Sweet Jesus, it has only been two minutes int the video and I am already crying - I relate so much to the acne suffering. I have had acne since I was 7 years old and am currently 30 and everything Cassandra says about the struggle is stuff I've been through - years of wearing a ton of make up feeling like I absolutely have to, getting bullied all my life for my skin, being called all sorts of things and getting criticism from family, friends, coworkers, co-students, everyone basically, trying out every single "cure" I could get my hands on, goign to I don't know how many dermatologists and trying out perscriptions like accutane and antibiotics..... The self loathing, the skin picking, the hatred when I see myself in the mirror, the shame of my face/back/chest/shoulders/other body areas.... I cannot stress enough how important these videos are evethough I have been crying through every single one and every time Cassandra shares her experience.... THANK YOU !!! NEVER STOP!!! THIS CONTENT IS ESSENTIAL

I’ve had acne for years now. I’ve used MANY different products and ingredients but nothing gave me consistent results. My skin would be clear-ish for a week then break out the next! That’s when I finally consulted with a Dermatologist and I’m so glad I did. My skin is at its best and healthiest now than ever.
Ps: Be gentle with yourself and your healing journey!❤

when i was a teen back in the early 70's my acne was so bad my dad said to my mom isnt there anything you can do for my acne. back then there was no "cassandra" to help! i finally out grew it when i was in my 30's. i was so embarrassed about my face i couldn't even go to school some days.

My aunt had the same problem in the late 60s. And I had it too in the late 70s. Nothing topical helped. The only thing that worked was antibiotics, but when I stopped taking them, I'd break out again. I finally took Accutane when I was 20, and it stopped it. It was truly a miracle for me.

I've been following you since way back in those days when you had that horrible cystic acne and you tried Proactiv. I found your content when you were sharing a color corrector and foundation that acrually covered your acne. I'm back and I've been binging your content because so many other skincare influencers I followed started trending toward clickbait, and the way you talked about your struggles damn near brought me to tears. Back in those days I related to you because I was going through the same shit, and now I've learned the same lesson that my self-worth isn't tied to my blemishes. You're an inspiration, and thank you so much for sharing so much knowledge so more people don't have to suffer like I did. I remember what Proactiv did tp my skin. "The burning means it's working!" Gentle, science-backed skincare is so much better. So thank you

Hi Cassandra, I was struggling with acne during pandemic due to wearing mask all the time at work specially the n95. I never had acne till then and my self esteem and confidence went soo down because of it as i didnt know what was going on and i started spending money on things that didnt even work and stripped my skin more and then i found your channel! You helped me turn and learn my ingredients and not so shockingly the products i was using were actually making my skin worst! I started taking your advice on skincare products as well as went to my physician who gave me a prescription strength retinoid. I still have acne but it is soo much better and I’m so glad to be part of this beautiful butterfly community and thank you so much for turning me into a skintellectual. ❤

For years; I thought i had acne. It started while working as a cleaner at a hospital. I attributed it to genetics, as my mother and father have struggled with it over the years. I spent tons of money on products and continued upgrading the potency of the formulas, because my acne kept getting worse. Eventually, I had tried everything and was stumped as to why i couldn't get the mess to go away. Luckily, i was working at an alternative health center at the time. I mentioned my issue to one of the clinicians and she suggested a simple routine that saved my skin!!! Wash with unscented castile soap, rinse, spray apple cider vinegar over the face and rinse. Turns out; my skin wasnt acne prone, it was sensitive and the treatments for acne were what was causing the breakouts. I put two and two together and discovered that the cleaning chemicals that i was using at the hospital were what initially caused the breakouts on my face. This whole time, i thought my issue was acne, when in fact the acne was a reaction from having sensitive skin!!! Figured I'd share this, in case theres anyone else out there who keeps doing everything right, with no results. Maybe you dont have an acne issue, maybe you just have sensitive skin and need to simplify your routine. Natural soaps, vinegar after rinsing, to balance my skins ph, avoiding fragrances, dyes and silicones was the trick for me. I also use a bentonit clay mask once a week to detox my skin.

Yes! Salicylic Acid and retinoids are in my routine, and benzoyl peroxide in active pimples (small amount). I think talking about which ingredients we should avoid depending on our skin condition is as important as the active ingredients for fighting acne. In my case, my skin hates vitamin c in form of ascorbic acid, for example.

I remember crying my eyes out in a car over a Clinique product who claimed to “cure” acne to my mom begging her to get if for me and cancelling plans in my summer vacation because of my skin. I saved up for so long to buy it as a teen and it made my skin so much worse due to the alcohol. I now know better and thanks to you took time to learn my skin, learn products that worked for me and to take the time to see if the product was working within a time frame or doing nothing it all.
I hit a time at 17/18 and my skin changed for the better. Now I literally will be in any store and google you and the name of the product before I buy. (I might look like a crazy person in that time but it’s worth it.) Or if I know personally a product will work for me even if you haven’t reviewed it or didn’t like it due to the price. I am confident that I can trust you before a big name brand to actually give me advice and not try to sell a product to me.
I even can handle the small breakouts I get once in a while due to the confidence I learned from you. Thank you ❤

Thank you for providing this info on the essentials to look for in anti-acne skin care. It is very much trial and error, and based on the particular skin issues of the individual. For me, benzoyl peroxide was far superior to salicylic acid for treating inflammatory acne. I've stopped benzoyl peroxide because I got tired of years of favorite shirts and towels getting bleached. I still use salicylic acid for blackheads/whiteheads. In addition to the essentials listed in the video, other notable ingredients that I've found nearly as effective as BP for inflammatory acne when used together:
    -Tea tree
    -artemisia/mugwort
    -snail mucin
    -propolis/honey
    -centella asiatica
-zeolite (Fortify skincare is the only brand I know of)
If anyone has had good results with other ingredients/extracts, please add them to the list.

there are a to of create products that are great for acne that I personally use and have worked wonders alongside tretinoin like the nightly exfoliant which is an amazing products. I just don't like when consumers say a product is not good for acne if it makes them breakout because not everything is good for everyone and not all products will break everyone out who has acne people I think need to realize that's just because something works or doesn't work for them that doesn't mean it isn't someone else's holy grail product. love the channel.

