and while it did not lead to a win, it helped later on with an additional card in the graveyard for treasure cruise and uro. Still a very nice hour of blue magic. :)
46:30 ish, you can stifle Search for Tomorrow profitably. Suspend has a whole bunch of triggers. "At the beginning of your upkeep remove a time counter" - bad stifle target "When the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost" - Stifle this ability and it gets stuck in exile with no time counters
Man seeing two blue decks go against each other is really interesting. Every moment felt like there was plenty of options for both players and was super cool to watch
Hearing that Ledger Shredder was 3 $ on launch, meanwhile in Europe,. it was like 1€ tells me a lot about all the Nonexistence of Cardmarket and independent Sellers on the other side of the pond.
Someone else might have beaten me to it, but I had a half-hour to kill so I did a statistical analysis of all the north100 showdown matches thus far. I created a table in excel logging the outcome of each match (as a best of 3, although I know some went over), as well as who went first. As noticed by the competitors, Wheeler wins an overwhelming 67% of die rolls compared to Serge's 39% and Nelson's 17%. The win statistics weren't that interesting. Fascinating, however, is that in the 6 matches Nelson has played he has only won one die roll, and it was in his only match against Serge, meaning that Nelson has 0% of die rolls against Wheeler. Additionally, early in the life of North 100 Showdown Wheeler went on a tear where he won every die roll for 8 matches straight. The third of those matches also started an 9-match winning streak of his.
I will say, it is a funny coincidence to upload a video with "Gotcha" in the title while people are feverishly refreshing your channel looking for those juicy reveals Not that I've been doing that, just something funny I noticed in my YT notifs
“Should there be a busted Blue-Red Ice-Fang Coatl?” Good news Nelson, there is a Blue-Red version in Murders at Karlov Manor. It investigates when it ETBs instead of a pure draw, and instead of deathtouch it gets a +1/+1 counter whenever you sacrifice an artifact
If you want sixty card Canlander I heartily recommend giving Oathbreaker a try. You don't have moxen and power nine, but it genuinely plays a lot closer to Legacy or Canlander than Commander, especially when played 1v1.
There was like 3 days in between when I watched the first 80% of the video and the last 20%, and I have to say the biggest "GOTCHA" was the last-second SWEBAGABRR.
would it be possible to get Ben a microphone for these, I mostly watch this on my second monitor while I work but have to stop and rewind when i hear him talk to read the captions :)
I have to roll my sleeves like 6 inches above my wrists to be comfortable moving cards, so I'm just shuddering watching Nelson do it with sleeves on his palms
The joy on my face when I see a brand new, hour-long episode of North 100 Showdown - a Canadian Highlander Throwdown.
I'd like to thank them for having us, it's always great to be here

Definitely mattered because later that game Wheeler escaped Uro with exactly the right amount of cards
Yeah, when casting force I make sure to always turn the card I'm pitching sideways so that it's clear it should be exiled and not discarded.
I am disappointed Wheeler isn't playing Sultai Swebagegrr.
my favourite deck archetype
Await a new deck in the future
46:30 ish, you can stifle Search for Tomorrow profitably.

Was coming here to say that lol
I love the resolution of uro going "draw card, sac uro, play land"
Can you guys make a montage of the camera change when you guys turn to face each other to play? Absolute staple of the show.
How soon can we expect SWEBAGABRR merch?
Im always thilled when I know the Canadian Shufflelander achievement is about to pop up. lol what a great format
This was some of the bluest magic we’ve seen on the show. Very good games.
Man seeing two blue decks go against each other is really interesting. Every moment felt like there was plenty of options for both players and was super cool to watch
Yay the achievement pop-up & sound are back :)
The editing on today’s episode is fantastic! Kudos to the editors!
Mr. Wheeler sir you haven’t streamed in 5 days and I’m beginning to suffer from early stages of Ratthew withdrawal.
Oh uh meow?
The comedic timing on some of these “sweaty radiators” are killing me
Love this series, love Nelson's vibe.
Thanks for having us, it's great to comment here.
Lets goo it's North One Hundred Showdown - A Canadian Highlander Throwdown
Thank you for having me it’s great to be here

