Hey Clack - thanks for making it click. I struggle to get my head wrapped around the two sided cuts. Your method just kind of clicked as soon as I saw your approach 😊
Great Video. I have a shapoko 3xxl. I kinda like both carbide create and motion, so I totally get what you were talking about with the positioning. I didnt know xbox controllers are natively supported. I just use the keyboard and a mouse, which is fine I have a Z probe. Which totally was one of the best things I did, speeds things way up and makes bit change heights super reliable. But also even with my keyboard further away than yours I just need to get it a 1/4in or less from the probe, so I toss a 1/4 bolt quick eyeball and boom done with height. I setup a fence in my lower left side so thats always my XY origin + 6mm, so I always click quick move to xy origin when I start stuff out. I do wish we could set a done position like you mentioned, but quick xy origin is the workaround
I have both the bit setter and bit zero. I can’t use the bit setter because of the pro dust collection. It slams the bit setter if you don’t raise it up all the way. I chose to not use it for now. I am looking at a work around for that.
@@TheClackShack Its hard to see in the video, and I have the 3xxl not the 4 like you. But mine the bottom of the dust collection pops up with magnets. I do see yours is somekinda different than mine lol. I run a Festool CT15 with the auto on(only festool I have and boy is that thing awesome for dust collection) So Ive had a bit setter and never used it to honest, but I bet if your sweeper part pops off you could use the bit zero, you really only need enough space to get the clamp on the bit and the bit to just touch the zero.
A smart man uses XFasten tape, a caveman uses tape and glue. Nice video. My largest struggle is bit changing and getting back to zero on all three axis. Why don't cut out your jig so your piece sits down in it, it makes locating your work piece easier.
I thought the same thing, but then realized it really only works with symmetrical objects. Oddly shaped items, where you can't flip it over and be the same wouldn't work as well.
Drill a small hole at each end on centerline in offal area for alignment purposes. Align to that on both sides.
Kinda
I love that technique. I'm assuming you could also use the same idea with just a laser machine for doing 2 sided engraving.
Could but lasers are much easier because of not having material holding.

It took me a while to get it too, lol. Glad I could help... enjoy.
@ much appreciated
Sorry I missed most of that, was working in the shop while watching. Can you repeat that all again? 😂
Sure, just hit the play button,,
@@TheClackShack Well I'm a far ways off from getting a play button.

@@IntrexinCustom I have the Shapeoko 5 pro. The bit zero works ok but the bit setter will hit the dust boot if you run the factory sequence.
First thing that came to mind when i saw the thumbnail was, "Wooden handcuffs?"
not exactly.. lol
Nice work!
Thanks..
Have you tried the painters tape/CA glue trick instead of the double sided tape?
I use it at times. Depends on the need
