  • We spent 24 hours in Waikiki, a world-famous destination on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Suzi grew up here and was delighted for a chance to stay at the Alohilani Resort, one of the best Waikiki hotels on the beach (she even has a couple of stories about this hotel!). Check out our travel vlog to learn more about what we did during our stay.

    Welcome back to the islands! So what do you think of Hawaii now since you're living on the Mainland? All the changes happening here?

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  5 років тому

      Thank you!! I definitely miss Hawaii and feel like I took it for granted as a kid. Waikiki feels the same in some ways, yet so many changes -- all for the better though. It's good to see everything modernizing in it's own way. Feels like a new place to discover, even if you grew up here ❤

    Staying at that hotel is a crowded area but it also is a beautiful hotel 😊

      We typically aren't into crowded areas, but in this case, it was energizing to be around so many relaxed and happy people. Our previous week on the Big Island was the polar opposite experience, so that provided a nicely balanced overall vacation.

      Not that deep -- Suzi is 5 foot 2 and could stand up in it just fine.

      Fair enough, but those are very far places. We like Hawaii for a lot of reasons, but the main one is that it's only a several hour plane ride away for us.

    Nice vid and lots of great advice!
    We prefer Waikiki to Ko-olina. It's just got a better vibe and there's so much around it. It's also a shorter trip to most of the places you're going..

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  4 роки тому

      Waikiki is classic and has so much to do there. Ko Olina is nice if you prefer a slower pace or just want a different experience than what you get in Waikiki. We love both and would love to be in either place right now 😀

      Amazon, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Costco, and the other plethora of tech companies HQ'ed in Seattle. Hawaii is a great place to live, but not a great place to make money.

    I'm starting a digital marketing agency and I'm buying a camera setup to take video on top of having other videographers helping make content for clients. id love to know what you did to cover travel costs early on or if you have any tips. i lived in Hawaii for a year and a half and plan to go back in a few moths to prospect for business

    • @Gemini_Connect
      @Gemini_Connect  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Tryston! Great question. When traveling to Hawaii, we have the advantage of being able to stay with family, so that significantly cuts back on costs for us. But we do a lot of travel outside of Hawaii, so we just front the costs ourselves. When building a new business, our philosophy is to approach businesses and new industries as an honest, paying customer. We use that trip to take high-quality media and then send it to prospective clients as work samples to open the door to possibly working together on a paid project. This feels more genuine than asking for freebies up front, at least in our opinion. Hope this helps!

      @@Gemini_Connect that's awesome. I love your channel and am now following you guys. Thanks for responding and putting out good content. I'm teaming up with some people that are going to help me scale to 6 figures, I spoke with them today and it was the best call I've ever made. I'm planning a trip back to hawaii soon. I made the mistake of going there with nothing when I was 17. Now I'm going back as a professional to do business. SEO, social and video storytelling/emotional storyselling are my 3 pillars. Do you have tips for networking while I'm there? Since I'm from Michigan people know I'm not from there. its best for me to start in Honolulu + its the only island I lived on/ visited during my year and a half there. Any tips would be awesome. I know people from there already so I'm starting there

      @@trystonantol8685 Very cool -- I wish you the very best on your endeavor! My main advice is to have a portfolio of solid work showing off what you can do, business cards, a willingness to reach out to people, and perseverance to get through the amount of "no's" you might hear. When I was starting my photo business, I would reach out to maybe 10 prospective clients and only hear back from 1, but that was all I needed to get started. So reach out to as many as possible and run with the people who you really connect with. Good luck!!