I love the way youre presenting the pointed cards in the deck chat. Wonder if there is a clean way to display the point value of the card too
Love this series, already counting down to the next one
I'll obviously never be able to play this format, with reserve list cards and all, but it is fun to watch it
Happy Holidays fellas
This was a great set. Thanks as always for the video.
I love the tomfoolery throughout, especially in the intro
Showing the full-art Ponder in the card preview window was a great editing joke. XD
Sick sultai vamps list from Wheeler
I thought all the Gotcha cards were silver border?🤔
[*rimshot*]
i think "a little bit" is the funniest amount of fat albert to have watched
Sultai Gacha is notably a much different archetype.
I believe that deck also goes by Blue Archive
I will say, it is a funny coincidence to upload a video with "Gotcha" in the title while people are feverishly refreshing your channel looking for those juicy reveals
Not that I've been doing that, just something funny I noticed in my YT notifs
And now Ben will have everyone sending their copies of Salivating Gremlin to the Moonbase
Nelly really out here playing "Magic the Shuffling".
The draw and deathtouch are what make a Coatl/Baleful Strix, the whole point is that it can block anything profitably and replace itself immediately
I do love these matches where you don't know who will win
This show accounts for exactly 40.1% of my overall enjoyment of Magic: The Gathering, a Deckmaster game as designed by Richard Garfield, P.H.D.

The return of ScapeTurns!

5:07 "shuffling simultanTeously" :P
Just in time for dinner, how lovely :D
on the note of the 60 card maybe even with 4 ofs. i definitely would watch legacy, modern, kitchen table, paper standard, or even auslander content.
54:30 I don't think Wheeler paid life for Watery Grave entering untapped. Didn't matter in the end though.
You think I come here for canlander. Wrong, I come to hear them sing songs from the early 2000s
Merry holidays
You know sometimes it is hard to pin down when a match may have been filmed. This time. I have a hunch.
beard clock holds many secrets
This was a good match.
I would love this to be weekly
Great games!
There was like 3 days in between when I watched the first 80% of the video and the last 20%, and I have to say the biggest "GOTCHA" was the last-second SWEBAGABRR.
Next we need to see a Gacha deck with all the dice and coin flip mechanics. Embrace the RNG!
48:07 Highlander: there *can* only be one. But there can also be two, three, or four.
would it be possible to get Ben a microphone for these, I mostly watch this on my second monitor while I work but have to stop and rewind when i hear him talk to read the captions :)
Lets go Nelson!!
in the immortal words of Ben "ben wheeler" wheeler - Swebagegrr
In game 2 Serge isnt here to ask about Ben's favorite ponder art
Never heard of this format. Maybe you could explain what it's all about for those of us who don't know?
"I change my sleeves every three months", jesus christ, Wheeler.
Is Canadian Highlander the only format where Serum Visions is still played?
Commander as well, but yeah you only see it when you're going down to like the 6th or 7th blue cantrip. Just better things to do in blue for one mana.
ooh bunch of close games this time
Let's get Swebagegrr
@22:30 Commander players knew it was a thing from the beginning. Everyone casts so many spells it's triggering constantly.
20:40 the offer still stands for help to pronounce german cards
Is Canadian Highlander a proxy-friendly format?
yeah its pretty ari laxed
Now to wait another 2 weeks :(
nelson gets alot of mileage out of that love shirt
North 100 has slowly morphed into some kind of The Exile Zone version of itself
1998 called and they want their Taplands back.
I'll be slightly disappointed when that doesn't end up in the highlights.
Where did I go wrong?
I lost the game
I didn't have the cards to win
And I could have drawn that extra card
Had I known how to pay some life
'Govna' means it is us, the british, who are allowed to be offended at this accent
gg wp
Swebagegrr
I don't know why Nelson's thumb sleeve things bother me so much 😖
I have to roll my sleeves like 6 inches above my wrists to be comfortable moving cards, so I'm just shuddering watching Nelson do it with sleeves on his palms
You sound like my high school principal from 20 years ago 🤣🤣🤣

Swebagabrr
I thought this was going to be silver-bordered Gotcha cards
Wheelers second job is proffessional craps player.
SWEBAGABRR
I have always thought that 100 cards was just kinda out of habit, like maybe the format would be better as 80 card highlander or something
