Got to admit. I do like tuning into these vids and settling down to watch em after a hectic Monday at work. I know that you put a lot of hard work, time and effort into making these films. I’ve picked up a lot of handy and helpful tips through them. 👍🏻👍🏻
I appreciate that! Thanks JW, you're definitely improving mate, it's not easy coming into match fishing these days but if you put the time and research in, eventually it will all click - that's what I keep telling myself anyway 😉
Everyday is a school day with the club guys JM. I’ve learned so much but also got so much still to learn. Enjoying every minute of it. Each individual has their own style and they approach matches/venues in different ways so I’m picking up little bits here and there trying to forge my own path. 👍🏻
That's the way mate, you have to develop your own style and game plan. Copying others will only see you 2nd best, yes there's often a given method or bait on the day but fishing to your strengths and refining the approach is what will get you results.
hi john, what you needed was a under water chain saw i think walmart sells them .joke aside another great video . fish on bro, stan in sunny california .cheers
Thanks for the tip Stan. 😉 I think rather than 5 balls of groundbait, 5 hand grenades would have worked better - might have sunk a battleship or two as well, but the swim couldn't have got any more snaggy. Replying from sometimes sunny York 😂
Cracking video buddy… It looked like you were fishing the M1 matey… them boats would do my head in…. You persevered and credit to ya !! Nice bag of fish !! Well done buddy 👍🏽🎣👍🏽🎣😀😀
I can't believe the amount of boats well one was as big as a ship and when he decided to turn round by you it don't give you much confidence to carry on.but you did which was a result in itself I'm fully of admiration for you how you kept your composure I don't know. Just keep the faith John it's all experience you'll be all the better for it stay safe m8
Thanks Nico, I may have sworn at the end there 😉 Not much point getting overly stressed about it, though it's hard not to, things will only get worse if the head goes - been there, wisdom tells me not to go there again and stay cool 😎
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel I don't know how you didnt swear even more John like you say keep your head in the game you've always got a chance just keep knocking on the door m8 it'll open .
You worked hard for that 3lb mate, Shame nothing decent got their heads down ..Your commentary keeps it interesting and I’m certainly picking up tips 👍
Yes the rewards rarely justify the effort, just makes the days it pays off all the better. Great that you get something out of these vids - it's not as easy as the pro's would have you believe, it's the changes you make to try and tempt something that makes a difference, how I deal with adverse situations and decide on the next move is what I always try to convey.
Did as much as you could John looked like a very frustrating day on a very moody river, to low and clear. The number and size of the boats on the Ouse at the moment is unreal. Good luck in the rest of qualifiers.👍🎣
promising looking bit of river... i think you did everything right.. but if the fish are not there its not happening... lot of pressure on rivers now with the paddleboarding adding to it, and nobody is going abroad at the moment making the boat traffic heavier, i dont mind the boats i think they add oxygen to the water and wake the fish up.. the fish are well used to boat noise... i once won a club match on a river 9lb of silvers.. mainly from firing a pouch of maggots into the wake of passing boats.. and fishing waggler 4 or 5ft deep on the drop right into the wake and picking up dace roach etc.. always worth a try... i suppose you could have fished 5m to hand for them bleak... but its flippin soul destroying fishing when yav gone there hoping for bream etc.... great vid ..wish i was there with ya scratching....
Thanks bud, yes I thought about the whip when i tried the waggler short but they wouldn't sit in the silted up water. I don't think the boats affect it really, not in the deeper water at least, I've had some good catches of bream on the Ouse on very busy boat days, just the noise from them and the helicopters going to York races was irritating me - who said fishing is peaceful?
I fish from a boat and also from the bank and in my experience from both fishing in 14’ of water the boats don’t really have a detrimental effect when feeder fishing. Just my experience and not having a go at you pal. P.S keep the videos coming 👍P.P.S they do a lovely bacon and egg on the opposite side further down 😂
Tune in next week when John fishes the Henley Regatta 😃 Can’t say I enjoyed that I felt your pain all the way through. Frustration Nation. If effort was pounds you’d have had 100lb. Chin up - onwards and upwards mate 👍
Thanks Ant, I think 😉 Yes a frustrating day matey, but that's real match fishing. I hope you got something from the struggle to find fish, just gotta keep trying to work things out but sometimes there's nothing you can do 😢 I'll be back with another grueller shortly 🤣.
Not much else you can do if the bonus fish aren't there. Not the best area in summer though as that's where the cruise boats turn round. Unlucky with the snag as well, there aren't many swim round there with snags like that.
I've never known so many snags on the inside, I had high hopes for that line but I have no idea how Mark fished it the week before unless he went right out to the middle or fished mid depth but the bleak were a nightmare, either that or they just washed into that peg during the week????
No, its hard to adapt in that situation, if I'd been able to trickle a bait over the bottom I'm sure I'd have got some nice roach out over that balled in groundbait but c'est la vie!
Possibly could have made the section win but don't think 17lb of bleak was do-able for the win - they weren't big enough and need to catch them fast on the short whip for that kind of weight - the silt meant they were sat further out so fishing short wasn't an option.
I’ve never understood the fascination with tootling up and down an inland waterway in an overpriced boat. Cruising around the Med, yes. Not the bloody Ouse.
Cow of a peg ' one of them do I stick or twist pegs , don't think there was a great deal you could have done differently ' it's one of those sit and wait or get arm ache days .
I agree....I'd rather be working at it and getting bites than waiting, just don't think the bream were there. Frustrating bolo line, sure I could have got some nice roach out if I'd been able to present the bait over the groundbait.
That's a killer ground bait John I try and use hemp and casters as much as possible, good choice .

