Steven Yeun Teaches Conan About Traditional Korean Punishments For Children | CONAN on TBS

I feel like steven yeun is one of the few guest star that conan genuinely like and befriended. Great chemistry between them too. Hopefully conan take him too on some of his future travels
edlin riadi He should be on the podcast
Kevin hart and ice cube too I suppose
Conan should take his daughter, Aubrey Plaza, when Conan visit Puerto Rico.
fransptr are you implying that Aubrey plaza is Conan’s daughter lol
@@frostbitepokin9520 well, Aubrey called Conan "Daddy".
Korea is the Ireland of Asia: both divided into 2 of North & South, both populations infamous for their heavy drinking culture and diet of cabbages!
and also was ruled by japan unwantedly. Ireland was persecuted by England right? We have more common things about fight for imperialism.
And random singing for some reason
And PO-TEY-TOES!!!
I am Korean and I confirm you guys all legit
I actually always saw a lot of commonality between Ireland and the India subcontinent, in the sense that both were once under the imperialist jackboot of England, and both suffered partitions imposed on them by England (Ireland & North Ireland, India & East/West Pakistan). Oh, and both suffered horrific man-made famines under British rule (Great Famine, Bengali Famine of 1943)!
Also, in the 1900s-1920s, there were lots of covert ties established between Irish nationalists, Indian nationalists, and the German Foreign Office (see the Annie Larsen Affair). It's pretty interesting stuff.
“There’s like no weird Irish punishments??” Conan: “Yes! Being Irish” 😂😂😂
Just N living next to Britain
I really hope he gets cast in more movies. He was phenomenal in Burning.
i'm trying to find that movie but to no avail. where did you watch it??
He was also great in Sorry To Bother You
He was also great in Mayhem.
I was just thinking of this movie haha 😂
Mia Conan you can watch it on KissAsian
"You don't seem to know much about Korea"
"Guys..."
That coming right after he called soju a gnarly drink seemed a bit misplaced to me...it's 24% alcohol, you can buy a mickey of it for the equivalent of about 1 USD in just about any corner store you see in Korea, it tastes reminiscent of gasoline, and most Koreans I've known were capable of gulping down liters of the stuff in one crazy night. It is gnarly.
@@auturgicflosculator2183 its 3 usd at least
As a Korean who lives in Korea, there were such tradition before my generation( i was born in 90s).
The reason the parents make the kids to put a rice shifter is an wish for them to grow healthy like grain, and the salt means to chase the demons that might have touched the kids to pee at night.
That makes a lot of sense, actually
연세대 만쉐
I'm a Korean Korean too, but i haven't heard so
@@sweatyalpaca It depends on the generation... when were u born? Younger kids don't really know old traditions than older guys (obvs)
younger generations are too "westernized". losing our culture slowly.
This friendship makes me happy.
"What is soju made of?"
".....rice?"
He just named the most cliché ingredient for an Eastern-Asian drink. And he more or less accidentally nailed it.
No it's made out of sweet potato
@@sunnyside100I know this comment is a year old but soju can be made out of both! It was originally made out of rice, but most common, cheaper brands these days tend to be made out of sweet potato. I had a high quality soju made out of rice recently, and it was very delicious
I didn’t know Steven had a son and know he’s having daughter
Wasn't his son named Hershel?
@@mr.personhumanson6871 how dare you
I didnt even know he was married
I know I never had a chance with him, but now that I'm finding this out I am HURT lol
His son is named Jude
I love how Steven never seems to know for sure about Korean culture 🤣🤣
No one is talking about how cute he is in those glasses and the sweater and the relaxed confidence from being on the show so much/being friends with Conan?
i love conan and steven together.
It’s always great when is is on the show. He and Conan have good onset chemistry
The bromance between these two is undeniable and it's definitely humorous. I need more of that..
I legit finished watching Conan without borders: Korea when I got the notification for this so, I guess we are being watched
Hikaro Ochima That’s crazy weird. I saw it on Netflix and watched the episode tonight as well.
Our FBI government spy’s are back
I've been missing Conan's upload, and then I was notified. I guess, I have to wear a tin foil hat
Same
Omg that tradition happened back in the day xD Did he do it as a kid? 😆 Interesting!
That's what tradition means, it's been happening for a long time
There're even Old drawings of those traditions, like from 16, 17th Century.
