      Salad Glory that’s what it comes down to. Fast or die a little bit at a time from diabetes. You choose if Diabetes is how you want to die. It’s slow, I’d rather not.

      A very true statement. Dialysis is just torture. Honestly, it was like watching the patients in a prison like atmosphere. Sticking yourself with a needle everyday for insulin injections. I always thought this wouldn't happen to me. I would loose my quality of life if I didn't have my candy and donuts. I witnessed two people with diabetes complications and loosing toes and the both legs. Trust me, quality of life is nonexistent. Having to go through daily torture, being at the whim of others with no control of your life. After 30 years, I was finally scared straight when I started having foot issues. Plus, who is going to take care of you when you can't take care of yourself. Finally, my choice is fasting with a low carb diet vs. sugars. I look at it as a fight for my life. My sugars are now way down, I test all the time now and am off diabetic meds. Yes, fasting and no candy or donuts is not fun, but stopping them is so much better than the alternative. Good luck to all.

      Clarification. Sticking your self with a needle everyday was regarding what some have to do who have diabetes. Sticking yourself is not part of Dialysis. Now, others sticking needles in your arm is part of the Dialysis process. Hopefully, they do not infiltrate your vein.

My stomach is full but I am still wanting food!! The hunger is out of control! When I start fasting and eating lchf that all goes away as soon as my body switches over to burning fat!! 2009 my brother had stroke, doctor put him on IV yet didn't let him eat anything for a month in the hospital. At that time, I don't time to look at the youtube, didn't learn about the fasting. My brother , was recovered in a month after the stroke back to normal person . I thought was god really bless him. Now it all made sense, although , doctors are not recommend fasting. They do put patients in fasting stage to heal by themselves.

    Mine is going away. My sugars were in the 300’s and the endocrinologist put me on metformin and I lost 60lbs and my blood sugars are now 70-99. Before abs after I eat. I cut out 100% sugars. I didn’t even chew sugar free gum. I did the Keto diet and it’s working 150%
    Edited to say I’m off all meds. Metformin, high blood pressure and blood thinners. I healed my gallbladder, liver and pancreas with this diet. I drink nothing but water. I used to drink 6-7 cherry dr peppers everyday. I eat minimal fat 4oz protein abs get all my carbs from crusifserus veggies with extra virgin olive oil and apple cider vinegar for salad dressing. It’s a lifestyle change because I still do intermittent fasting.

    13.smt , that was in April 2018. i did my research in landed on Dr .Fung. I listened to his teachings an how to heal ourselves. By that time the Physician i was seeing was just short of putting me on Insulin. I was already an 2 times a day 800mg of meds, and i knew i had to turn this around. So i followed the dietary advice given and now in September 2018 my count is 4.9. i'm healed without meds

    Wonderful. I am following Dr. Fung since January 21 when I was diagnosed as a pre diabetic. I started low carb and intermittent fasting. It took me a few months to know what the carbs are and how many carbs each food serving contain . After few months I slowly noticed the difference. The first sign was loosing weight and getting better sleep. Today after 19 months of low carb and fasting, I don’t have any symptom of diabetes. I did my blood work three weeks ago and everything was normal including Hba1c of 5.3
    I also noticed clear change in my alt and ast that shows fatty liver condition. Both alt and ast were 45 and 42 but now they are 20 and 22.
    Both low carb and fasting work very well and I don’t spend a penny for it.
    It looks to be very difficult in the beginning but becomes very easy once you get used to it and get some more knowledge in this field. You can find a replacement for almost every sugary food and drink. For sweets, I consume stevia extract and Monk fruit sugar from Amazon.

    The one thing that I would add is that it's not about Just trying to prevent Heart attacks and cancer etc., It's also about feeling better, When you don't have any energy, And just don't feel good, Such as a slight headache, Kind of a Flu like feeling, Just feeling a lot better It is what motivates me more than anything. No High card food Tastes good enough To tolerate feeling bad most of the time. It's also nice not to Have to get up several times during the night To use the restroom. Is it any wonder that the kidneys start to fail, Remember the only reason you're getting up Several times During the night Is your body's attempt to Pee off all that sugar. A good night sleep is one of the most beneficial things you can do.

