I'm from Jacksonville FL, I can assure you every American knows the legendary RAF lol, battle of Brittain and the use of radar to destroy the luftwaffe is just absolutely legendary.
We ate in the officers' club at Brize Norton many times when we were deployed for Desert Storm. Outstanding facility and wonderful, welcoming people. The USAF and the RAF members are kindred spirits!

Yes for drouge basket refueling. The tanker aircraft releases a hose with a basket on it like a shuttle cock skirt and the plane being refueled flies the unicorn horn into it. Most U.S. planes now days use a different type where the hose is put into the tank like with your car.
I would love to learn falconry. I've always wanted an owl to deliver my magic mail. 😆🤣😂 not really I just love the owls and other trained birds to help with hunting.

Hi we were at Abingdon Air show today and it was absolutely amazing , my husband was stationed at RAF Brize Norton , and we were stationed at RAF Abingdon loved every darn moment.
Unicorn Horn comes in handy when the plane gets thirsty. Planes do not too well mid-air well without go-go juice. This is part of a Probe & Drogue air to air refueling system for aircraft. The probe on that A400M Atlas is the Uni-Corni "horn" you are speaking of. BTW, how is it driving an American left side steering car on the left side of the road? And to think I owned a Dodge Challenger when they first tried to bring back the brand in the early 1980's with a partnership with Mitsubishi! Glad they got it right second time around at least!

I believe that is the C-130 which is made by Boeing and the "unicorn" horn is for mid air refueling. The a rigid hose that extends and the refuel place attaches to the unicorn hose and refuels the plane

If I'm not wrong, that unicorn horn on the plane is for mid-air refuelling purposes. So it do not have to land and waste time during combat. I think!

that unicorn horn is for refueling while in air flight . planes that large need to be refueled by air tankers so they may extend their range .
