This reminds me of when I was installing a phone line for a customer, as a BT faultsman jointer for a Asian family I was shown to the front room were I needed to fit the nte5a near the window when I turned round after this it looked like the whole family had silently entered the room and been watching every move I’d made! Crazy, I was glad to get out!😉
As the majority of my work is install/boiler replacement, I get this all the time. Sometimes it's the customers boxing it in using some mad techniques, other times it's big names (*cough* British Gas *cough*) deciding that no future engineer should be able to get access to anything. My favourite one was someone putting tiles ON the boiler itself.
@aaronbrown3896 whilst BG may not do silly boxing in, they certainly install them with "this is never coming out" in mind. Or at least the old ones were.
I've never seen this... But many times I have been to jobs where switches and sockets are tiled around and grouted in. My step brother used to do this until I pointed out you should take them off and buy longer screws.
Good content apart from where you speeded the film up on the Compact, you know your stuff and its good to pick up tips from you, emptying the blocked condense trap into the sink, might block the sink .
What Wera tool do you use to isolate flow and return on valiant boilers always find that flatheads chew up the brass slot and makes it really difficult to isolate the boiler , great vid as always 👍
A nice mixed bag with some good content as well, it may be worth mentioning about testing the concentration of the inhibitor and the system water on your services ? I carry some to top up systems after work , There are various kits and apps available all the best buddy .
In the last house, obviously F&E tank supply being shut off is suboptimal but is it reasonable to expect it to be empty due to evaporation? I was wondering if there is a leak on that system.
I asked the customer if he ever had to turn it off and he said no. I was the last person there a couple of years ago to change a leaking rad valve but I just bunged the F&E tank so it must have been shut off before even then. It's either evaporated or there's a tiny leak somewhere on the system 🤔
@@cputilitysolutions I guess maybe in time you will find out. I have a property with a small leak and I haven't yet found it although I am not a plumber. However mine is a sealed system so water leak is limited. Thank you for the videos, they are really good quality and you must be putting a lot of your spare time into creating them.
Honest question where you get your jobs from the large chunk to keep you busy throughout the weeks and months ? Any tips and advice would be appreciated
Do you charge your hourley rate to go to the merchants? Always really curious about pricing I work for a company full time but always a bit unsure what to charge on private jobs. I do mostley breakdown work. Ive started at 70 for first hour/call out then 50 an hour. In south west
I charge £80+vat for the initial diagnosis for the first hour and within that time I'll usually have an idea of what the problem is and then give the customer a fixed price for the repair overall taking into account the initial cost. I might do a UA-cam video on my pricing if it'll help people out
@@cputilitysolutions Yeah that would be really handy. I expect a few people new to charging customers would find it interesting. Appreciate the reply, especially this time on Christmas eve you nutter. I'm sitting here watching one of your vids with the Mrs next to me moaning it's not exactly Christmasy Have a good one mate.

A few years ago I went out to do the first service on a green star junior and the installer put the side so close to the wall in a kitchen that the tiler tiled right up to the font cover and grouted it in😂😂
Mate you’re knowledge with Boilers & Heating systems is absolutely brilliant, That Wera Tbar is a Brilliant tool for boiler repairs 😂 Brilliant content as always 👍👍🤜
You prob would hav been better getting the upgraded pump for and warn yer customer those rubber hoses on flow return to h/exc can choke or leak at any time

Great video. The look of confusion from your customers as you speak to the camera is priceless

Thanks mate. It's just a Wera T bar bit holder and I use a 4mm hex bit in there. A 4mm Allen key will do the same job

Nice content & like your honesty, just wondered why supply to header tank was turned off, poss because was overflowing out the warning pipe??
Thanks mate, I actually have no idea about why it was turned off 😂

wow an original pump, that's a known issue, why did you change it for a wilco part than vailant rev 3 for this series
Due to cost of part - £100 for the Wilo pump head with the lead

If the pump was leaking was it not the rubber seal that was damaged also what camera do you use the one clipped to your clothes
Yes and water had gotten inside causing it to trip. The camera I use is insta360 go2
Pumps probably knackered through cavitation…. They’re pretty resilient. Depends on how long it’s been running like that

What's cavitation??
