I didn't think I would stumble upon tree yt shorts but I loved it! I love learning more about our world and what's in it. ❤ Thank you for informing me! I didn't know that
That looks more like Ganoderma adspersum to me. Ganodermas usually only feed on dead or dysfunctional wood. They grow slowly and are rarely the cause of tree failure.
cool,I have a photo of a fungus that is growing where an oak tree was cut down. Not having luck identifying it, is there a way I can send a photo for you to identify it for me?
@@frederickheard2022 the decay was soft so spalting for woodwork probably no for this tree. So many trees go to waste by tree companies and so few people do woodworking anymore.
It's a form of land management. Trees are a renewable source of biomass and wood and if you don't prune them they become overgrown and break and get blown over by storms etc etc etc I'm a tree hugger but i also cut grass, bushes, branches, weeds and even dig up poison ivy where it is not wanted. Some logger's clear cut trees for money and cause problems of erosion and wildlife devastation... Most people love trees until they become overgrown and dangerous. Just a few reasons to cut trees. 🌲🌲🌲
Thanks for your informative videos.

Is the jury still out on whether it's an aggressive or an opportunist species?
I'll have to see what Stamets may have determined.
@@f.demascio1857 not very common so aggressive?

Well this tree was dying and the views of the wood show where the decay originated and spread.
I said aplinatum because I have found clear examples of them on same species.
@@arboristBlairGlenn there could've been multiple different species of fungi in that tree.
Wow that's pretty good thanks for sharing that with us

Is the wood interestingly spalted, or is it no good for woodworking?

Can this Ganoderma grow on all species of trees?
I see it on oaks, Calif pepper, plum, bay, and mulberry
