Are you another dumb and tone deaf moron...two different types of voices: One lyric,the other Lyric Dramatic...did Pavarotti sing Wagner..did Jonas sing Bellini,no...just enjoy their talent and Artistry... Kauffman has an extraordinary Voice.. the closest we have to Caruso!
I will say he was the best of the 80s and 90s. I heard his American recital debut . Grateful to have heard the voice unamplified, as an entire generation who saw him in parks and arenas had to hear him through speakers. Not the same. He got silly with the giant hankie etc but his Chenier in 96 proves his greatness as a serious artist. Sorely missed

Overly enthusiastic Koreans who do not know any better. Pavarotti seemed bit too relaxed and casual(touching his nose between the phrases) where he would never have done that in front of western audience where some of them are more critical. He did not hold the notes long toward the end. As a Korean spinto tenor living near NYC, Luciano's performance is B at the best here as there is lack of emotion since this aria can reach its dramatic effect when sung by likes of Corelli or Lanza.

I think Bjørling is best in this aria, because this is a lyrical opera, and Jussi perfectly makes out the emotion and also the notes.
