Thank you Brian for this video as it is very helpful. We have an R8-1-1/2 in clutch. We just ordered a replacement and we can't get the cap off the clutch itself. Do you have any ideas how to do that? It also came with an end pin which I have no idea what it is for...? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi there, The clutch mechanism doesn't come apart. Taking it apart breaks the clutch. Do you need help getting chain on the clutch? This video will help with that: ua-cam.com/video/ya7Cabh-3Z0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FixMyBlinds. The end pin is for the opposite side of the tube from the clutch. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Awesome video! I'm looking now but my blind doesn't have an internal tube, what do I do with that?
We're happy to help! Please email us a few pictures of the part you're looking for. Our email is service@fixmyblinds.com.
How do you remove from the shade?
Very helpful, thanks Brian! Just one question - I see the Skyline has at one point two bead grooves close together, which do not appear to align with the regular spacing of all the others. Why is that? Does it not cause a problem when winding the cord? Seems odd.
That particular clutch is sized so the number of bead spots is an odd number. Typically the clutches have every other bead spot reversed … one forward, one backward, one forward, one backward, etc. With an odd number there had to be two in a row of either forward or backward. I doesn't cause any problem whatsoever with the operation.
Excellent, thanks!
I've been searching for return mechanisms for a custom awning I'm working on.
Is there a typical travel limit? Or shade length maximum?
Thanks
Hi there, if you'd like to email us about your project, we're happy to talk through it. Our email is service@fixmyblinds.com. There is a weight limit to these clutches, so the max length depends on the weight of the fabric.
The opposite end of the clutch end is giving me difficulty reinstalling in the bracket. I can’t get the hook that is supposed to latch in the end won’t catch. What to do?
Hi! Is the hook bent or broken? If you need further assistance, please email me a few pictures of the bracket and the end plug. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
How can you adjust the springs in the clutch? seems they jumped band the shade lower too easy
Hi Hans, There's no way to adjust the springs inside these types of clutches. If the shade is unrolling when it's raised, it means that the clutch is failing and needs to be replaced.
@@fixmyblinds Thanks for the tip on that...will order new clutches. Greatly appreciated, Hans
How do we adjust tension?
Hi Benjamin, There's no way to adjust the tension on Rollease clutches. If your clutch is no longer holding well, it's time to replace it.
How do I remove actual shade
Hi there, There can be a few different styles of brackets used for roller shades. So we can best help, please send a few pictures of the brackets your blinds have and we can provide instructions. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
I can’t remove the clutch
Is it normal that my tube is only made of cardboard and the problem I'm having is that the clutch keeps slipping out of it?
That is the case with some roller shades. You can try wrapping some masking tape around the part of the clutch that fits into the tube to make it larger. Perhaps the added bulk will hold the clutch mechanism inside of the tube better. It's also time to consider replacing the window covering altogether.
I need brackets hold the clutches
Hi Cheryl! You can purchase brackets for roller shades on our website: fixmyblinds.com/collections/roller-shade-mounting-brackets
Did not help how to remove it!
Hi there! To get the clutch out of the tube, pull on it. Clutches are just pressed into the tube. There aren't any screws or other fasteners to remove.