Thanks Ian 👍
Excellent stuff , nightmare swim , bleak, branches, boats , you did really well for that weight considering
Always good entertainment and great videos. Hard work trying to keep the fish settled in all that boat traffic!!
Thanks Martin 👍 It was hard work, but it doesn't stop us trying does it 😉

Thanks Phil, gave it my best shot mate. Boats at least were courteous but yes very busy and it wasn't even a sunny day.
Had speed boats flying up river at about 20 knots yesterday....
That's totally out of order mate - at least when I'm videoing, if someone does that to me, I'll be sending the footage to the authorities.
Keep up the work mate.....greets from Zutphen
Thanks Bram, great to hear from you, hope the fishing is better in the Netherlands than it is here this year.

He should have been after those bleak as well. Even the small fish add up after a while.
Unlucky John
Just a shame them bleak we’re to far out to fish for them at speed 🤦♂️🤦♂️👍👍
Too true Daz, I'd have enjoyed nailing em on the whip.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel the way the weights were and being quick with the whip cud of put u up in the money John 👍😉
I know mate, I've done it on bleak in the past and gudgeon a long long time ago when they were abundant on the Derwent.

LOL Stephen, the one bit of kit I didn't pack. Maybe I'll take a Hamlet Cigar to the next one 🤣
Great effort John, you certainly put in 100% to catch...Love the James Cook comment btw...lol
Never mind your turn is just round the corner...hope so.
Thanks Gaz, just keep chipping away, might eventually draw on some decent fsih 👍

dont know how you coped with all them boats john , but hey all them bleak could of been minnows, dont think you could of done much more
No, its hard to adapt in that situation, if I'd been able to trickle a bait over the bottom I'm sure I'd have got some nice roach out over that balled in groundbait but c'est la vie!
If you would have gone flat out for bleak, you could have won that match. This is what match fishing is all about.

Each to their own, I guess they buy them to get bragging rights in a willy waving competition and then feel they have to use it🤣
yuuck bleak bashing day hard luck John
Yep, rubbish ain't it, unless you can empty it on the 3m whip bleaking sucks.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel 1 good early netter + 2lb of perch your laughing 3 hours on long whip ;)
