This is a detailed review of the Porter and Davies Gigster Silent Bass Drum Monitoring System. I know this product has been out for quite a while, but I wanted to show more in-depth how it works, as well as talk about two really cool unexpected benefits that the Gigster provided which I think are pretty significant. Thanks for watching! Any questions, hit me up in the comments.

I’ve asked a few people how this worked because I didn’t want to waste money if it wasn’t worth it and this video totally explains how to set it up , couldn’t get a straight explanation from anyone else, thanks for the info!!

Oh man I love this I have as of today was going to give up my rock and sock to get a porter and Davies which I did order but I’m hating that I didn’t have the hydraulic option. Where did you get this part and how did you put this together? Any kind of info if you filmed it I would love it. Please be back in touch with me because this is amazing, I didn’t think this was at all possible to get the hydraulic option available and on top of it I’ve got the purple one too

Hey man, so I had an older roc n soc and Gil from Porter and Davies said I could still use it, I just had to buy a mounting plate to fit the Gigster seat he was making for me. It was only $35. Four screws, that’s it. Simple. I ordered directly from them, so he made the seat to accommodate the new plate. I would shoot them an email for specifics on what you need to do to use your hydraulic seat.

Hey man! I just got my BC2, but I need it to fit my Roc N Soc Nitro base. I just ordered a new bracket, but am told I will need to drill holes in the octagon. What size drill bit did you use, and how did you make sure the holes were accurate!? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I didn’t have to drill any holes. The new bracket that fits the roc n soc throne fits onto the bottom of the Porter and Davies seat as is. The old bracket doesn’t work but the new one does. Just 4 bolts, that’s it. No drilling. You can contact P&D for more info, but that’s all I had to do. Enjoy that BC2!

@@TheMichaelJadeDrumChannel That’s strange that they told you that. When I bought my Gigster, I emailed Gil and asked if I could keep my roc n soc throne. He said if it was an older throne (which it was), all I had to do was buy a new adapter plate for the seat. $35 at drum factory direct. I did, 4 bolts attached the plate to the seat, and I was good to go. Hopefully your scenario is the same.

@@ccdrums1290 mine has the green octagon plate underneath, so it is a little different from yours. Hopefully it’s just as smooth, and not too scary to take apart!

Can I use old style roc doc adapter on my p n d?

I don’t believe so. It doesn’t fit. The new adapter is only $35 or so, that works perfectly.

I've never used or seen this product used in 41+ years of performing. I can't speak regarding it's benefits.
I embrace technology, however, if it improves my musical experience.
But I'm prone to believe this product could cause an unintended issue I have experienced numerous times with musicians who have control of their individual in ear monitor mixes. I'll explain the issue.
With the ability to control their own iem mixes, musicians fine tune their mix as the show progresses. It's so convenient that they're able to finally reach a point where playing begins to feel much easier and the notes or beats are produced with less effort.
Then, without realizing it, they are playing measurably softer, or quieter, than before. This causes problems with the front of house mix plus the other musicians monitor mixes resulting in the need to push faders up and raise volumes, in turn, also raising the noise floor in the process because the problematic signal source is weaker.
As a drummer begins to feel all the drums perfectly, playing softer is a natural reaction.
I much more prefer that all performers hear and feel as much of the real sound in the room as possible. It makes for a much better performance when musicians don't feel any sense of separation caused by their gear.

I understand your point, but that’s not what I’ve experienced at all. It’s made every playing experience I’ve had more enjoyable. To each his own, just sharing my thoughts about it.

      @ccdrums1290  Рік тому +1

If you had an old roc-n-soc seat like I did, then yes, this adapter will work. You can always email Porter and Davies to make sure, but I believe that will be fine. The old mounting plate on the roc n soc hydraulic throne didn’t work on the Gigster seat. Gil at P&D told me to buy the plate in the link I sent to you, and it would mount easily to the Gigster seat with just 4 screws. It was easy and works perfectly.

If you seen the price of this door over $1000, come on greedy, corporate companies, I can't believe people actually pay that much money for to sit on a drum throne that vibrates the things these companies pray upon is stupidity. The average consumer doesn't know any better. They buy any new gimmick tickets out there and this is another gimmick. It won't last not at that price.

It’s a great tool in my opinion, much more than a vibrating stool. Expensive yes but so is a new high end snare drum. This gives me much more pleasure and solves many problems. Worth it to me and it has been on the market for decades.