    Nutritional ketosis is high fat...mainly your own! Skinny people are skinny because they burn their fat! Starting off on this diet requires you that completely eliminate your cookies, cakes, crackers, breads, pastas, rice, etc., that are actually killing you!
    1. Find out how much meat you need to nourish your ideal body weight because a complete protein is your #1 fuel for muscles.
    2. Fat makes you full for a long time, so use heavy cream, butter, olive oil, etc.. This is NOT a low fat diet.
    3. Carbs should be the ones that don’t spike your blood sugar too high so it (blood sugar) will come down quickly.
    JUST DO IT!!!!
    You’ll tweak the diet along the way, but this is how you start.
    Coffee with heavy cream and Pyure sugar substitute was my best friend to start. Learn how to boil chicken thighs and/or legs with good salt and pick the meat off. Put the meat in a container in the refrigerator. Put the chicken skin, cartilage, and bones in a slow cooker and cover with distilled water. You can throw an onion in there too. Set it on high and let it cook for about 12-24 hours to get all the good stuff out of the scraps. You can salt your broth when you drink it or you can salt the whole thing from the beginning.

      @@n0ushinaansari630 Easiest, fastest, healthiest and most natural way to lose weight is through Intermittent Fasting and sticking to vegetables and meats with a reduction in Sugars and carbohydrates. Basically skip breakfast and have your 1st meal around noon, then dinner around 6. Do not diet with little meals. You are going to eat 2 regular sized meals. Women require around 1500 daily calories and men 2000 to sustain weight and health. Eating low calorie meals will cause your body to think there is a famine or shortage of food thus slowing down your metabolism. This is not a diet. It's the way humans were designed to eat, and ate for thousands of years. 6 meals a day is the new diet making everyone diabetic and cancerous. Your body will adjust to any eating habits in about 2 weeks. That's it, you will not die, you may feel hungry at first but a tea or black coffee will blunt your hunger.
      Eat your vegetables or a large salad first, then your meat or protein, then a very small amount of carbohydrates. Go easy on breads, pastas as these carbohydrates are in the sugar family and will drastically raise your insulin fat storage. If you cook vegetables do a stirfry type using natural fats like butter, lard or coconut oil. Eat raw nuts not roasted or salted, like almonds, walnuts, cashews, etc. Take a daily supplement. Replace your salt with sea salt or Himalayan salt. Eat more eggs and avacados. The secret is your insulin level. Insulin is a major fat storage hormone that rises sharply when you eat sugar or carbs. Even eating a small meal will raise insulin but that's normal. What you dont want is a sharp rise in insulin caused by sugars and carbs. So basically you have an eating time or "window" of 6 hours..(12-6). The rest of the time you're fasting. Water with Himalayan salt, black coffee and tea are about the only thing you should be consuming during your fasting time and will knock down any hunger you have. Most people lose 10 pounds a month until their body settles into a comfortable weight. You must initially cut fruit until you reach your target weight then you can reintroduce fruit. Fruit is loaded with sugar, especially bananas and apples. Most berries are low in sugar like blueberries, strawberries and are fine on a salad. To increase fat burning you can do light exercise or a power walk 3 days a week before you eat your first meal. Go easy on the exercise as this will drive hunger. Your body will use pure fat (ketones) as fuel. I know many coworkers, friends and family that have started this natural way of eating and they've all lost weight, lots of weight! You can do it. The only cheat days I have are during a family function where I'll have some alcohol or sugary snacks. Then its back on track the next morning.. (about 2x per month) Easy peasy! For professional guidance see the following doctors on UA-cam Berg, Boz, Berry, Zyrowski. Big Pharma and Bug Grain are trying to shut these doctors down as they are actually curing peoples diabetes, cancer, and chronic diseases. Good luck. I was just the average fat guy who was getting very sick and discovered this by accident. This is the way actors and actresses eat. They're keeping it to themselves. Good luck. You know the secret now...spread it!

