Agreed. The best way to beat this level (in my opinion and through my experience) is to: -beat the first section with Yoshi (when you get to the last 'flower', flutter with yoshi and you should be able to reach the launch star with yoshi) -second stage is pretty easy, just keep moving in 1 direction and you won't get hit -third stage might be difficult. You will have to abandon yoshi at this point. Make sure you get to the launch star with at least 2 clouds (better to have 3, but 2 will do) -fourth stage will be a lot easier with those clouds, but still may be difficult. (Use the clouds on the most difficult places) -fifth stage can be really overwhelming. Just plan out a path that you will take ahead of time. (I only killed 2 hammer bros because the longer you take, the higher the chance of dying) -don't jump straight into the perfect run. Practise on the normal version where you have 3 lives. Here, plan out routes, test them, trial and error, and practise(Stage 1 is different between the normal version and the perfect run [there are more mines and the goombas are the green enemy's now]) -if you get angry, stop playing because that is only going to make you worst at the game . -in some places, it's okay to take your time. Don't go forward if you aren't ready yet.
This level truly reminded me why I love Nintendo. There's an in depth challenge that makes you work hard after getting 241 stars that says if you actually want to finish the game you need to work for it. Took me 131 tries but it made me smile when I finished. Plus they put that 1 star bit at the beginning just to mess with your head. Definitely a great ending to a perfect game.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 music is amazing, From the intro music (Star Festival mixed up with Gusty Garden) to original music titles such as Gusty Gardern, Good Egg Galaxy, and much much more!
I love the selection of music that's in "the perfect run", its actually different from the first star of Grandmaster Galaxy. That music is saying "this is it, 241 stars, and it all comes down to this." "Today, you will become a GRANDMASTER OF GALAXIES!"

For those who have trouble in the 4th part of the stage, here's a tip if you haven't noticed. The thing that throws the laser will not release it if Mario pass it, even staying within the limitations of the laser. You can see that happening at 2:02
nicely done. the perfect run took me 2 days but i got it. great level, great game. they really made this one for the hardcore fans who are thorough enough to play the game the whole way through no matter how hard it gets
Within about 20 minutes, I actually managed to beat this. Started with 13 lives, completed this on the very last one. Completed the Hammer bros segment on the first try (as opposed to The Ultimate Test which consumed most of my lives on that segment ALONE!). And didnt even get to freak out yet, let alone rage quit. How awesome am I? It was also nice of my Wii to congratulate me for beating it, too. I feel so special now.

I just now beat this after somewhere from 20 to 40 tries, and now I have all 242 stars! It also felt satisfying to meet and talk to Rosalina at the end before getting the star and when she came aboard starship mario. 💙
Wow.... The memories.... Perfect gameplay, the perfect challenge, the perfect win. Thisfelt incredibly fullfilling when I did it. Actually..... Only Mario and Demon's Souls gave me that fix this gen.
I remember completing this it took me 23 attempts or more... it's been years since i remember playing this game... actually this was my childhood i should say! and it was awesome :)
legit took me 50 lives..but that satisfaction of completing the game was truly amazing. I agree that it's one of the best game that Nintendo made. Could have done something better about the controls though.
With some practice, the other phases can be accomplished, but the last one is the scariest. My palms will never sweat as much as they did when I was beating the last three boomerang Bros. But once you beat this star it is oh so satisfying.
huh. out of all of the comets, I loved the fast foe comets. until the stone cyclone galaxy. then I despised them. then I started liking the speedy comets and daredevil ones.
I was very late to SMG2 and only started playing a month ago. I beat the perfect run this weekend after about 4 hours using the below strategy if it could help anyone still struggling! First acquire a heap of lives by going to World 4 Supermassive Green Star 1. When you get to the giant Koopas, long jump on one of their backs and keep bouncing until you start racking up lives (up to 99) then grab the green star when done. I found initially that I could get passed the first 3 stages almost every time however constantly died on the red/blue panels and sentry beams and was not improving much given the long play time to get to the harder sections. If I got to the hammer bros it was total luck and I would panic and die straight away. What worked for me was to go back to ‘The Ultimate Test’ and practice problem areas individually by setting a checkpoint, practice the area and suicide if I got hit. I did this until I could regularly finish the panels/sentries without getting hit and then did the same for the hammer bros. It is all finding a pathway that works for you for each section. Good luck!
@@clickycal for me, this is definetely harder. For Champion's Road, you can take Tanooki Suits, get hit, use Rosalina. This one, you got nothing, just Mario's spinning ability.