Can we maybe not call inexpensive and accessible products a "jar of cruelty"? I can afford to be choosier, both because I have the money and because my skin tolerates nearly anything on the market with no issues. Some elements of skincare are medically necessary, so if CeraVe is the best option for someone with a medical need, let it be. I appreciate knowing which brands don't test on animals and what's vegetarian, but I don't have any issues accessing or using those products. Not everyone is so lucky.

since the weather is getting hot, let us make sure not to point out someone's:
    -scars
    -body hair
    -cellulite
    -extra skin
    -loose skin
    -tummy rolls
    -stretch marks
    -self harm scars
    -dark underarms/inner thighs
-hijabs (asking, "Isn't it hot wearing that?")
    -acne
    -eczema
-vitiligo/other skin conditions (people may just not understand them)
    -how much weight someone's gained
    -how much wight someone's lost
If it's not something they can fix in five minutes (smudged makeup, food in teeth, messy hair), then don't point it out. It's rude and none of your business...

I highly rate azeliac acid. In the UK, it’s prescribed for treating acne. It can also help inflammation and is anti-fungal, so can help with rosacea and seb dem as well. No antibiotic resistance with it like with antibiotics and much less irritation, if any, than the likes of retinoids, benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. So, it can be easily used consistently and target multiple problems. I think it fully deserves to be in the top 5 ingredients list.

Just so you know any flute players! Do NOT use anything with sulfur in it! It will tarnish your mouth piece INSTANTLY and ruin your flute! I used sulfur acne treatment at night and even toner and the rest of my skincare in the morning did not make it go away. I went to practice in the morning and it still was happening. The only thing to remover was silver polishing for like silverware and it was VERY alarming and scary! I looked it up and sulfur plus silver is a reaction and will tarnish bad. LOL that’s all 🤭

I have only recently started watching your videos and have already learned so much useful information about skincare. I also appreciate that you call out products which are/aren't cruelty free. I too suffered really bad acne as a teenager and ended up on Retin A in my early 20's, which I used for a number of years and it really worked. My friend told me that it was an anti-ageing product and that I was so lucky to have it on prescription, but, honestly I would rather have never had the acne in the first place! I have to be careful what products I use and so must always skin test, wherever possible, so as not to waste money. Thank you for introducing me to Ole Hendrikson and the dangers of derma rolling. When my son had teenage acne, we consulted our homeopath and she gave him a remedy specific to his symptoms - I don't know if you have ever used this method of healing - it is fantastic actually, but, his spots just went. I couldn't believe it! You might be interested to find out more about how homeopathy can help and reduce the need for so many 'skin care' products and save a lot of people the agony of Acne. ❤

Red- skyn Iceland Icelandic youth serum
Orange- beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence water
Yellow- stratia liquid gold ceramide moisturizer
Green- glow recipe Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser
Blue green- biossance copper peptide serum
Blue- Peach & Lilly Overnight Star Night Cream
Purple- Truly Beauty Purple Rain Facial Oil
I have combination acne prone skin so I was curious what kind of routine you could come up with. I watch all your videos so I shall repost this on others lol.

One of the reasons that I watch your videos less than before is you are always hating Cerave products. Cerave is the only brand that is okay with my skin and helped me a lot. I've tried many of your recommendations but those are not okay for me. So every time you say that you are not a fan of Cerave I trigger to buy new products and end up with dryness and breakouts. 😅
By the way, I love your videos. And sorry for my bad English.✌🏻♥️

I’ve dealt with breakouts on and on for the majority of my life. It was bad when I was a tween it got good when I was a teenager into my early 20s and then it flared up again then it got good and now I had to get off of the Depo injection nine months ago and all of a sudden my mostly clear skin has all of a sudden broken out. I have always used benzyl peroxide because it works the best for me but now I don’t know what to do. My doctors aren’t helping they suggest for me to get on the birth control pill but after getting off the Depo shot I kind of don’t want to go on hormones but my oestrogen is low so now I don’t know what to do and I’m back to feeling like a helpless 12 year old again. It sucks 😢

Isnt there a new study that shows macula degeneration is mianly caused by oxygenation to the cells of the eye. If so id be a bit worried about skincare that introduced oxygen that can get into the cells, close to your eye? Just a thought.

    • @clarewhite3004
      @clarewhite3004 Рік тому

I mean, oxidation is a huge contributing factor in tons and tons of diseases. Oxidation can also be helpful for some things. I feel like benzoyl peroxide has been studied so much that we're safe using it as directed.

    • @jmszoom

Because there are always internal and other underlying issues that need to be addressed. I also believe using the same ingredient over and over encourages acne bacteria resistance. I will never prescribe benzoyl peroxide for my clients bc it’s too overused, in rx and over the counter.
