Do YOU remember Spider-Man? Do YOU remember cake? Well, this will probably make you wish you'd never heard of either of those things. A superhero themed cake with an incredible amount of icing, it shows everyone's favourite webslinger climbing up a wall! Or at least it did 20 years ago, it now shows his crumbling body stuck to a mound of rot. Lovely. Just be glad you can't smell this one...
Due to the potentially lethal nature of this cake I couldn't try any, so you get a nice song instead. Seems a fair trade-off.

He was saving it to eat it years later but some one smart informed him not eat because it would be lethal. He deff argued with the person why he should be able to eat it , since he paid for it. In 2002 I was 15 years old and that spiderman film was just about the coolest thing I had ever seen. That cake has aged about as well as my ability to feel wonder or hope.

The changes have come from audio quality and footage resolution but that's about all really.
It helps that Stuart doesn’t visibly age, since we only see his arms. Captain Disillusion, on the other hand, is noticeably … paunchier than his first appearances.

My recently deceased best friend and I had a joint stag-do 20 years ago this year, where we had this as the stag cake. We laughed so hard at the squat Spider-Man and still have photos of just spidey looking like he was squashed awkwardly.
Love seeing it on here as we have followed Ashens for a long time and is one of the only UA-cam channels we both love. He would have loved seeing this too.

@@smell3285it’s a thing in Europe and America, but I guess the packaging isn’t usually quite as... all-encompassing? I dunno how else to describe it, just, usually the cake ‘window’ takes up more than only 10% of the box lol.

I remember some of his other expired foods came from people who were cleaning out an elderly relative's home and found forgotten food in the far back corners of the kitchen. Then instead of throwing it out, they sent it to Ashens. I could see some forgetful granny leaving a birthday cake at the bottom of a storage freezer for years as new things piled on top.

I was 9 when Spiderman was released and it was my absolute favourite film. I had this cake for my birthday and I remember it very well. Seeing it again 20 years later is absolutely wild.

Accounting for inflation, 8 pounds then is about 13-15 (sources vary) pounds now. So relatively speaking, you’re still paying the same price you would in 2003, just that the amount of pounds used has increased.

It’s been over ten years since I watched an Ashens video, which is surprising considering how much I absolutely loved them when I was younger. Anyways, I just clicked on one for the first time in over a decade, and somehow it’s the exact same as I remember. Time to binge the entire channel.

Ohhhh the design on that box is just a nostalgia bomb. The dark blue background with the city skyline, the terminator font, the single eye corner graphic and the story synopsis that was on EVERY piece of Spider-Man 2002 merchandise with those same pictures of Spidey and Goblin. I love it so much.

I've never been more happy to see Stuart NOT eat something. Logically I knew he had to have survived in order to upload the video, but I was terrified for his health.
The first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail was: "Please, God tell me he doesn't actually try to eat that."
I was less relieved when I didn't fall in after slipping on rocks at the Grand Canyon.
Ashens would *absolutely* make the executor of his will finish and upload the final video.

I could imagine a kid being upset on his birthday that his parents were going to cut into Spider-Man, so they never ate the cake and put it back in the cupboard. The kid checked on it for a couple of days then everyone just sort of forgot about it. Until they found it one day and had the idea to send it to a strange man from Norwich.

Oh my gosh, I remember the Spider-Cake song! I listened to it all the time as a kid! Which, come to think of it, is kindof weird, given neither Prison Break or Final Fantasy VII Remake existed then. 🤔 Truly a song that transcends time.
I loved the packaging for this era spiderman merch, when they'd come with a little comic book as well. The magic was lost once the spiderman 3 toys were a thing.