Aaron Harvey In case you are still stuck there, the first 2 hammer bros don’t matter, just skip them and same for the next one. The next part is a bit tricky since the hammer bros throw far. Just be patient and spin attack them or squash them when they stop for a second. Keep on repeating this until you get to the boomerang bros. You can duck until they wait for the boomerangs come back then get behind them or to the side of them and squash them or spin attack them. Repeat this process until a launch star appears and make sure you don’t hit a stray boomerang or hammer when going to the launch star, then just get the star. There is a 1-up behind the house but it is VERY RISKY, so just get the star, you can get another life another way
FINALLY! After getting 99 lives in the Supermassive Galaxy and losing about 20 of them, I finally beat The Perfect Run! =D The funny part is that on the try that I won it, I accidentally used all 3 of my cloud platforms before I reached the 4th part with the yellow spiked lasers. Surprisingly, I managed to get through it without a single cloud (I was very lucky). And then in the final part, I kept ducking to avoid the boomerangs, then spun to defeat all 3 of the Boomerang Bros! It was hard...
I’m happy to say that I completed the level a couple days ago, it’s possible yo. The thing that really helped me win was crouching under the boomerang dudes.
The level designers that made this level just TPed themselved to the point where they died at and beat it then called it a day... there is no way they tested the entire level without cheating and never thought about OUR SANITY
for the part with the blue stars, you can press z to drop then click the same star again and let yourself go flying upwards. You can click the next blue star and you'll be over all the obstacles. Makes it a LOT easier
When I did this I thought you had to kill all of the koopas at the end... and I did... now that I know you don't have to I want to beat myself up SO MANY DEATHS D: but it was worth it haha
***** If you're -playing on easy mode- using Peach or Roaslina and/or maybe a Tanooki, _maybe_ The Perfect Run. If you're like me and are using Toad without powerups, Champion's Road makes The Perfect Run look like a complete joke. The Perfect Run does no require the player to be anywhere near as quick nor precise as Champion's Road and S8-Crown.
I'm not going to yell at you. I'm just extremely confused. Perhaps if you compared your experiences with the two, I'd have an easier time seeing why you feel the complete opposite from me. I could be remembering things wrong, but I recall four of the six areas in The Perfect Run being very easy. I do know that I died nowhere near as many times on The Perfect Run as I did Champion's Road, even if I had absolutely no excuse for some of my deaths in the latter... The first is just a matter of pointing at the screen and fluttering at the right moment. The second is just lighting up a bunch of panels arranged in a 2x2 square pattern without getting hit by easy to avoid lasers, especially if Yoshi is brought along. The third is just an extremely spacious windy area with electric barriers that require Cloud Mario to navigate through, made even easier by the fact that it's locked to 2D. The sixth area is trivialized because you can just crouch and crawl towards the Hammer/Boomerang Bros. and spin when close enough.
i remember the first star for this galaxy when i was like "woooww this is so cool! i think its my fve galaxy! :D" but when the daredevil comet came...omg i like shit myself.
I was gonna give up after seeing this level, I did it in 7 goes. Some green star levels took me a lot more. Was really lucky to have got through it so quickly.

My favorite part about this mission is that it brings back my two favorite soundtracks from the first game.
I needed 7 years to beat this stage, and I finally made it!!!!!!!
I love doing this mission! It's the only fun thing I have left to do in the game anymore!
How’s life now
I remember telling my friend that I beat this level and he was amazed
I can honestly say that beating this level is one of the most frustrating things I've ever done in a video game.
0:35 anyone noticed that yoshi wasnt on the ground?
With some practice, the other phases can be accomplished, but the last one is the scariest. My palms will never sweat as much as they did when I was beating the last three boomerang Bros. But once you beat this star it is oh so satisfying.
To me, this level was easier than timed purple coin challenges. I like daredevils more than speed runs,
Saaaammmmmeee
huh. out of all of the comets, I loved the fast foe comets. until the stone cyclone galaxy. then I despised them. then I started liking the speedy comets and daredevil ones.
I actually really enjoyed untimed purple coin missions
@wiilover07 - My friend said it wasn't actually that bad, it just requires timing.
I remember beating this level when I was 11 years old. Good times. :)
Good luck!
It's hard to say which is harder between this or champion's road....but I might give it to thus because the physics of the game.
This because YOU CANT GET HIT ONCE
SuperMarioSheriff
HOLY CARP, SHERIFF!! Found ya here!! Of course it’s on a Mario video!! Haha!!
SuperMarioSheriff
Well, unless I’ve mistaken you for someone else? :0 😅
@@clickycal for me, this is definetely harder. For Champion's Road, you can take Tanooki Suits, get hit, use Rosalina. This one, you got nothing, just Mario's spinning ability.
Its good to see there is at least 870,000 people who had trouble with this galaxy, not just me.
I can just imagine falling off the last platform just before getting the star...
Anyone who beats this star challenge definitely earns bragging rights
I made this level is Super Maker 2 : BTG-622-VSG ! Hope you'll enjoy it
Please don’t put me though this bull crap again
@@I_Eated_The_Soap lmaooo
I love this level and the Wind garden music. Took me 8 and a half hours to beat this game and the last level was just so awesome.
