My dad passed away the same week my twin boys turned 3 years old and I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter. It was hard having a baby with two three year olds but I promise you will be just fine. You got this!

So maybe it would be better if Leo wasn't in the same room since he seems so intelligent and aware of his surroundings :)

Leo is so smart and in tune with his surroundings that I feel that he would be very traumatized to see his sweet mama, who is usually his comfort and peace, in so much pain and she is unavailable for reassurance. If he was much older and could understand that it is a normal part of life then I think he may be able to handle it.
As far as the decision to bring Leo to the birthing suite or not, I would trust your intuition. I’ve heard of children who were okay with it (more mature older and calm children who could understand what was going on) and others who cried and were traumatized (usually younger children who are still attached to their mother and don’t have the capacity to process what is happening). Only you know what will be best for Leo! You can always leave him with a trusted adult and hav him come after the birth.
Congratulations to you and the family. My mom came over to the UK 4 weeks before my 2nd delivery, huge help. Like you, my parents live in other country so my older son hardly knew his grandparents then. That 4 weeks was a good transition. Also, I will suggest not to let Leo know mommy had very painful time giving birth to younger sibling at this age. I mean, as a parent, the older one is nearly 10 years old, I never get used to seeing my children suffer when they're ill, even though I know they will be jumping again the next day. It's hard. Just my opinion, take care!
I’m a bit late to this, but congratulations! I also have two kids. Both of mine are what I like to call Velcro babies, but the oldest one was like that a bit more intensely like that for longer. The second started being a little more independent sooner. My oldest is cautious about everything whereas my second throws caution to the wind. It is funny how they can be so alike in some ways but so different in others. Oldest loves vegetables, the second only likes fruit. 🤷♀️ They get along great though. One is 8 and one is almost 3.
I've heard of people giving gifts to their firstborn from the new baby and having the firstborn pick out a gift for the baby so the older child feels included and has less stress about the new baby. (I don't have kids so I have no clue how it actually works.)

Wow, it never even occurred to me that some people might think this way! It might be partially a Korean culture thing where we believe in special dreams called 'taemong' which is about your unborn child, and partially my beliefs as a Christian in that God speaks to us through dreams :) My dreams about Leo before he was born are so accurate to who he is now and helped me also to bond with and pray for him as it deepened my understanding of who he is as his mother during and after pregnancy. (It can also contribute to the naming process of your children.) Hope this helps explain to those who may find the idea of mothers having dreams about their children as foreign or strange!
Leo should not be in the birthing room during the birth, he's a child and shouldn't have to put up with the scary stuff going on in a birthing room. Meeting his sibling at home is good enough.

I'm not saying she thinks Leo has ADHD, what I'm saying is that using "omg I'm so adhd" because we forgot something or have a sudden burst of energy, or saying "I'm so OCD" because we are neat, severely downplays what people with these mental health issues go through. They struggle a lot with being validated and this isn't helping when people say "we're all a little OCD/ADHD". I'm merely encouraging people to stop using these disorders as a quirky joke, because they just have no clue what these people who have it go through. This isn't purely aimed at Jen, I know Jen doesn't have bad intentions and most other people don't either, but that doesn't mean it's okay.

I just wanted to mention it because I still encounter this jokey behaviour for many mental disorders and some friends who suffer from it don't like it when it happens. I personally suffer from pretty bad anxiety and have been downplayed myself and it does upset me as well. But my apologies for picking up on it wrongly in this video!

I suffer from anxiety disorder myself, and have been downplayed in a similar fashion because "everyone has anxiety", which is really upsetting when you struggle to get things done because of it and people think you're just overreacting.
