Creation Records and the birth of New Labour

- Short documentary about the relationship between Creation Records and New Labour between 1996 and 1997.
This relationship started at the Brit Awards in 1996 and resulted in Tony Blair becoming the next Prime Minister in May 1997.
This is taken from the Music Moguls PR documentary first shown February 2016.
The mid-'90s were such a time of hope, then everything went to hell.
Could you please elaborate
All roads to hell are paved by good intentions - someone’s quote
It's so much worse now under the Tories. The Tories have fucked everything up beyond belief.
@@MilkmanLocalist ya, them and Nigel, they fukked people‘s headz
Fair play to Liam he never got involved in all that shite
I think Liam got the invite to that shindig as well as Noel. Liam was after all lead singer & founding member of Oasis which started when Noel was still a roadie for the Inspiral Carpets. But Liam & Noel probably had a spat just before it so Noel told Liam not to come with him because he didn't want Liam to show him up there. Liam has developed a social conscience in more recent years. Fair play to him. I love how Noel refers to Liam as 'our kid'. It's also a Welsh expression as my father referred to his younger brother as 'our kid'.
It’s actually scary how clever Blair was
Blair is actually quite an airhead. It's the people around him like Campbell, Mandelson etc who were clever.
It’s not that clever to get people of status and influence to be pictured with you or associated with you
@@bigdave7021 it kinda is when no one else is doing it to that extent
or just how easily led the British public are....
@@TheCulturedThug Gordon Brown too. I heard he wrote most of Blair's speeches.
1:54 poor Alan was about to have his moment 🤣
Blair was once the great white hope, now he's a war criminal. Ain't life odd
Great White Hope? He's not a boxer xD
Eye brows were on point 👌🏼
The biggest con man in British history.
@Jack Mullinger enough about McGee what Tony Blair?
And tony blair 😂
Tony Blair being a saviour is hilarious
Its unbelievable to see the hero's welcome Blair received from the publc when he won, thousands of adoring crowds waving flags and reaching for a handshake like he was some sort of rockstar, looking back now you see how fucking ridiculous it all was.
Those crowds in Downing Street were completely stage-managed. You can't get into Downing Street without clearance and permission. They were all Labour members.
@Bessie Hillum Labour were not responsible for the 2008 banking crash. The tories even came out and said they would have matched their spending if they were in power. So I'm afraid that argument falls flat on its arse.
@Bessie Hillum that’s bullshit first it was a global crash and second it started in America
I was involved & present at a count where Labour was tipped to win from the Tories. I was a guest of the Lib Dem agent but was going to be a counting agent until I suddenly got a temp job & couldn't get the day after polling day off work. I was with the other guests watching the results come in on TV and seeing Labour win seats they weren't expected to that night but maybe in the next General Election. In Enfield for example.
@@TheCulturedThug They were mostly Labour staffers in Millbank. Rank & file members in London wouldn't have got the chance to get in there.
Good old days ❤️ No I did not forget how big Oasis was 😂
Anyone know the Bowie song at the end?
There's only Pulp's 'This is Hardcore'.

Oh. Thanks
McGee on that cocaine and Jack Daniels diet, outstanding
5:06 ‘everybody won’..........except the public
1:57 - 22 years later there is still no end in sight of him.As for his endorsement of Blair - will he ever live that down?
revol148 will he ever realise of what he did?
You can hardly blame him for what he done.
@@kurtjappy he made it "cool" to vote for Labour - blood on his hands !
Its a BBC documentary, of course its going to lick Labours boots.
@Derek Trump I voted for Blair twice ! Can you imagine the self-loathing I feel !
Noel was on drugs, yh
I can't watch till the end

My Life in UK
MY British life and culture today somewhat promisingly with the information that “post-war immigration means that nearly 10% of the population has a parent or grandparent born outside of the UK.
The UK continues to be a multinational and multiracial society with a rich and varied culture.” Although race and ethnicity are said to be too difficult to estimate, the population has mixed sometimes divided by religion.

He really was 'the future once', as odd as it sounds to say that today.
@Bessie Hillum he said that Blair 'was the future once' on that first PMQ they did together.

@@jonasrmb01 They were the face of Britpop. Who else is Britpop if they weren't?
Love the band and would have backed New Labour had I been a British voter.
Blair first turned to Damon Albarn to get the youth voting Labour but Damon decided he didn't like Blair and saw something dark in his soul. So he distanced himself from New Labour by saying he was a communist. Might have been in jest as he probably was just Old Labour.
THEN tony b and mick jagger had a baby called euan and got oasis songs dedicated to him by lg
My parents absolutely hated Tony Blair right from when he announced that he was standing in the leadership contest. This despite them being Tory voters. I suspect they would have preferred John Prescott to win the leadership contest even if Labour was set to win the next general election just as much with him as well as well as with Blair. Well at least Prescott was more down to earth & older not a young flashy upstart like Blair. Blair was also what we know call an empty suit.
Are you having a stroke?
@@moonman3812 No, are you?
in contrast to most of the comments here, and in full acknowledgement that iraq ended in tragedy, i think blair was fantastic for britain and a true statesman
Exactly, things were so much better from 1997 to 2010. Everything went to absolute shit when the Tories got back in again.
New Labour ......Same result
Minimum wage
Free heating for pensioners
Massive public spending boosts
Good Friday agreement
Scottish and Welsh devolution
Far less corruption
Human rights act
Gay civil partnerships
