The flint deposits are mined at a later stage during the game during a different age like Bronze Age , you need to find loose flint stone deposits I think there is one just further back from your village. All so fishing is really good way to get points, should think about getting a pawn to pick berries and nuts during the spring and summer months.
This game has beautifully done and highly customizable interface, everything is organized, labeled and stick to screen edges. Take notes Banished and other similar town builder devs.
Certain tasks only get performed if the people hit the idle state, so you NEED some idling. They actually idle for a second before they decide to do clean up task, like moving hay to haystack and cleaning up other items on ground.
Due to my impaired vision (waiting for eye surgery) i can't play this game yet. But can watch the playthrough a bit in my bed. This one is the most informative so far. Learning a lot with you, Rhadamant. Thank you. 1 yr late. Nvm, thanks anyway.
Thanks for this series mate. Especially the personalized HUD in the top corners are very helpful. Still got a ton of questions, but maybe you show those things in the upcoming episodes. For instance: Do wild animals procreate/spawn again, or are they permanently gone when you wipe out a herd of a certain type of animal?
I think you need tools to mine the flint in the hill. Also, the reason your not making flint items is you already have wood ones of the same type. I think if you have 6 spears (a combination of wood or flint) and auto flint spear production and a limt of 100 percent for spears it won't make any new flint items until you get rid of the wooden ones.
I know I'm late the the series... but imo I strongly advocate that first tech should be bone tools... this is because you are able to hunt so much easier and more by rushing bone spears immediately, that you can gain 5 points for food dryer effortlessly vs going for food dryer first makes your next 5 points take much longer to accumulate (as the wooden spears break after 2-3 dangerous animal kills) having to continuously build wooden spears tends to drain sticks that can be better utilized for your early structures ... In my experience by going bone tool route, I'm able to start producing the food dryer right after I've produced the skin dryers, thus not really feeling any delay caused on the production side
A little late huh? Just by... uhh ... 4 years. I remember next to nothing about this game have no plans to play again, but I appreciate your feedback nonetheless.
I have had villagers survive infections, but they were idle at the time. I'm pretty sure your villager died from infection because your workload was through the roof due to your early building queue.
Ahh bro I can't keep up with all the content your a mad man! Thanks for all the work you put out bro I'll get to this one eventually but I'll watch the first episode lol
Mines need a pickax. You can get more points from the buildings and things. Say for the crafter. It goes in increment. 5 10 100 1000 Etc. All the points from doing things is this way. If you select everyone and then tell them to hunt an animal. Those that can will. If they don't have a spear they won't. Not advisable later as some will go to get the tool from storage if available or there are plenty of other things to be done. The bear you hunted. Did not get harvested. You selected it then selected the ground. It canceled the job task. Best to let them just auto select the job. Except in some instances when it's really far from camp and I am controlling 4-5 people on a large hunt. I will force them to harvest and start carrying back as I don't want someone coming all the way from camp to harvest 10+ animals.
This seems pretty good. The having to build copies of things just for research points looks like a bit of suboptimal design, but other than that I like it. And this is a nice change of pace from RimWorld, but also similar enough to be easy to follow.
Very helpful! There is no manual and the tutorial that comes with the game is less than adequate. Rhadamant's tutorial clearly illustrates how to control the game and suggests paths new players can take.
The build start is not really good. The first priority imo should be gather sticks and hunt to make most needed materials to make structures. What is first need to build is skin dryer when the first hunt is done then followed by food dryer when tech is available. Then followed by the first house. The first tool I craft is one wood spear so you can have 5 people capable of hunting. Afterwards you can manage your priorities.
Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent upload and you are doing a great job explaining things. However, I feel that since Banished RTS games lost their charm. Just setting the UI (which is just a bunch of symbols as are the menus) takes as much time as playing an Age of Empires level. Then we are pressing "8" and other stuff and we got charts and inventories....where is the fun? I don't feel like I'm playing a game leading cavemen...I feel like I'm a desk clerk doing a boring job of managing a colony. The UI and the menu system seem completely detached from the era I'm trying to navigate through. Maybe I'm just too old for this.
dont know why but when I am close the the bronze age everyone stops getting food and everyone starves no matter what I do. I reduce work load and reduce everything I dont need and even sacrifice things I do need. It's like come on feed yourselves!
Not trying to be the weird, but are you pronouncing hearth sarcastically? I've never heard it pronounced that way, it's har-th, as in hearth and home. I was wondering what a herth was, but when I rewound the video, well, I was a little confused. This looks like a cool game, thanks for introducing me to it!!
Technically, Hearth is supposed to be pronounced as *Harth* and not *Hurth.* I have always pronounced it to rhyme with Earth as in fact, many people do; I assume because it contains the word the word _Earth_ but with an H on the front. You could, however equally argue that it also looks like _Heart_ with an H on the end or like _Hear_ with a TH on the end, and neither arguments would be wrong on that account. In the end, it does appear that the reason the majority of people pronounce it as Harth is that this is in keeping with the word's historical pronunciation in Old English when it was spelt Heorth. Looks like I've been wrong all this time, and will now change the way I say it. And while I'm at it, also the way I say Hearthstone, Derby, Clerk. The more you know.
Yes, I've always heard it pronounced harth, but I know many places have different ways to say and pronounce things, sometimes it's just a regional thing, so I wasn't sure if it was different. Also, I thought Rad might have just been being funny, I was just listening along while I did something else, and thought I might have missed him making a joke about pronouncing it that way.
Further options for micromanagers: Check storage spaces occasionally and whenever you spot an obsolete tool, click it to pop it outside the building & tag for recycling. (Trading them is better, but the Trading screen won't always let me sell off my old shit at the rate I'd prefer.) I've also been known to send traditionalists to their tent, in order to allow a more enlightened, forward-thinking individual to complete the task in their stead. ;)
Stop making wooden tools in the crafter and set bone tools to auto build. Over time the wooden tools will break and they will make bone tools to the limit you set.
