I'm extremely excited to see a man who looks like me create and acomblish so much in the archtecutral space. It is so motivating. The marathon continues.
You guys are making such a quality content which is very informative and gives the idea of how the architecture of the world is changing and who are behind these great changes love your videos.
I would love to see some kind of "famous arquitects" series. Maybe a monthly series in wich every month you talk about an arquitect and it's "best" buildings
Thanks B1M, you always keep posting high quality contents that are certainly not click baits. The number 1 in this video is well deserved. Kindly do an video on the "Library of Birmingham" in the UK.
David Adjaye, well done excellence job my brother, God has given you a wisdom and knowledge to support both white and black, especially gh 🇬🇭 mom's land!!
@@cowmoo5596 I suppose it's because you don't hear a lot about architects of African descent. (Western Africa, making an uneducated guess. I have a couple of friends from Nigeria.) Truth be told, I'd never heard of him before, but I'm not really good at names to begin with. Ask me who designed the Louvre Pyramid, or the Sidney Opera House, and um... no.
I really like how textured (sorry, not sire how to say it) some of his buildings are, especially the African American Museum in DC. Looks like the building is wearing fabric all around it and it's nicely detailed.
Could you do a whole extended series about contemporary world architects? I don't see anyone doing it and your way of presenting content is truly watchable
1:47 Honestly thought that was a drawing until you said the word "winter" Also, perhaps an unpopular opinion but I can't say I enjoy his designs too much. Nonetheless, I still appreciate them and that added touch of the African inspired aluminium exterior to number 1 is a very thoughtful idea.
Im not a fan of his architecture personally, but appritiate the hard work u put into your videos. Can't wait for more. My favourites are the NYC skyscraper vids.
Wow...that guy is a talented designer, if I was a developer I would definitely hire David to design my buildings though this is the 1st time I've heard anyone refer to a 51 year old as a young man.
I have to be honest I hate almost all of these buildings but that is more personal taste than a critique on his work. I’m just not a fan of this ultra modern style.
I also thought that Adjaye's aesthetic is too busy on the texture yet lacking of form to be an iconic structure. Those top 5 works are not my favorite.
although the B1M presenters are so charming they could sell sea water to the ocean they might experiment with a tad more engaging background? The content surely justifies a tiny bit more engaging approach?
Love this channel, and the voice you are bringing to the built environment. However, have to say, really not a fan of these buildings. I feel they lack imagination, and rely heavily on repetition. A building should have a feel of awe and wonder, a sense of scale, that creates a presence, and influences it's environment. These constructions are more akin to a child who only had one colour of Lego brick to build with. I think the Russian build is the exception, I didn't mind it.
For the benefit of those high school kids interested in this profession and perhaps save you lifetime of aggravation if you are talented STEM wise, there is rampant fallacy held by people including myself before I entered architecture school that architects are technical people in traditional STEM sense in addition to working with aesthetics but that is complete false. Architecture education in US is 99% humanities discipline i.e. art, history and english with virtually no science classes to receive a diploma.
i dont understand. i mean a few of his buildings look okayish but man, a number of them are just plain ugly, esp when u hear the money pumped into them? how ? is this kinda like "modern art" where ugly/drab = elegant and sophisticated ? also man idk the african museum design seems kinda condescending.
Proud of him as a Ghanaian, I wish him more years and more bigger projects around the world.
And more large scale projects*
he’s my uncle

As an African, Im especially proud of this master's work.

@@notthatguy4703 He's merely complimenting David on being a master of his skill. I don't see what you could be confused about

Can you do a video on classical architecture please?
Your videos are really interesting, but there are never enough photos of the buildings you're talking about!
I would appreciate if you also made extensive or brief history on the current and past great architects and civil engineers

Renlys Other Lover "hate" is such a strong and overused word, especially when it comes to another person's vision/creation. 😐
Omg !!! Im glad i wasnt the only one.....i was looking at them like they look terrible.....just over designed geometric shapes......
I also thought that Adjaye's aesthetic is too busy on the texture yet lacking of form to be an iconic structure. Those top 5 works are not my favorite.
So what would you suggest ?
Good bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong.

COOL
Guys come to India
Ohhh no India you crazy
540 million for a museum!? No wonder we’re in debt
So when it comes to the first African American museum, all of a sudden insects like you are coming out of the wood work to complain?
Yes, and that is cheap.
how can a country with 20 Trillion dollars build a 540 millions dollars building and you telling us thats the reason why u are in debt?
Proudly Ghanaian

The exterior of the art centre is quite ugly tbh.
He's from Africa
Sorry but I don‘t like his style... his buildings don‘t really blend in with the surroundings and they are too minimalistic for my taste
Blend in style, what style of architecture is that...what period is it from?

Like some of it. Do not like the high rise in NYC. Find the cathedral in Ghana to be concerning. Religion and Africa are never a good thing.
Skolkovo project is such a failure btw
Bobo Momo how did something happend?
What do you know about architecture? He is a famous architect and you're a keyboard warrior. See the difference? 😎
Politically Correct I'm not talking about architecture
How is it a failure?
Politically Correct hes famous... okay and? Trump is too the fuck

Haha, thanks!
I love the video, but this guy's buildings are all ugly, abrasive and difficult to look at.
Abominations
Edit two years later: this was a dumb comment
@Hello Perspii, How are you doing?
Besides the African American Museum.....most of these buildings look terrible....
