    Two of the best in the business at doing what they do. Thrilled to see this collab. As someone who plays both online and live regularly and who’s taken all the Carrot Poker School courses and also watched just about every Hungry Horse video, these two coaches actually think about poker very similarly and their teachings pair well together. Looking forward to more of this in the future!

    for the greed theorem, I see so many live pros always bet smaller amounts because "they want to get called" with super strong hands and they think there villains have a weak range. is this a mistake that they are making by not making big bets, like they should in theory?

    • @Arttano
      @Arttano 4 місяці тому

      Sizing down in those scenarios because you want to get called is exactly the mistake he's talking about. Both in theory and in practice when you have the nuts and they basically can't you should just bet big. Without getting to far into the details it's the thing you're supposed to be doing in theory, and exploitatively sound as so few people, especially live, are able to respond anywhere near correctly.

    • @Rodinho37
      @Rodinho37 4 місяці тому

      This is a different scenário. He has the nuts and doesn't block the villain's Calling Range. Usually you want to bet small when facing a perceived weak range to get call from Ax and bottom/middle pairs.

      it's a mistake if they would've called more. it's a mistake if they fold but would've called less. it depends on the people, context and session. you can't have a general rule be a simple answer in this case. it's usually a mistake most of the time if you go that generic to 'find an answer'.

    Question, wasn't spot number 1 the most profitable spot in poker? Hero cbets in position, the turn checks through, and hero bluff catches the river. The whole point is that villains will be over bluffing that line, but this video is saying that villains will be under bluffing that same line?

    • @hungryhorsepoker
      @hungryhorsepoker  4 місяці тому +1

      yep you’re right! pete was tackling this more from an online angle, but agree this spot is massively over bluffed live. because villains are too wide pre and call too much flop and raise too much strong stuff flop.

    • @eugenelee8688
      @eugenelee8688 4 місяці тому +1

      It can both be true that villains are missing mandatory bluffs, and that when they do bet it is a profitable spot to call when you have showdown value. This will happen when they arrive to the river with too many bluffs and too little value(for the reasons marc said). Also because people are too transparent with sizings and they don't bet thinly enough for value, online or live.

    Shouldnt it depend on the range of your opponent? Sure when his range contains a decent amount of 2 pairs we should shove. When you know the guy is most likely on a weak pair or a missed draw why would you jam? I would rather bet tinuly and induce a bluff to exploit them.

    There's some things I'm not sure make sense here. Don't 3-bet AJ when you're against "weak" players because they'll punt off 80bbs with top pair. Kind of makes sense... But they'll also likely hit two pair with J7 when you limp with AJ and you hit Jacks. Then you have to try and work out what kind of gash holding they have because you let them in so cheaply. The whole theory of 3betting is to eliminate random holdings and make ranges so much more obvious. Sounds a little hopeful, keeping players in because you have the mighty mighty hand of AJ and they aren't very good.