Lol Joseon dynasty
I'm sure he was joking
Your username is more concerning to me than anything that happened to Steven, and I realize that makes me wrong.
Always love Steven Yeun. He seems like such a chill guy.
organicgrains , he seems genuine and cool
organicgrains he’s a hottie for sure
@@kristinabeltran6363 agreed
FULL. INTERVIEW. Please a lot of us are not from the US. And we need our heavy dose of conan.
They put that on their website. Go to link on description
VPN man
@@firebreathercat133 is vpn safe?
@@gracieambrosio4967 vpns like Nordvpn, expressvpn, private internet access are pretty dope.
Also some of us are poor and dont want to pay for a vpn
Watching some Conan scraps when I got notified for this. Hello everyone.
Lotte Hi 👋
oui. bonsoir.
What up sis
Hola
Lotte, har du tisset i en potte? Fnis
Steven! He’s always been one of Conan’s best guests, I love when he’s on the show.
Asking for salt when a child wet a bed is actually very very old Korean tradition haha😂 No one does that to their children these days, of course once I went to neighbor’s house asking for salt obviously 🙋♀️
But why salt? Is that related to the fact that our pee is salty xD
Alen Hadzic joking aside, someone says about superstitious beliefs and other says that it’s bc salt is good for your bladder control. you know, there’re many hidden meanings as usual 😉
I saw that on Return of Superman.Lee Dongguk sent his son Sian askin for salt 😐 .Maybe it was just for TV
Whoever did that instead of hugging their kid and telling them it's alright deserves punishment. Wetting the bed itself makes them feel terrible.
@@sadiaadil6423 Omg this dude is a really bad father in that aspect. He treats sian totally different than his daughters just because he thinks men "should be strong and never cry" bullshit that is.
Brother never aged a bit.
Yeah but the asian guy isn't bad either
He's so cute
Asian genes
I do wish that team Coco would start putting out full interviews instead of snippets!
But if even 1 person decides to tune into his show on tv because of the snippet they saw on UA-cam, it's doing its job
@@slipperynipple1011 I guess you are right. I don't have a TV so I won't know
Yeah, this show doesn't air in my country
Met Steven at a convention last month. Such a nice guy!
I like how nobody noticed him slip in “self deprecating” lmao
I feel like humanity as a whole doesnt deserve Steven Yeun. He's far too good
- There's no weird Irish punishments?
- Yes, being Irish.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i couldn't stop laughing at this.
" Being Irish " Conan is so quick witted he's the best
I remember when they went out eating traditional korean food. Conan asked Steven what everything was, and Steven was like a tourist himself "I think that's some korean made potato salad." You know just the basics.
So the line "I don't think you know much about korean traditions.", suits perfectly. 😂
"Just eat whatever my mom put in the plate"
These two are so damn good together. Who would’ve thought?
Love it.
I love conan and steven when they are together.
Literally, the only reason I'm watching this is because Steven Yeun is the voice of Keith in VLD and I love his voice so much.
I'm still pissed they killed Glen.
I just started watching The Walking Dead (very late to the party) and after *that* episode I couldn't take it anymore. I had to switch to episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine as a palate cleanser!
What a horrible scene that was. I had to avert my eyes for a moment and I don't normally get squimish with violence or blood.
Who’s Glenn?
"yes, being irish!" lmaooo
Can you two do another travel show together!!? I loved you two travelling in Korea.
where the hell is the reply from Steven Yeun?
@@lalalala-ce3fn lmao I just saw the vid
They guys seem like such genuine people with eachother I loved all their Korea trip videos
I CANT every time i hear Steven's voice all i hear is Keith.
Same😂
I love the relaxed atmosphere with Conan and Steve. Those two look really close. Steve looks like one of the few guests that makes Conan comfortable.
Conan and Steven are the best!!!
I'm liking all of this, I'm glad Conan has both the studio and online shows, I'm also so very glad the conan travels are on netflix
This is the type of video you click on immediately!
Steven at the end... “Guys...” so cute
Tig Nataro and Steven Yeun? I love this week’s guests!!
Lol i love how it ended “you dont seem to know much about korea”
It was a cute line, but my first thought was "because he's American!" He moved to the States when he was really little.