    Hi Dr Fung, love what you’re doing and am having great success with the keto diet as a type one diabetic. I have a question, I’ve integrated fasting as part of approach for treating my diabetes, but was curious about something, after my workouts, which is during my fasted window, I’m about 12-15 hours into a fast, my blood glucose is around 200-220, which apparently happens from the liver dumping glucose into the blood, will this break my fast as I have to take insulin to lower my blood glucose although I have not eaten ? Thanks in advance Dr Fung, and much love.

      Betty Desmond both ways work. Fasting though lowers sugars faster. As the weight, stored sugars, comes down the glucose readings drop more and more so you get off the meds sooner. Up to you.

      Betty Desmond You need to do a lot more research before criticizing a man who has written 3 books, and is one of the leading experts on the subject. Also your method is fine for a healthy person. His information is for people who are literally killing them selves from too much accumulated sugar. Only fasting will clean out the old sugar. Lastly every 6 months they are finding another benefit of fasting. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

    There is one thing I do not understand. Everyone agrees that a smoker that won't or can't quit , or an alcoholic that drinks, these people only get minamum health care. Why do diabetics that won't change their diet get medical treatment. What makes them any different. These are all considered life style choices. I have told several diabetics about Dr. Fung's work, they all refused to give up their crap diets.

    I have type 2 diabetes, IG I have insulin resistance, why does my blood sugar goes down when I inject myself with Insulin? Where is the Resistance?

    • @kicknadeadcat
      @kicknadeadcat 5 років тому

      If you were 100% insulin resistant you would be a type one diabetic. Type one diabetic‘s cannot produce insulin that’s why it works for them. But if you’ve noticed even though getting your insulin shot your glucose goes down over the years it will take more and more insulin to get the same result. In other word you’re building insulin resistance. Insulin’s job is the pump glucose into your cells. Depending how insulant resistant you are some will make it into the cells but what doesn’t spills over into your blood. So what I’m saying is there are various degrees of insulin resistance and the higher it is the more at risk you are.

    • @letyp.9950
      @letyp.9950 5 років тому

      You have to inject yourself with insulin because you are so insulin resistant that the insulin your pancreas is releasing is no longer lowering your blood sugars, that is why you have to inject MORE insuline.

    I have type 2 diabetes, avoiding carbs completely, don't touch sugars at all. My glucose in the morning is very high and if I don't eat at all, glucose goes much higher throughout the day. If I have middle of the night snack, my morning glucose is much lower. I take four Metformin tablets before going to bed, but even if if I don't take any tablets nothing changes in the morning. How can I do fasting in situation like this? What's going on?

      Diet is the most important thing. Exercise is not as important, but you can do 1 lap around your local indoor shopping mall 3 or 4 days per week. Start by limiting your carbs to no more than 50 per day. You will lose weight and your blood sugar #'s should come down. Read the nutrition labels on all of your food. Write everything down each day and add up the # of carbs that you had that day. Replace the carbs that you gave up with foods that are high in fat. The fat will help keep you from getting hungry. Bacon, sausage, cheese, almonds, walnuts, salmon, heavy cream, are all very good. Pretend that you are conducting an experiment. Don't worry about counting # of calories. Once you start seeing some results you can try limiting carbs to no more than 20 per day. This is more difficult but can be implemented if you hit a sticky plateau. If you get a blood sugar reading of 80 or less, see you doctor immediately about adjusting your meds. Your next A1C test will almost certainly show an improvement.

    I acquired diabetes while I was a student and skipped meals so I don’t think extended fasting is a good idea in my opinion. However eating only when one is hungry with no snacks in between is more helpful in my experience. And low carbs and no sugar, and moderate protein works well for me. I have not relied on any diabetes medications for about ten years.

      He means, one option is to eat within a 8 hour period in the day. For example, only eat between the hours of 10am and 6pm. Then consume no food between 6pm and 10am the next day. Usually that will allow 2 main meals, one meal at 10am and another meal at say, 5pm. And even a snack if u need it within the eating window, which is 10am to 6pm.

