i need a whole video of him just roasting and ranting about all the shakespeare plays he hates
yes pls
This 😂
😂😂😂
I’m eternally pissed off that they didn’t do the full line “do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there?”
Exactly
RIGHT
It’s Taylor Swift’s use of “you” and “me” that gives it away.
Ikr😂😂😂😂i was thinking the same
oh you ARE a swiftie when you knew to correct 'pain' for "paint"
So fun! William Shakespeare being called London boy ☠️☠️☠️
The fact that you can even do this quiz and have it be fairly tough shows just how incredible of a lyricist Taylor is
As a Swiftie who has a BA in English, this is the best thing ever!
Same here, totally
BA?

I know this is a year old, but, if you havent - Please watch What Do You Do with a B.A. in English? by Avenue Q
“we like sheep” story had me in stitches 💀
These are so much fun. Your dad is really engaging, and absolutely knows his Shakespeare!!
Not his dad
"He didn't abandon his family. He just didn't live with them for 20 years or so." That was the best!
I don't really listen to a lot of Taylor Swift, and I don't care for Shakespeare's plays (like his poetry, though). I still guessed about 85% of these right. This was fun!
"Have a good verb," "avoid prepositions," such good tips
Ivy really is the best song on evermore TASTE
“I haven’t read that since I was a gentleman.” LMAO
please have him back on to give us essay/writing tips because i’ve definitely been using too many ‘that’ clauses 😭
I love these videos with your dad. The story with the opera 'I like sheep' made me cackle!
That’s the funny thing, they are not father and son! 😅😂
@@GagaBoy1346 huh? in the first video he calls him dad and refers to him as "my dad"?
@@nicolev.3532 he does in this video too
Clearly I just need to listen to Evermore more since I only missed the Ivy and Coney Island lines.
Yes pls evermore needs more love🙏🏻
"blondie ---- shakes a pear" 💀 who wrote these
Also the “London Boy”💀
As someone with B.A. in English (and a Masters in Library & Info Science) two things I hated in retrospect about the English education I received was 1) there was not a single foundational/intro course about proper grammar-I guess it was just assumed we received that education in high school and 2) very very limited course options for learning how to write. So basically the entire four years was just reading a shit ton of novels 🙄
as in Creative Writing classes? otherwise that’s what English 100/101 is for.
I’m a Literature and a Linguistics student (in my mother tongue). We had Grammar classes as well and I realised that might didn’t appreciate them enough:D
Honestly the tips at the end for writing an essay were amazing! He's so right, we do write for the test, not to actually write well. Please let him know it was great advice!
I just love your dad, him smiling, laughing and also educating me at the same time. You guys are very wholesome
OMG "Back when I was a gentleman"? On the floor cry-laughing. There are no emojis sufficient for that! Love to Professor Dad! ❤️
I love this guy so much. More Professor Friedberg content please
This was so fun and also usefull, both for his knowledge about Shakespeare and his advice about writing an essay. And as both a swiftie and a Comparative Literatures master student, I love the fact that he is a university professor and yet, when faced with really good lines from a pop songs, has no problem or shame in saying "Thats brillant". Thanks to him for that! We need more scholars who are not snobish and so they can appreciate the literary worth of good lyrics in pop songs. Thank you, professor, sooo much!
"We like sheep" had be dying!
My fav part of this delightful video is the stack of essays and the red pens at the ready!
Love it! You should try making a homemade one or with UA-cams help anyway so he can't try and game theory it. We could submit lyrics to you for it and you could pick them out a hat along with quotes.
guys i think his favorite evermore song is ivy
Are u an empath🤔??
So much fun, I'm a theater major and a swiftie so it's a treat. Your dad's the funnest!
Your dad seems like such a gentle person. Thanks for sharing your time with us!
This guy is amazing, we need a whole video about English literature
its really amazing how the fact that these kinds of videos just shows how taylors lyrics are so poetic to the extent that people are trying to differentiate shakespeare's writings to taylor's lyrics. congrats swifties!!!!
U can tell the one who made this quiz loves Ivy
I absolutely appreciate this! 😍😍😍
oh wow I've been thinking about the part 1 lately. This is great thank you!
Thank you for having your dad again, I am feeling very much under the weather and it really brought me comfort!
this was really nice. i really enjoyed this hes so witty and charming
Happy new year Andy’s Dad! Great to see you back on the channel.
Gloucester is also a city in England in the county of Gloucestershire.
great vid! as a swiftie myself i found some of these to be a toss up so u guys did a great job! 😊
I refused using so many clauses/prepositions in one of my essays and just wrote short sentences. Afterwards the professor criticized me for writing like a middle school kid.
Okay now I love you guys so much already
Happy New Year guys and welcome back Professor!