I just finished this level and it feels pretty awesome. I do feel kinda bad for the 70 Luigis or so who died for the sake of the last star.
This level is kicking my ass right now, hopefully after watching this it should help me out.
this star made me literally break my chair with my foot giving me lacerations and very deep splinters in the process
Oof
that last section with the boomerang and hammer bros killed me soooo many times
Aaron Harvey In case you are still stuck there, the first 2 hammer bros don’t matter, just skip them and same for the next one. The next part is a bit tricky since the hammer bros throw far. Just be patient and spin attack them or squash them when they stop for a second. Keep on repeating this until you get to the boomerang bros. You can duck until they wait for the boomerangs come back then get behind them or to the side of them and squash them or spin attack them. Repeat this process until a launch star appears and make sure you don’t hit a stray boomerang or hammer when going to the launch star, then just get the star. There is a 1-up behind the house but it is VERY RISKY, so just get the star, you can get another life another way
I completed this game with 241 stars when I was 8. Now I'm 12. Beat the perfect run yesterday
FINALLY! After getting 99 lives in the Supermassive Galaxy and losing about 20 of them, I finally beat The Perfect Run! =D
The funny part is that on the try that I won it, I accidentally used all 3 of my cloud platforms before I reached the 4th part with the yellow spiked lasers. Surprisingly, I managed to get through it without a single cloud (I was very lucky). And then in the final part, I kept ducking to avoid the boomerangs, then spun to defeat all 3 of the Boomerang Bros! It was hard...
The only parts I really find challenging is the red and blue flip switch area and the hammer bro area
agreed but its so long and easy to choke and get frustrated
Exactly!
I’m happy to say that I completed the level a couple days ago, it’s possible yo. The thing that really helped me win was crouching under the boomerang dudes.
@@AlexCreed yeah I beat it a couple days ago too what helped was shooting the boomerang guys with star bits to stun them
Lol I would never have enough starbits, but congrats!
I finally got that star today!
The level designers that made this level just TPed themselved to the point where they died at and beat it then called it a day... there is no way they tested the entire level without cheating and never thought about OUR SANITY
YOU ARE THE MAN!! I TRIED BUT I DIE IN THE 4TH PART THOSE MACHINES ARE VERY HARD TO AVOID!!
Looks like one of those levels where you fail once then you fail continusly.
I beat this with my friend 2 years ago. I tried it again today and I FINALLY beat it
181 tries, and I STILL CANT GET THIS DAMN STAR!
*sobs*
for the part with the blue stars, you can press z to drop then click the same star again and let yourself go flying upwards. You can click the next blue star and you'll be over all the obstacles. Makes it a LOT easier
When I did this I thought you had to kill all of the koopas at the end... and I did... now that I know you don't have to I want to beat myself up SO MANY DEATHS D: but it was worth it haha
Hardest to easiest, this is how I'd rank each zone:
_Switch-pads > Hammer bros > Yoshi > Pull-stars > Clouds > Blue Pads_
Just beat this today. Massive weight off my shoulders.
Hey! The hand cursor is the Galaxy 1 cursor, the one with the blue star in the middle. The Galaxy 2 one had an A in the middle.
This is, hands down, THE toughest star to complete. I've tried it. Died about 30 times. STILL can't get through it...*facepalm*
Been trying for 7 days, can’t beat it
i beat this on my first try.
my advice is to keep playing "the ultimate test" part until you never get hit.
The Game Over Music is what makes this Stage Shine cause your gonna hear it ALLOT
I had to get my girlfriend to freeze the enemies at the last part so I could win :/
FINALLY got this level done, it's level 4 and 6 that got me the most, but mainly level 4.
They just don't make games like these anymore.
Super Mario Wonder with the level Final Final Test Badge Marathon:
"Am I a joke to You?"
"Laughs in Champion's Road from Super Mario 3D World"
when i was able to finish that star i was really happy !
Which is tougher? Galaxy 2's Grandmaster Run OR 3D World's Champion Road?
mmmmm i would say more or less the same , but in the 3d world u have items and u have more chances , i bet 2 3d world though
CharacterLimits true , i am not that good to finish it with toad
Everyone will yell at me, but I used toad on Champions Road and it was tricky but not very difficult. The perfect run is EXTREMELY hard IMO.
In my opinion, that was one of the hardest Mario levels I have ever played. It was harder than Champion’s Road and Long Journey’s End.
i remember the first star for this galaxy when i was like "woooww this is so cool! i think its my fve galaxy! :D" but when the daredevil comet came...omg i like shit myself.
I was gonna give up after seeing this level, I did it in 7 goes. Some green star levels took me a lot more. Was really lucky to have got through it so quickly.