    I have an important question. I have been using omad for a month in a half. My blood sugar level is all over the place. It can go
    up 20 points overnight. For instance for dinner I'd have a porkchop and cup of Brussel sprouts all day, the next day a cup of black coffee and two pork medallions and broccoli for dinner.No sugar or carbs. That example is just one day but it occurs all the time I don't know what to do my doctor is trying to put me on meds. and I don't want to go there, but my levels all over the place. HELP Glucose was 124 then wenIt to 144 next morning. I'm 60 years old and disabled so not much exercise. I do have a fatty liver and weigh 219 lbs. I'm tryin to get healthy but have had roadblocks, I did loose 6 lbs during this time but weight will not budge. I do not snack so basically fast for 12 hours plus because after coffee I don't eat til 5 p.m.

      @ednorton47 5 років тому +1

      You don't mention what your diet is. Even though you are not "fat", you could still have internal fat around your organs. Before doing fasting, I would start by limiting your carbs to no more than 50 per day. This is easy to do if your read the labels. No bread, potatoes, rice, or pasta. No corn or peas. Eat eggs, sausage, bacon, salmon, steaks (or pork steak), chicken (not breaded), cheese, heavy cream, walnuts, almonds, etc. This should lower your A1C further. You should aim at getting your A1C down to about 5.4 or even a little bit less. If this doesn't work, you can be stricter by limiting carbs to no more than 20 per day. This is more difficult to do, but not impossible if you really are motivated. It helps to write every thing down. Don't use any sauces or dressings unless you have read the label to make sure it contains little or no sugars. Ketchup is full of sugar. Use a little salsa instead. If you like coffee, start each day with 3 cups of coffee, each with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream in it (not milk, not half and half). Heavy cream is 100% fat and has 50 calories per tablespoon. This will help you from feeling hungry and allow you to put off having breakfast for about 2 or 3 hours into your day. Stay completely away from restaurants. If you have to go to a restaurant, order a grilled chicken Caesar salad (try to avoid the croutons), or have an omlette (no toast, no jam). If you start getting blood sugar readings below 80, I would check with your doctor about cutting back on the medications. Your A1C test should be given every 3 months.

      Yes. I’m 67 years old and had pre-diabetes. I went on the keto diet and a week later started intermittent fasting 16/8. I lost 20 pounds all off my stomach and chest, four inches off my waist. The nerve pain in my feet from the high insulin spikes from all the carbs that I ate is gone. My A-1 C is 5.5 normal. And the acid reflux that I’ve had for like about 10 years and the specialist told me I’d be on Pills The rest of my life disappeared after two weeks. It’s five months now I haven’t even had heartburn. My blood glucose normalized and my high blood pressure is now normal. In the doctors office I was 154/90. In the mornings now I’ve seen it as low as 107/65. Most days it’s in the 115/67. I heard it’s even good for your skin. And I could attest to that because I had a half an inch mole growing near My ear that I was going to have a specialist remove. A week and a half into keto I noticed it was drying up. It disappeared completely in seven days from then. That mole started growing 20 years ago. Oh yes I would say it works or at least it did for me.

    I wish Dr. Fung would address the issue of "drug-induced" diabetes in patients with serious mental illnesses like Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder and Bipolar Disorder who MUST take drugs like Mood Stabilizers like Depakote and Lithium and Atypical Antipsychotics like Zyprexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Clozaril which are notorious for causing the dreaded "Metabolic Syndrome" which is the precursor to diabetes. What are those patients supposed to do? Stop taking their meds since they are the culprit of their insulin resistance and end up relapsing and hospitalized in the mental ward? Unfortunately, most psychiatrists seem to think that eating less and exercising more is enough to counteract the drugs side effects and that getting diabetes is an acceptable "trade-off" in order to remain mentally stable. It's no wonder then that studies have shown that the life expectancy of people with severe mental illness is 15-20 less years than the general population due to the prevalent practice of "Polypharmacy" which also causes Cardio Vascular Disease. I am very passionate about this topic because of my husband who has Schizoaffective Disorder(diagnosed 27 years ago) and has been on numerous drug cocktails which have wreaked havoc with his physical health. He has always been med compliant and has tried to do diet and exercise in order to avoid becoming diabetic to no avail. He was only able to keep diabetes at bay for 4 years after becoming pre-diabetic (A1c 5.9) which shot up to 10.7 in 6 months after switching to Seroquel (Quetiapine). Thankfully, he went off that and his A1c is now 6.2 which illustrates my point that drugs DO cause insulin resistance and diabetes.