He is definitely a professor
He has such a warm presence :)
“True love did never run smooth” seemed to affect your dad! Such a sweet spirit ❤
loving “Mr. Zero Grammys”
I think his favorite musical theater song is "God, I hate Shakespeare"
Oh yay part 2! So fun to see father Friedberg back again.
He is just great!!
Wow almost the entirety of "ivy" was in this
I would love to see him give commentary on her songwriting on certain songs
Taylor has an extraordinarily large vocabulary and syllables to pull her lyrics from. Sometimes I need to look song lyrics up to understand what she is singing about.
hehehe I have the same level of good guessing here with your dad because I know as much of Taylor's discography as Professor Friedberg's knowledge of Shakespearian poetry
Your dad is the best 🤣🤣
i love that he is happy saying the name of the ancient one! ☺️☺️☺️
It’s paint you blue
Since you reference Ms. Swift as Blondie, you should reference bill as Baldie
your dad reminds me of my grandfather- knowledgeable ,warm and really sweet
English profs always have the coolest glasses frames.
This is adorable!
I've never really listened to Taylor Swift (I think I know three of her songs), but got 20 right because I really like Shakespeare.
Shake It Off, Blank Space, and You Belong With Me?
(Just a complete guess of which songs you might know)
Is it love story, look what you made me do and lover?
@@sunbearwithwrinklesonback I feel like they'd have to at least know Shake It Off. That song, while not nearly as big as it used to be, is pretty hard to forget, and was incredibly common in 2014-15.
@@craigmoon2121 true I just wanted the original commenter to have options😂
Is it 22, Blank Space, and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together?
I know pretty much all of Taylor’s lyrics so I did really well haha.
geez you father is smart af
He is sooo good
The quiz: All we are is skin and bone
Me: that's courage my love
I'm glad he got atleast one wrong
"We're finding many plays you hate today."
your dad, bitterly & looking off at the distance at 7:44: yeah.
Dad is really smart.
WHAT!! They knew of chameleons in Shakespeare’s time???
Boris Johnson says Churchill used to work with mostly short anglo-saxon words, putting aside French, Latin and Greek words.
Oh my gosh this is a marriage of my two favorite things ever
Big swiftie and I've read Romeo and Juliet once or twice, and I'm hoping to get these right myself!!
Edit: got them all right. That was very easy.
I'm pretty sure "he didn't live with his family for 20 years" is pretty equivalent to he abandoned his family
Not if he's still providing support and sending money back home. Plenty of people today live apart from their families because of their jobs, but no one accuses them of abandoning their families.
@@thefairychild just sending money to your family is not being present in their lives you know its still abandoning
@@Black-Rose12 No, providing willing financial support isn't abandonment. Not having anything to do with your family is. It's possible the professor was being sarcastic, but unlikely since Shakespeare split his time between London and Stratford-Upon-Avon. So this goes back to what I said before that living apart from your family due to a job isn't abandonment.
I was enjoying the video then the Shakira or something took me out :)))))
Sheep giving as you like it energy
16/23 i'm proud
Your dad heard wrong. The repetitive part is “all we like sheep” not “we like sheep” giving it a different meaning; i.e ., we who are like sheep.
Guy who abandoned his family 😂😂😂
This feels very bittersweet. My husband has been teaching Rhetoric-comp and literature for 16 years and is stepping away after this year because higher ed is struggling unfortunately. 😞
Wes Alum '90 English major here -- woot
Can you imagine sitting in front of fire or on porch and just talking with the man. I have grown around people who can't form a grammatically correct sentence. I yearn to sit with educated people . Specially those from humanities . And because am from political science background so the reality is too real, so i would like to escape it all and hear or Learn something from someone like him
Hello!!
My humble request you to react Aadat Instrumental by Nescafé Basement.
he's so funny and cute!! go listen to midnights now
Haha wholesome!
Someone has finally done it! Taylor swift is a legend comparable or more to Shakespeare.
I did a video on that too
Me after Earth calls @2:28
I’ve also snuck out of Handel’s Messiah. 😅
But the we like sheep thing doesn’t seem weird when you know it’s from the Bible verse Isaiah 53:6.
Omggg I recognize the stack of essays he's got to grade, all in mla style 👀
- English major
Shakespeare iiiiiisss the devil y cervantes también 🥰🤣🥰🤣🥰
So funny!
we like sheep!
Its funny cause theyre both saggitarius
help why did I think his advice for writing good sentences was “hella good verb”
I love queen Taylor ❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️
7:23 (and once earlier) My instincts scream that you're pronouncing "despite" wrong as an adjective so now i need to google it lol....
aaand Google says I'm wrong. Apparently "despite of" is just a complex preposition used much the same way as we use "despite" in modern English.
I did QUITE well.
Shakira or something 😂😂
" I haven't read that since I was a gwntleman" I love the prof
I am so sure that father Friedberg performed wayyy better than Taylor or Shakespeare themseleves.
Um, he's a professor so he better know Shakespeare.
by heart? this is stupid