Watching Steven talk about Korea is really fun and entertaining. It comes from him knowing more about Korean culture than average Korean Americans, but knowing less than average Koreans. The mismatch gives you room for humor -- he knows the begging for salt thing for kids who have wet their beds (which is quite obsolete now), but doesn't know for sure where soju (which is drunk by millions every day) is made with -- though they're mainly rice, sweet potatoes, barley, and things like that, nothing special.
My literal favorite duo is back. Conan & Steven are comedy gold!
Hilarious and enjoyable to watch. More please!
Please make another long episode with him, what a great combination they are!
"It's a good way to get free salt though". Andy is the best.
We need to see the whole interview!!!!!
Please upload!!!!
I missed steven yeun on Conan 🤧
Why are you throwing up?
best guest ever!!!!! want him back on the show as many times as possible! jaja they're really funny together!!
I feel like I'm liking the new setup and casual look more with each new episode. Conan's a great talk show host, that is all. No desk or fancy suit required.
I love the honesty Steven when it comes to parenting ! 👏 unlike a lot of other celebrities.
There's no weird Irish Punishment?
"Yes, being Irish"
😂 Conan is so fast & witty
Steven and Conan are always entertaining, they should start a separate show together tbh.
Me being Korean growing up. My punishment was "bring me the discipline stick", "go outside bring me a branch", "go in the corner and keep your hands up", or I would get hit with slippers
Tim Lee the hands up is a Indian one as well, so is the stick.
I want more of this! Conan and Steven just talking.
I dont know about funny but these two are so comfortable together that it's nice to watch a genuine convo
Good clip. We need more of Steven Yeun and Coco interactions, imo.
Anything with Steven Yuen and Conan, I click
Conan's show is always funny and fun
Steven Yeun
I'm big fan of you
conan Please do Korean SPA part 2 . LOL Hahahah please
Good seeing Conan back and with Steven although this new Conan format is questionable to the hr long show. Cant see how this is better in any way as of yet.
ahhh i love when steven comes hes just so awesome and its fun to see him and conan
also is the salt thing really true xD
Loved the North Korean remotes with this guy and Conan
*Definitely give it a watch*
If this guy ever hits 40, his charm will be off the charts
I just watched admiral Yi's story on youtube and was feeling kinda sad and mad, on hearing Conan saying from 1:40 I started laughing out loud. Man he is gorgeous truly.
I really like the new set, Conan is so close to the guests now hahaha!!!
i feel like conan love Steven Yeun so much that when you watch the show Yeun is the host and conan do all the talking
ohh yes another video with them together . They get on so well, they should do a show together !
Steven Yuen on Conan? Yes please!
The best duo
I like how I'm not the only one who's noticed how he's changed, Conan has too. Especially looking at past interviews of them together
so happy for steven, and his soon-to-be daughter!!
It's crazy how much losing the desk actually changes the dynamic here. I mean of course both of them are friends, but even if you weren't listening, this feels way more like a normal conversation than an interview.
Conan is back and the world is a better place because of it
PUREST HUMAN BEING
I see Steven and Conan, and I click
Yessss we need more Steven Yun noo we deserve more Steven Yun 😃
Steve and Conan have a similar vibe.
i LOVE conan and steven yeun duo!
I need as much Conan as possible in my life
Love these two together!
i am so so proud of steven ! i can't not believe that you are talking about Korean culture in America tThank you so much !
In my half of Korea, traditional punishments are gulag and being fed to dogs. Also, I still remember when you guys visited my nation and did a show here for a few minutes. I enjoyed it very much. Please come back soon
Twist, at labor camp you then eat those dogs. Circle of life.
I think it's mainly because there's no salt or rice in your half of korea.
@Mr. Random Good comrade. Thank you for repeating party line. Your family can now have loaf of bread to thank you for good job.
어후 김정은 동지 여기서 뭐하는거임ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Omg I honestly love this combo😍😍😍
I love it when both are together.
hes like my ultimate crush, hes beautiful
I’m in love with him
They vibe so well together
Love them both together.
their friendship is so nice
More Steven Yeun, please!!!
Team coco!!!
Hey conan i am from India.. And I am one of ur biggest fan.. Jst hope will meet u one day before u retire😂
I don't know what it is about this guy but I like him
Conan: What's soju made of?
Steven: ...........rice? o.O
He's not entirely wrong but the certainly of his answers about Korea is just hilarious every time.
Ever seen steven yeun acted in "burning" he became more philosophical
So true i do have allergic to the sun and heavy drinker... lol what a point
